@Octane
Ya I have to agree. By the time 10pm hits, the eyelids are droopy, the cane starts feeling heavy and my feet can't move the rocking chair any more. Midnight release? Eh heh, ya I tried doing that the last few times. Didn't make it past 10:30pm.
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate what is the last game that I stayed up all night for. Drove to a Walmart 30 minutes away because mine wasn't 24 hours, and I bought a New 3DS and MH4U, got home around 1am and stayed up playing it until sunrise.
I'd like to say I do it again, but the truth is, I didn't even do it for World or Gen Ultimate. And if those games can't get me to stay up anymore, nothing will.

@JaxonH ooops, i was thinking it was the 3 but mine is the arctis pro wireless. It has a base receiver that can do usb audio for switch and ps4 (but not x1) and also does dts headphone on 5.1 signals, replaceable batteries, etc. It's fully wireless (minus some quality from the wired pro).
The switch functionality is the same though, other than being wireless, and the fact it can do usb audio.
Tbh my favorite feature is the batteries. 2 li batts, magnetic battery cover, and a spare charger in the base unit
@NEStalgia
So yours connects via Bluetooth and mixes audio on Switch even in handheld mode?
I read the adapter for the 3.5mm headphone jack disabled it or something, which is why they came out with the new model targeted for switch users. Like, you could get it to work when Switch was in the dock, but it wouldn't have surround sound without some work around, and then in handheld it wouldn't connect via Bluetooth, or it would but the mic wouldn't work or something?
Idk. If it works for you then that's all that matters. But I know something was going on with those older models and the switch that they put out the newer model advertising compatibility.

@NEStalgia Yeah, seems my experience at a midnight launch was definitely better than yours from the sounds of it. Of course, the last time I did one... I think it was when Pokemon Black and White came out.
@link3710 Basically you get some games early if you buy the special editions. Microsoft started this trend with Forza Horizon 3, Gears of War 4 and Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Editions and then some companies like Ubisoft copied.
Technically, no that's not true. Microsoft adopted the idea from MMOs, which have a tendency to give open beta keys or a few days early access on the live servers to those who pre-order them. Champions, DC Universe Online, Age of Conan, The Secret World, and D&D Online had done such stuff long before Microsoft decided to try it.
@JaxonH yeah, i was confused with the models. Arctis pro doesnt use the 3.5 at all, it uses usb on the dock. I don't think theres a 2019 version of pro, but I've never tried it with handheld. So it's possible there's an issue with the 3.5 adapter and bt since it needs to run through the base dac for bt. Personally for my use i don't see that being an issue only becausei don't see myself in a situation wherei want to be handheld but also want bulky headphones.... If I'm good with bulky cans im likely at the couch, and if I'm not at the couch i can't imagine wanting bulky cans. But, then, if i were into vc, maybe id have a situation where I'd want it. Still, any handheld situation implies being somewhere others are present and talking into a mic with large closed cans seems somehow inappropriate
Turns out the GAME early release of Black Ops 4 is because of a 50GB update you have to download to play. I wonder if that's part of the already confirmed 100GB file size or in addition to.
@DarthNocturnal So 50GB disc install + 50GB day 1 update then? Or is the disc basically just a physical key and you have 0GB disc install + 50GB day 1 update?
@DarthNocturnal Ok, the disc is probably just a license key then. Overwatch physical was something like 1MB disc and the actual game itself was a download.
South Park has jumped up to #16 on the US eShop chart. FighterZ is holding strong at #5.
Anyways, preload for Starlink is available... I'm definitely interested in it, but I might just wait for reviews on it. I've got a fair amount of non-gaming expenses coming up, so I'm not gonna just jump on it lol
@Grumblevolcano ROFL, so the industry is now so bad that the physical purchase doesn't in fact contain a current build of the game, and the entire game must be downloaded, at double the size of a normal SL BD, and is so bad that retailers are now selling the releases half a day early because the mandatory download for your physical game is so huge?! Soo......why not just buy digital? We keep talking about physical and a digital future, but clearly this already is the digital future. The entire XBone launch nightmare is already reality.
@IceClimbers I feel Microsoft purchasing all these developers both good and bad. It’s good because, hopefully assuming Microsoft doesn’t mess around with the developers, it means the next Xbox will receive a lot more first party games, and good ones too. However, it’s bad because the more that are bought out the less independent studios are available for taking on outsourced work. Not that Nintendo would be affected by that with western developers.

Just saw that Mark of the Ninja was released today! And with Guacamelee out, and Child of Light releasing tomorrow this week has turned out to be aaalright.
Oh sure, when Sony and MS force you to use a 5th of your internal storage because the game doesnt fit on the physical media its fine, but when you need to take a 5th of your Switch for the same reason its bad?
It just cements that with the PS4 and Xbox One they should have gone with a new medium, not the same BluRay as before on PS3.
But thats too expensive. But they'll have to eventually.
Now Playing: Mario & Luigi Brothership, Sonic x Shadow Generations
Now Streaming: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
Just ordered a new TV for my room. It's only 720p (which means in terms of Switch gaming I won't be able to play games in 1080p when playing docked, however I will be able to enjoy docked mode more often than I do now with the Switch on the living room TV). Also, it's a smart TV which should be nice with Netflix & YouTube absent from the Switch itself.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
@IceClimbers
Seeing decent climbs on eShop, but bigger and bigger drops at retail. Not sure what to make of it. Could be Amazon changing their pre-order policy and a massive drop in purchases from them. Could also be people migrating over to digital more and more. But the fan bases on other platforms already buy a higher percentage of games digitally and yet still climb in the retail charts, so I don't know if I buy into that. And for that reason I also have to question my first hypothesis since those games are also affected by the change in pre-order policy, and yet they are doing extremely well in the charts while many Switch games are not.
Diablo still over #200, Civilization VI still over #300. The two biggest 3rd party releases for Switch in the next 2-4 weeks, one of which is exclusive to Switch both in terms of consoles and handhelds. Only console to have the game, and only handheld to ever have the game. It's a pretty big deal, and I would expect it to break top 50, if not 25. Same for Diablo, given the 30+ million sales to date.
On the flip side, TWEWY is doing better than expected I think, sitting around #77. Now this isn't going to set the charts on fire or anything, especially given the fact it releases in less than 72 hours. But I'm surprised it even made it into the top 100 tbh.
@FragRed
Well, Obsidian made South Park Stick of Truth which just released on Switch, and they're making Pillars of Eternity 2 which is also coming to Switch. So I'm not sure I would say Switch will be unaffected. They actually probably will be.
@Knuckles-Fajita
You're totally right, seen by those who won't say a word when it happens there, but complaining to no end on Switch.
That said, Switch has very limited potential storage. Even the largest microSD on the market, a 512gb card, was already full on my Switch. I have had to delete countless digital copies of games and install their physical version with the update. It's definitely not cool when they do it on other systems, but it's a much bigger issue when the grand total space on your system is only half a terabyte and games are routinely 15gb with 3-5gb updates. And while AAA games may take up half the space they do on other systems, all the mid tier games are not compressed at all when compared to other versions. And those games actually account for most of the games released and most of the space used. Which means you've got games releasing which are just as big as on other systems, but you have 10% of the expanded space you could have had on another system with expanded space.
So it is kind of a bigger deal when it happens on Switch. Of course, a game having a 4-5 GB download is really no different then a game having a 4-5 GB update. Banner Saga Trilogy download was 4.3gb, while my data downloaded for Rocket League retail release was actually more. My downloaded data for Southpark and Xenoblade 2 and Fire Emblem Warriors was actually more. And some of those had season pass content included, but at the end of the day an additional download is an additional download

@JaxonH Yeah I honestly have no idea what exactly is going on. There's definitely a move to digital, but iirc it hasn't been happening as fast for Nintendo as it has for Xbox or PlayStation. Maybe it's happening faster for third party titles than it is for first party?
That chart position for TWEWY is interesting. As great as it is, it's a $50 port of a niche cult classic. Then again, similar could be said of Bayonetta, and that's done well so far.
One thing that I found interesting is how well Surgeon Simulator has been doing. For such an old indie title, it's certainly held its own on the eShop chart for the past month.
@IceClimbers TWEWY and Bayonetta share something in common however, and I'm not sure how much it's helping. Bayonetta had appeared in Smash prior to the ports appearing, and the TWEWY cast played an important role in Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance on the 3DS. Appearing in such major franchises, plus the general cult status of the series might explain it.
