Yeah, I can't see myself going 100% digital ever. Physical is a lot cheaper for me (€52-€55 vs €60 or €70). I can lend my games to friends to try them out, and I can always sell the game again if I didn't like it at all.
Physical is cheaper, but with physical comes buying way more games. Buying digital only, it would be just the very best. Half my physical games I would never buy digitally.
So in the end... it'll probably be cheaper
Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)
They will look on Me whom they pierced

One positive aspect of digital I never see brought up is that it always gives rare games a new lease on life. Take a niche game, something like Fatal Frame. If it had a small print number and was physical only, years from now it could also become ludicrously expensive to play it legally. Digital allows those games to always remain at the ready. And while that doesn't completely future-proof these services like how we saw the Wii Shop Channel close down, if backwards compatibility becomes a huge thing going forward like Game Pass on Xbox, that'll allow for a lot of good preservation of old, niche games.

The ideal world is how it is now, with physical and digital coexisting. Those who want to can pay full price or enjoy the shop sales if they wanna wait a bit and have their games with them, and those who want physical can still go to the store. I hope it stays like this. We don't need an all digital console in the future.
@Octane
I mean, buying digitally I stick to only the best of the best. Not only because no SD in the world could hold my entire physical collection, but also there's just not the same incentive to have every single decent game in the library when it's not on display.
So I bought 60 physical games in the first year of Switch. But of those 60, only 20 or so were purchased digitally.
So by going digital, I'd only be buying 1/3 as many games. Sure, they may only be 5% off as opposed to 20%, but paying 15% more for 67% less games total is going to be considerably, considerably less money.

@EvilLucario You're making it sound as if games from the pre-digital era will be lost forever, yet we have emulators and ROMs. And like you already said, the Wii shop is closing down, but you can still go out and buy the physical games. Digital only works in that regard if publishers are 100% committed to supporting their online storefronts forever, and that won't happen unfortunately.
@JaxonH I see. Well, I don't have that desire. I just buy the games I want to play, I don't see that changing if I went all digital.
@JaxonH
Digital + cheap price, But can't be preserved = Big No No for me.
Physical + a little bit pricey but still reasonable price = My choice.
I don't care with the price.
I don't buy All the games from E-Shop / Retail.
Btw, with so many games you owned, did you even finished all of them ?
I had more than 100 Physical games (Nintendo + Sony combined) but around 50% of my collections are still Unfinished yet.
And i don't play my games so intensively (maybe around 1 - 2 hours).
Only on weekend and if i have plenty of times, i can play more than 4 hours, but still not just stare at gaming monitor for long time.

@Octane Keyword being legal. I won't go into emulation talk here since that's another can of worms to open, but digital avenues like the Virtual Console or Microsoft's Game Pass to preserve games is a big plus towards digital.
I'm still very 50/50 towards digital and physical myself, but that's one aspect I don't see much people think about in terms of preferred media.

It's not that I buy games I don't want to play. Every game I buy appeals to me. But I do buy far more than just the very best.
Digital only cuts the fat, so to speak. I like Tiny Barbarian, but wouldn't buy it digitally unless it was on sale. I like Ittle Dew 2, but same. I like Dragonball Xenoverse 2, but same. Attack On Titan, same. etc etc
I find alot of joy in trying all sorts of games, diving in to new experiences, without any regard for budget or price or anything else that would potentially restrict me from playing a game that's caught my interest. And it's great having a ginormous collection of games for any given rainy day. Never know what you'll be in the mood to play.
But more and more, I'm questioning if it's worth it. It's not that I don't want all those games, I do, I'm just wondering if it's worth the price I pay for all of it. More and more, focusing on the creme de la creme digitally seems a better approach. And since I'm already doing that, but in addition to physical, cutting physical out entirely could save $5000 a year, easy.
Not that I need the money, but... it just seems a more efficient approach. And since I've found I actually play games more often when I have immediate digital access, well, it's hard to put a price on that. Even if it does cost 15% more game per game, if I play twice as often as I would when swapping carts, then the math, yet again, works out in favor of digital being cheaper.

Sometimes i just don't understand with some peoples.
Why the Heck they have to create an Offensive games like that ?
For what purpose ?
Didn't they know if those contents will violate the Social Norm ?
Being a cool gamer doesn't have to be get involved into unacceptable forbidden contents.
That was Too Far, Too Rebel.
It was Against the Social Norm and Taboo from Religion aspect.

@YummyHappyPills Nintendo contradicts themselves as much as a politician. Lol. I clearly remember them saying they were never going to do paid DLC, but it was very shortly after they said that when Fire Emblem Awakening got paid DLC. Like it was within a month, IIRC. shakes head
@Anti-Matter You do realize that Night Trap genuinely isn't that bad, contentwise right? Despite all the negative publicity, it's only rated T after all. Half the stuff people said about that game in the hearings was pure fiction. Including the idea that it was even worth playing.
@Harmonie Thibg with Nintenfo is when thry say they will do something...generally it happens. People said Xenoblade wouldnt be 2017, it was. They said Switch would come March 2017. It did.
They are the only company to not put microtransactions in a game you pay for up front, at least to my knowledge.
They said theyd stock SNES Classic better, thry did.
Its when they say they WONT do something is when you get suspicious
Now Playing: Mario & Luigi Brothership, Sonic x Shadow Generations
Now Streaming: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
Night Trap got a Teen rating? That’s actually funny when you think about it, It was conserded the most mature game for a while. Just goes to show how far video games in general have come since the 90s.
Just a geek that likes video games, and spends to much time playing Smash Bros. and Fortnite.

@YummyHappyPills They aren't even close to the only ones not to do microtransactions. Let me know if I'm wrong on any of these, but Sega, Capcom, Square Enix, Konami, WB Games, Telltale, XSeed/Marvelous, NISA, 505, Koei Tecmo, Deep Silver, and THQ Nordic haven't used them yet as far as I can find.
