@Dogorilla The fact that Just Dance 2018 for the Wii is in the top 100 should surprise me, but I’m still recovering from the shock of Just Dance 2018 being released for the Wii.

So Wolfenstein 2 physical version will require a download. Not at all surprising but disappointing none the less. How big that download will be I guess we'll have to wait and see.
@OorWullie That's unsurprising. The game is huge on other platforms, and I doubt they could get it to fit on a 32GB card, which are expensive as it is. A 64GB card, even if it was available, would be so expensive that games would have a near non-existant profit margin.
@IceClimbers Will it even be on a 32gb though. As far as I'm aware ,no other game released in the west has come on a 32gb card. We could be looking at something like a 16gb card with an 18gb+ download. Pretty sure WWE 2K18 was around that figure. A 32gb card with a few gig to download would be fine but if the download is bigger than the card then it's going to get a lot of bad press.
16gb cart with 10gb download is my guess. Doesn't matter to me. I'm buying Wolf2 digital for immediate access 24/7 like DOOM. Cart is for the shelf. I have come to terms with this some time ago.
More and more I'm opening up to an all digital future. More and more I'm just not giving a crap about physical releases. Maybe it would be different if every game was all on the cart and no updates were needed and all the DLC was included every time from day one... but in the day and age we live in, physical media has just become so much less appealing. And digital has become so much more appealing.
I'm not there yet. But... I'm getting there. If I didn't already have 100 physical games for X1/PS4, I'd go all digital on those systems. When next generation starts I think that's what I'm going to do. The only system I will continue buying physical games for is Nintendo platforms. And even then, I may cut it down to key 1st party titles only. Then I will never have to worry about all the nonsense that comes along as baggage with physical media nowadays.

@JaxonH I've been mostly all digital for the last 2 gens. I had a few discs for Wii U but half of them were games that came with the console bundle I got and the rest were games.I picked up cheap. With Switch I own over 100 games yet only FIFA and Doom are on card. The only reason I bought them this way was to save huge chunks being taken off my SD card.I have no interest in owning physical games whatsoever and I wanted to go 100% digital with Switch but after seeing how quickly my storage was disappearing I decided that any big 3rd party games with a large file size I buy will be physical purchases.I already spend so much on Switch ,I don't want to be spending a lot on storage also. I have already accepted a single SD card isn't going to cut it,not by a long shot but I don't want it to get silly.
Unfortunately the supply lines have been cut, and my shipment has not yet arrived. 100gb remain out of 432gb... such havok wreaked in just a single year

@JaxonH
My games are 99.99 % Physical.
It's so neat to see Game boxes sorted tidily on shelf like books in the bookshelf. 😉
Collecting things is my hobby actually.
And i ONLY buy the games i want to play.

@Anti-Matter
Ya, that's how I felt too... Until recently.
Now the allure of physical stuff is slowly fading. Nothing lasts forever in this world. Why bother storing up things on this earth that will ultimately rot anyways.
That's where my mind is at. Now it's just a matter of getting my actions in sync with my mindset

Oh, btw. This is my updated Shelf. I Re-Arrange some games into specific categories.
I put my PS2 & PS4 games on top, separated with Nintendo games section.

@JaxonH Haha ,nice one .I would love to do the same but I just couldn't justify it to myself. I do dislike the inconvenience of swapping game cards ,I know it's such a minor inconvenience but I learned with Wii U that whenever I'm undecided on what game to play I'm much more likely to choose a digital one over a physical one ,unless it happen to be already in the system. It's not just the convenience of digital though,I find having all your games on your system being just a button press away hugely appealing, especially with a console like the Switch. I haven't traded a game in since the early 90's so digital games having no resell value is of no concern to me.
My plan is to have my 2nd SD card filled with the games I don't really like as well as rarely played games and ones that I've already completed. That way I can have my main SD card in my system 90%+ of the time.
My approach is pretty much physical where possible for Nintendo consoles (though not necessarily physical if it releases after digital like Sonic Mania) and XB1 depends on factors like file size, physical extras and how much of the game is actually on the disc.
In general, for all media and not just games, I'll just go for whatever is cheaper except when:
1. It's a movie, I'll go BluRay because outside of streaming digital distribution of movies is garbage
2. I'll get a digital copy of a game if it's something I want to have ready to go (i.e. Animal Crossing)
3. There's some particularly good deal that makes one a better "value"
4. For music I'll still pay extra and wait to get the CD if it's from an artist I'm a huge fan of

I was leaning towards digital in the Wii U era but I’ve swung back to preferring physical for a few reasons:
1- they’re silent now. I’d started to prefer digital as a quiet option but now there are no spinning discs I’m happy again.
2- size and portability. In a similar vein I never liked having a library of DVD sized boxes next to my tv. But Switch allows me to keep a dozen loose carts in the carry case. Again this eroded one big advantage of digital.
3- resale value. I’m not a huge eBayer but I’ve done a bit in the past (actually made a profit watching the complete Marvel Cinematic Universe on new BluRays and selling them immediately afterwards).
I’m also in the process of moving house which has focused my mind on slowly clearing out some of the deadwood in my hoard of games. Those sales will handily fund my Switch purchases for the year and if I buy physical those games will fund my purchases 10-20 years down the line.
4- physical is often cheaper anyway. Especially for Nintendo first party games.
5- I can lend physical games.
It’s not clear cut (obviously) and there are some things I’d like always on my Switch home screen but I just think the calculus has changed slightly versus where we where with the Wii U.
It is a bit different with games than other kinds of media though. With games we accept that when you buy one particular format you're going to play it on that device. But if you buy a movie for example you will want to play it on iOS, Android, PC on your TV and wherever. Also with a game you are unlikely to still be playing a game you got today next year and certainly not years down the road. But that copy of Powderfinger's Internationalist I got in High School is still on my phone.
Probably the biggest one is that the game is physically the same regardless of what media you play it on. There are large differences between the quality of a movie on DVD, BluRay, Neflix, iTunes or Google Play. And if I'm streaming it the quality will even change depending on what my internet connection is like. But if I buy Breath of the Wild on Switch? It's the same game whether I get it digitally or physically.

If the digital games were the same price as physical carts (or preferably slightly cheaper as they should be) then I would happily do away with physical releases of my Switch games.
However, that is seldom the case and if I can buy a game cheaper physically, plus gain the benefit of sharing that cart across our two family Switches, physical will remain my preferred option.
That said, I have bought vastly more digital eShop games (arcade releases/Nindies) for my Switch so far, saving key 1st Party and 3rd Party retail titles for my physical Switch purchases.
I seldom ever sell on games nowadays but if a game costs over £25, I still prefer to buy that title physically, just in case I don't get on with it. Moreover, a tiny bit of me (old fashioned thinking it may be) still expects to have something tangible in my hands if I have spent a decent chunk of money.
However, I can definitely envisage a time in the near future where I will go 100% digital. I recently bought a second copy of SPLATOON 2 with the Octo Expansion DLC in a digital bundle for near £70. Have I missed not having that second copy on Cart with a Box? Not for a second. Having that game on my wife and son's Switch has been ideal. They can hit the icon and play, no need for swapping carts which is what I still have to do (digital is definitely making me lazier).
Most significantly for me, having two small children has pretty much seen me reduce the physical media and book sprawl of my posssions by over 50% already. The Mrs. likely won't be happy until it's like 10% of what I once owned, bless her lol! But hey, the older I get the more I just appreciate enjoying the limited time I spend with my media in the actual using of it (watching, playing, reading, listening). Rather than my former self, who would spend inordinate amounts of time and money just collecting the stuff. Times, they are a changin'.
As for SD Cards. I have a 200GB in my launch Switch. Still have plenty of room free as like I said, I have bought the 1st Party Nintendo retail games and a few key 3rd Party titles physically to date. We put a 128 GB card in our second Switch. Hoping that lasts as we are only likely to download second copies of games we need for multiplayer digitally on that system and the odd eShop game my wife or son would like for their own device.

Yeh, if you've got a family, digital purchases on Switch are madness unless you're so loaded you can afford a copy each.
Games that are dependent on download e.g. Wolf2, really should come with a guaranteed minimum term the download will be available for at the point of sale.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
