So when is DQ Builders dropping... Feb 9th? Probably gonna have to put DQ and Bayonetta aside, since this MH playthrough will take all of Feb. Even Xenoblade 2 took me 1.5 months and that was 200 hrs, about what I'm expecting here.
Which means it'll probably be Kirby that's next on the list. And I am a Kirby fan ever since Robobot, but I can't say it's one of the absolute top shelf series I am crazy for. Looks like, for the next truly big and exciting game, it's gonna be May with DKC Tropical Freeze. Even though I have already played it it's been several years (4, in fact?) so it'll feel pretty new. But even that game I wouldn't put on my absolute most excited list simply because I have played the game before. Dark Souls Remastered is hype, but I can't say it's on my absolute "to die for" list. Maybe not far behind, because I promised my brother I would play it if it ever came to Switch, but still not super top tier. Just regular top-tier.
So really, it could be a while before the next Zelda BotW/Mario Odyssey/Xenoblade 2/MH World comes along. Probably Fire Emblem 16. And that could be autumn, or later even. I suppose The World Ends With You hits that list for me, since I've never played the game and my brother says it's one of the best JRPG's he's played in his entire life, and he's a hard-core JRPG fan so he's played pretty much everything.
Dragon Quest XI will also be on that list. But I don't wanna get my hopes up in case the Switch version is delayed behind the other versions still for the western release. Oh!!! Oh.. right. Valkyria Chronicles 4. Yes. That one is definitely top of the list.
So, there's Fire Emblem 16, Valkyria Chronicles 4, Dragon Quest XI and The World Ends With You. Obviously Metroid Prime 4 will be on the list, but that game is a ways out yet I imagine. Is there anything else? Anything that's on the level of Zelda/Mario/MH/Fire Emblem/DQ/Valkyria Chronicles/TWEWY? On any system? Oh, there's Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Yup. That one too. But aside from those games I can't really think of any.

@JaxonH There's YS VIII. It's not going to be Odyssey, BOTW tier but XC2 tier is possible.
Personally I'm really looking forward to Mario Tennis Aces . Love a good tennis game. I'm confident they'll right the wrongs of Ultra Smash. My main hope is it has a few online modes with rankings and mini tournaments. If so I'll be playing it for a long time to come.
@OorWullie
I'm really looking forward to Mario Tennis myself. I loved the game on Wii, and have fond memories of playing with my friend before she died every other Saturday at 3am after she'd get done bartending...
So I'm anxious to relive some of that. It needs motion controls though. Needs em.
Still, I gravitate towards the big epic journey type games. RPG's in particular. Y's VIII is high priority too, one of the highest, actually. But it's not on the same level as Xenoblade. I have Y's VII. And while this one looks much improved, and by all right looks to be a phenomenal JRPG in a time when phenomenal JRPG's are hard to come by, I'm not sure I'd consider it in the same ballpark. Moreso along the lines of Tales games, or Star Ocean, which are solid B-class JRPG's. I just don't think it has the epic story, and the truly great JRPG's need that epic story (even Xenoblade X had a better story than most JRPG's). Takahashi and Sakaguchi are pretty much the only A-game left in town. And Sakaguchi has been on a mobile hiatus for years now.

Yea, a good Mario tennis game is gonna be awesome. I've always loved stylized, arcadey sports and racing games. People will put hundreds of hours into stuff like Final Fantasy and Xenoblade: I put hundreds of hours into Mario Tennis and NBA Playgrounds lol
@rallydefault Yep I'm the same. Rocket League is that game for me just now, I can't get enough of of it. 150 hours I've put in so far and I'm enjoying it more now than ever. Add a quality tennis game into the mix and I don't know how I'll find time to play anything else.
@Octane Ya, I saw that along with a few other things. It's just stuff we'd already heard before. Seeing Emily Rogers name being mentioned again. She'd previously said this:
"I'm going to be brutally honest with you.
Nintendo's strategy with 2018 is to rely on third party stuff + ports of older games.
They believe that's enough to hold them over until 2019 when they bring out the big guns. (Metroid, etc)
@Octane I'm not sure I feel there's a need to port New Super Mario Brothers U, especially with 3 2D platform games already coming this year. Each game in the New franchise just got worse and more stale, that's my personal opinion though.

Apparently Smash and NSMBU are rumoured ports for the Switch, both coming this year as well.
Ugh. Why did I even ask for the Switch. It's turning out to be even more of a Wii U port machine every single day. It's so pathetic.
NSMBU being ported to the Switch is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. That game was already so port-like that when I got it for free with my Wii U, I popped it in one time and couldn't even play it it was so boring.
Oh well, I don't think a new NSMB would be exciting either but at least it wouldn't be another lazy port. I mean this is a lazy port of a lazy port-like entry. I have no words.
My Switch is going to collect so much dust this year I might not even be able to find it under the dust.
@Octane I hope Nintendo isn't going to focus too strongly on ports this year, because as it stands there's not a whole load of good stuff coming from them first party wise and I don't think relying on third party is going to work out well.
I realise most people never owned or knew of the Wii U so for them it's acceptable, it's just a crap game compared to previous entries. Again my opinion.
