@diwdiws the game doesnt even look that good... they cant be that bad at coding that it is not just something they are trying to push really hard on the graphics just to get it to look as good as it can look on xbox./
@Inertiacreep I really like the Yoshi games and the Kirby games too but they're not system sellers. I'm not sure we know of any for 2018. Smash Bros. Wii U if it gets ported and Pokemon if it releases next year, otherwise, what else do we know that will sell like wildfire?
Edit: And by the way, I'd like to see Platinum Games make a Metroid game under the stewardship of Nintendo.
@FragRed They wouldn't put all 3 games on a 32GB cart, they'd put 1 on an 8GB cart and then the other 2 games being either a compulsory update like DOOM's multiplayer or as download codes like Resident Evil Revelations 2.
@Inertiacreep i know it doesnt seem like a resource intensive game but the performace on xbox is what it is and i dont have any reason to believe that the same problems wont affect the switch. It may be due to the engine itself and From really isnt known for their technical prowes.
That's actually a fair point about Dark Souls. Maybe it'll just be Dark Souls 3. But it definitely won't be the first or second game without the third. It'll either be DS3 or DS Trilogy. If we're really lucky they'll make an exclusive game, which is not out of the realm of possibility but I wouldn't count on it.
We heard they got Dark Souls 3 running on Switch, so I do believe it's possible. It's true they don't have frame rate they can cut, but apparently they got it running somehow so... there are other ways you can optimize. I was watching the latest IGN Nintendo Voice Chat round table, and they had the president of Factor 5 (who is also VP of Technology at Hulu) on the show. One of the many things they talked about was porting games to seemingly impossible hardware, which Factor 5 had done many times in the past. He said you take the essence of the game, and focus on maintaining that. And he said as you do so, you'll note little things here and there that most people probably wouldn't notice if it was gone. And you start removing this or taking away that, maybe turning down the settings here, etc.
I think we've seen far more impossible ports. And Dark Souls 3 wasn't that demanding of a game I don't think. Not like DOOM was.

lol exactly. First 2 games on cart. 3rd as a 15gb download. Surely.

@FragRed From Software worked together with Sony's Japan Studio to create Bloodborne. It may have been mostly Sony's staff who worked on the game, don't know the exact ratio, but I do know they paid for all of it. I don't think that's something Nintendo would do. But they paid for Bayonetta 2 as well... who knows?
@Grumblevolcano Dark Souls 1, 2 and 3 are are around 4, 7 and 17GB respectively. Should fit on a 32GB card in theory.
@Ralizah From what I played of MoF I thought they were an excellent choice to do SR. Now MoF was an ok game but the quality on the 3ds at least was really high. Great action, graphics, and 3d depth I couldn't stop watching it. Gameplay wasn't near as top notch but they had some things right.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
@Octane I never said couldn't though. I said wouldn't and that's from us already seeing a lot of 3rd parties choose large downloads/patches over using a larger cart. So from the file sizes you've given I'd guess either 1 and 2 on 16GB cart with 3 as a download or 1 on a 8GB cart with 2 and 3 as a download.
@Spanjard
I don't think they'd do that. Wii U was a failing console where devs were cutting costs any way they could, minimizing losses. Switch is super hot and 3rd party games are selling.
But, assuming they did, I would be OK with that because it's not so story driven like ME, and it's Dark Souls on Switch. I'll take what I can get.
It's quite possibly the GotY edition of Dark Souls 3. They could release all versions simultaneously across the board, so people can't whine about the $60 price on Switch since it'll be $60 on other consoles too.

@UmniKnight Portability (Puyo Puyo Tetris, Sonic Mania, Sonic Forces, DOOM) but DOOM had the added advantage of the multiplayer being more likely to be active over the other versions.

Wrong. Mass Effect 3 was a launch game for Wii U. EA decided pretty early that they weren't going to give it a fair shot. They only made a few games, FIFA 13 was a lazy, gimped port(ring any bells?), ME3 was dead in the water thanks to the trilogy announcement on other platforms, plus it had been out elsewhere 6 months prior. You know, the best game published by EA was NFS: Most Wanted and that was thanks to Criterion Games. Many say it was the definitive edition but again it unfortunately arrived too late.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE you dont think next year is going to be a huge year for Switch games and that more and more people are going to catch on the thing is just fabulous? Sales will be very healthy next year for Switch consoles, anybody want to argue against that?
@UmniKnight
Iâm a Nintendo only gamer now, due to lack of time to play. But I choosed the Switch because portability and due to liking its first party offerings more than those in the PS4âs.
I agree those are the key reasons you'd buy a multiplat on Switch. Either it's your only console, in which case you'll be grateful for the opportunity to play the games, or you want the game portably. Or, you want certain Switch exclusive features such as motion aiming in Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2, or Skyrim. A lot of people love that motion aiming. Can toss HD Rumble in with the motion aiming as unique features.
That's more reasons than people had on Wii or Wii U. Without the portability and unique features, people would have zero reasons to buy a multiplat on Nintendo, aside from simply having no other options.
But who cares anyways. What's important is that we now have yet one more option on the market. We already had "high powered graphics" as an option. Thrice over in fact. You know what doesn't excite me? A 4th option that's exactly the same as the other 3. You know what does excite me? A 4th option that's actually different from the other 3. In reality the other 3 options are really just 1. Because they're all the same. So in reality we've only ever had 1 option for multiplats- either you want a super maxed out home console version, or you want a super maxed out home console version, or you want a super maxed out home console version. Hmmm... tough choice.
But now, we actually have a real alternative. And it's not replacing the other options. You can still get your super maxed out home console version if that's what you want. But now we have an additional option... one that's actually different. Now we can actually buy games to play anywhere. Now we can actually buy games with unique features that add to the experience. That's a great thing. Options are fantastic.

I lack the time to play on multiple consoles as well, so I always pick up a system that has the best chances of getting the next big Mario, Zelda, Xenoblade, and Metroid games. That system also happens to be the most innovative, consumer-friendly and energy-efficient system on the market everytime.
Of course when third parties give their best effort (i.e Disgaea 5 Complete, Mario+Rabbids, DOOM, L.A. Noire, Skyrim) there's a very high chance that I'm getting those along as well.
Nintendo's games look immaculate. You're putting way too much stock into marginal graphical increases. Way too much stock.
A few years ago Switch graphics would have been top shelf. The best we ever saw on consoles. But now all of a sudden, because a stronger console exists, it's not good enough? And then when next generation comes, and games look even better, all of a sudden it won't be good enough, yet again.
Stop basing your happiness on how well a game looks "in comparison to" and start appreciating it for how good it looks on its own merits. Otherwise you will be perpetually dissatisfied for the rest of your natural life.

@UmniKnight How many gamers actually own more than 1 console though? I only have one, not because I can't afford another but because one is enough for me. I have been gaming since the early 80's and I've never owned more than 1 from the same gen. Well technically I have since I had the Dreamcast then GameCube but the DC was done for by that point. All of my mates only have 1 console too.So I would say single console owners are the vast majority rather than the minority. So there's your answer about who these multiplats are for.
