@IceClimbers Those GAFfers need to be reminded PS*2* is still supported in Japan, along with PSP.

@Grumblevolcano While true, I'd expect most of it to be the remaining localizations. Not a lot of those left either.

I struggle to think what else they could have 1st party wise.

@Grumblevolcano With the exception of Metroid and Sushido being held back for E3 (the latter hardly being a major title), I think that last Direct was basically Nintendo emptying both barrels in a final salvo for 3DS before E3 and the Pokemon announcement formally stepped away from 3DS beyond already known support and some limited editions for the large customer base. Ishihara announcing Pokemon was akin to 3DS as Reggies "we're in a state of transition to NX" was for WiiU.

@NEStalgia Right, but are those being supported with new content?

Reggie's statement specifically mentions new content. Given that he's part of NoA though, localizations would count as new content.

Now that I think about it, the Yokai Watch localizations alone would count as support into 2019 if they localize the 3rd version of YW3 separately like they're doing with YW2.

I think 3DS in 2018 will mostly be localizations but have a few major games in the form of remakes and ports so kind of like this year. Finishing off the major 3DS support with something like Diamond and Pearl remakes in holiday 2018 leading to Gen 8 starting off with new games exclusive to Switch in holiday 2019.

Fun quote from Reggie from an IGN interview: “But look, in the end, what we want is we want the consumer to call it their device, right? Their preferred gaming device that they can play fantastic Zelda, Mario, third-party content, all of their favorite franchises brought to life on the platform. That’s what we want. And we’re greedy and we want Nintendo 3DS right alongside it.”"

For once, Reggie tells the unfiltered truth

@IceClimbers "New Content" in PR can mean anything, really. Disney licenced games, check. Yokai localizations, check. Random Game Boy VC title, check. That's all support.

Wii's getting Just Dance 2018. There's always new content for old consoles even if they're long dormant PSP actually does get new content in Japan (I'm pretty sure not on UMD though.......)

Not surprising NoE is localizing after hearing the voice overs. What tyme is it? Makes sense though since they're familiar with the first one and working with the team for it. NoA is no doubt bogged down with Odyssey, Fire Emblem stuff, Ever Oasis, ARMS, Splatoon, Rabbids and stuff we can't know about. Seems like localization is done, or mostly done on XC2 though. The devs said they just needed 2 more weeks to get the English voices in the build ("E3 just needs to be moved back a bit")

IceClimbers

@NEStalgia "Random Game Boy VC title"

Pokemon Crystal of course.

@Grumblevolcano DP remakes most definitely are not happening next year. Gen 8 on Switch is next after Ultra S/M. 2018 will likely be a break year for mainline Pokemon.

Really the only new title I can think of would be an Etrian Odyssey 3 Untold.

Hmm...wondering why Steep and Rayman haven't been put up here (for that matter why hasn't Ubisoft announced dates?)...

http://nintendoeverything.com/nintendo-highlights-2017-switch...

I still view the 3ds stuff as third pillar talk. Games that are built from the ground up for switch will at BEST be locked to the n3ds so I'm sure Nintendo will leave an option to devs that are big on multiplat to still put games on switch but I think aside from the localization on the way the majority of new 3ds projects have been announced are wrapping up or are migrating to Switch. That doesn't mean the 3ds will just fall off the sales map; it is a cheap and easy to find alternative with a fantastic library. Can't afford a switch? Get a 3ds...you will have plenty to play. Plus many newer games seem to be made with the thought of pushing one to the switch. FE Warriors on 3ds and FE Echoes are interim games to get you ready for the switch game when it drops (CANT WAIT), Metroid Samus Returns brings back a traditional metroid game to prepare you for Prime 4. Even hey pikmin could be thought of as a primer game since Pikmin 4 is still a thing or Xenoblade for that matter...interest in 2 might drum up sales for the 3ds (and Wii VC version on WiiU) and get more gamers hyped for 2 (and thus buy a switch). However it still gives what looks like steady support (even though most of it is localizations) so that 3ds gamers won't feel like they were dropped like a hot potato.

@Ryu_Niiyama I wouldn't read into that. The tweet says that it's just some of the titles, not all of them. There's a few games on both platforms not listed there (DB Xenoverse 2 and Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 on Switch; EOV, Yokai Watch 2 and Lady Layton on 3DS).

@IceClimbers I think I'm just annoyed with the lack of Steep info more than anything. I am averaging two retail switch games a month so I'm not really starving for games.

Edit: I love ARMS. Nintendo is killing it this year!

I'm not sure what I did to get this, but my left joy-con no longer locks securely onto the Switch, etc. I took a close look, and saw that the little mechanism that locks it looks chipped away. It only disconnects with extraneous movement and whenever I adjust the volume, but it still messes up my Mario Kart races frequently. It's such a bummer that something like this happened so soon in its life. At leasts its the joycon, which are more a bit replacable than the system itself.

Got married.

That sucks. The JoyCons do seem like they'll be prone to some wear and tear, especially for people who don't own a Pro controller or a second pair of JoyCons.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE That will change for the better when Splatoon, Monster Hunter, Pokemon, and at some point Animal Crossing comes out. However considering how early on we are with the Switch I'd say that's really good.

So everyone who owns a Switch bought BOTW,another 40% bought of them MK8D and and another 20% bought 1 of the other retail titles.

Or something like that

Who on earth buys a Nintendo Switch, but doesn't buy Zelda or Mario Kart lol... I guess those people exist, but it's hard for me to fathom why. Just wanna tell these people they're doing it wrong. So wrong 😁

@JaxonH Well if they have a Wii U and don't care about portability or the MK8 Deluxe exclusive content then they may not want to get BotW or MK8 Deluxe on Switch but rather stick with MK8 and BotW for Wii U.

@Grumblevolcano
I guess the specific people you refer to get a pass. As for everyone else... we need to have a serious conversation.

I have skipped mk8d since I had it on Wii u. If they had reduced the price for those that had already bought the dlc, I might have bought it. If they have a sale, I will probably buy it.

We did buy arms.
