@BLP_Software A, B.1 and B.3 will likely happen in a warp in the west style scenario. I know EA feels they can do whatever they want because they have a monopoly on sports games but they are burning more than Nintendo bridges when they do stuff like this. I also feel like Konami might try PES (not this year obviously) because of the interest that bomberman of all games inspired.
@MarcelRguez Oh hey you and Jaxon were going at it so hard I kinda skipped over. I can see where you are coming from but aside from Zero (ugh kill it with fire) I don't see successive sequels as devaluing the brand. However I don't buy every single iteration of most franchises. I love NHL but the most recent games I bought were 04, 08 (GO CANES) and 16. So I feel that so long as the game is solid from a technical stanpoint and fun you can pump out annual releases no problem. People don't have to buy them every year. The issue (for me) is when the quality goes to pot as well. Does Bomberman R look amazing? Nope. But it plays like bomberman...and since I bought a bomberman game to play bomberman I don't really care about the previous versions. Which is also why I said that the consumer has to decide from themselves if they see perceived value in the game...but that has no baring on the game itself. It impacts sales of course but there are a lot of gamers in the world...if the game is well made and fun...somebody will buy it.
Frostbyte 3.0 also runs on the PS360 (Battlefield 4 for instance) so I really would love to hear EA's side of this. Really the only thing I'll accept is that they were trying to get the game out on time...and that next year's will use Frostbyte. They won't say that but of course that means 18 will be my last Fifa...I'm not playing this game with EA when I have enough games at my house to fill a gamestop. It isn't even about sending a message...it is about there are too many good games out there to stress over boardroom politics. I feel bad for the sports only gamers though.

What did the 3ds have that boosted sales? And where was EA?
Its not a cause-effect, you misunderstood.
Its a case of for us, it becomes a none issue if Pokemon is there as Switch gains what 3DS had, even eithout EA. If it diesnt get Pokemon then we consider the EA problem.
As stated, ifbwe get Pokemon on Switch, the FIFA problem becomes a non issue. Itll be that massive mainstream beast. If not...then we pick which loss to take.

@MarcelRguez I think the system also needs good news going into E3. Today has been blows all day.
If tomorrow goes well its positive buzz for Switch going into its first E3. If not, then itll be a long week until the Nintendo stuff. And the media and public perception will latch onto that.

@BLP_Software I was cracking a joke. However even with the mega explosion pokemon will cause, a dearth of sports games and popular franchises (EAWare games) is going to be noticed and will feed the "Nintendo is kiddie" or is "bad at being a Hardware manufacturer" or "Nintendo gamers only like certain games" brain vomit that keeps surfacing like a spider on steroids.
Let's hope the suits at EA push for more profit and thus more games on a popular system such as the Switch. Hopefully they wont take two years to do so and then get mad when nobody shows up.

@MarcelRguez I think one of things Nintendo has been clever with but which puts it at odds with the rest of the industry is that they've defended the inherent value of their games.
Could they have sold Yoshis Woolly World for £50 if every other platformer was 99p or if an equivalently ambitious game like DKTF was already sub £20 at the time? No. And if they couldn't sell it for that the numbers probably wouldn't stack up to make it in the first place.
Of course it also gives Nintendo games a longer tail and makes them less reliant on a big (& expensive) push to sell loads in the first week.
@Ryu_Niiyama I think this is important. It's not just how many Switches does Nintendo sell but what type of games do those owners buy that will dictate what games we get going forwards.
@BLP_Software Especially with the power debate resurfacing with Microsoft's apparent focus on hardware (Scorpio) rather than games on Sunday's press conference.
I agree with @MarcelRguez here. Let's also not forget that the missing mode, isn't just a missing mode, it's the story mode. The thing that made FIFA 17 noteworthy. They did something new for once (and didn't charge extra for it). So another story mode (and they're pretty long too) is big news. If I owned a Switch too and I wanted FIFA 18, I would certainly get the PS4 version. I also don't really care about portability, but despite that, I still think the Switch is getting a gimped version, and portability isn't going to make up for that. I also don't think that not buying the game is sending the wrong message. If they decide their entire future support on a gimped released of a single game, the joke's on them. On the other hand, buying it just to show you want EA support could also mean sending the message that you're OK with gimped versions on the Switch, so it works both ways.
@Ryu_Niiyama True, I recognise the situation is different, but I just mentioned it because it felt like the Switch owners were getting the short end of the stick once again. I think both of those games (SFII and Bomberman) are overpriced for what they are, but that's just my personal opinion. $30 would've been a fairer price, and even then I'd consider it a tough pill to swallow.
@MarcelRguez Very few third parties defend the value of their products. Shovel Knight comes to mind though - they could have put the game on sale at any point but they've retained a relatively premium price and have been rewarded for it.
Minecraft too if I think about it.
Of course failing to defend the launch price of a product has implications. If you don't buy a Ubisoft game at launch for instance then most sensible people won't buy it until an 80-90% off sale comes around.
Saying that, what's stopping Nintendo from announcing the 3DS and Switch version at the same time though, just like they did with Super Smash Bros. on both the 3DS and Wii U a couple of years ago?
As long as the Switch gets a mainline Pokémon game of some form, I shall be happy and content.
