My theory is that this is a 3d/HD remake of the original Legend of Zelda for NES. This version has been compared to that one multiple times. Also, Link could wear blue in that one as well.
Again, just a theory....
That Link looks nothing like the art for the original Link, though, even aside from the attire. There was no Epona, either, and the land looks way too complex to be close to the first. Even if they take heavy influence and make the map similar in layout, you couldn't justify calling it a remake.
The Sail Cloth returns, and only SS used it. If you know what the Sail Cloth represents, you could argue that this game takes place at the very beginning of the timeline with Hylia and the chosen hero. The bow from the E3 trailer seemed kind of.... advanced for Zelda, and Lanayru Province in SS was advanced when you hit the Timeshift Stones and went back to the past.
Then again, they could always implement the Sail Cloth (or something like it) anywhere in the timeline anyway and not need an explanation other than it being nifty.

This was pretty self evident, but nice to see the glorious return of day/night cycle nonetheless. Looks like the time is 19:00 or 7 PM on the cliff scene. I hope it's implemented properly with all the people having daily tasks and the sort, like a shepherd rising at the break of dawn to take care of the flock, and maybe enemies could randomly attack him and the player could choose the help or ignore him.
What do you think of the Gamepad implementation BTW? Map, gyroscope and inventory (hidden behind the button on the bottom right corner, I presume) is all good, if a tad boring. Of course, we were given only a glimpse, so do you think Ninty will have a few good tricks up its sleeve regarding Gamepad or will they leave it at that?
Here's the video without the American dub. You can now hear the game sounds, some music, and their actual voices.
Not digging that music. I thought we would have a fully orchestrated soundtrack in Zelda with the release of KI:U, MK8, and the Super Mario Galaxy games all having fully orchestrated soundtracks. Even ALBW had better MIDI instruments than the battle music here. And also SS had about a 60% orchestrated soundtrack. Here's hoping a majority of the soundtrack in Zelda Wii U is orchestrated.
Almost 10 yrs ago when Koji Kondo was writing the music for TP he was contemplating using a string quartet for the smaller pieces of music and a full orchestra for the grand epic pieces like Hyrule Field and the boss battles, an idea I love that I wish they would use in a Zelda game sometime.
"The future doesn't belong to you!"
Waiting for: BOTW 2, Metroid Prime 4, Xenoblade Chronicles 3
I couldn't care less if anything in any game is orchestrated or not. Just let it have good, suiting, memorable music that really sets the mood. Instead of the SS overworld theme where you feel like you're playing Mario Galaxy...
To be fair, that's most likely placeholder music that we hear in the video. They're probably still composing the music for it, and if you recall, there's a four month gap, from June to October, in which the Zelda Symphony will not be performing. I believe it's safe to assume that they will do the music recording for the game in that time frame.
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)

What makes you think this game won't get a full orchestra?
The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
I think we shouldn't believe this is how the music will sound when most of it doesn't actually have music. Probably just a quickie rough draft version Koji Kondo made or something like that.
I don't think this is immediately after SS or anything like that. We've seen a pretty developed world. We even saw Hyrule castle in the launch trailer. My guess is that this game will take place after FSA. That's a timeline that has Ganon in it, and there is a lot of potential for new stories.
On an unrelated note, If this game lacks a motion control option, and the combat isn't improved such that it takes advantage of button only combat (i.e. It's faster and involves more than one button), I'm gonna be pissed. It'll just add to my list of problems with the Wii U.
I hope they don't try and push the gamepad to much on this one. I do love it but I think for now what they have is spot on other than using it in mini games I hope there's lots of mini games to master.

It's most likely buttons only. Now that I've played SS and OoT 3D, I can definitely say that buttons with minimal motion control is a lot better than full motion control
