@Octane ok I didnt know that, cheers for pointing that out. That's a real bummer though, after they have forced the GamePad onto so many games that didn't ne....nevermind, I'llnever understand how this company operates...
Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...
Lower sound quality had me worried for a second, then I remembered, how big can the difference even be? You probably wouldn't even notice it if they didn't told you. Lower drawing distance sucks, but whatever, I'm just going to pretend that Link has bad eyesight.
I personally don't care, but it's still weird that they decided to screw over their loyal fanbase on the Wii U by making the special editions exclusive to the Switch version.
Well technically the loyal fanbase are the ones buying the Switch on launch.
Any loyalty I have to Nintendo was anchored to the idea that the Wii U would have a big new Zelda game. So that's where I'm buying it. The Switch has to earn it's reputation without Zelda for me.
I don't think it's honestly that hard to keep one's fact's straight on the internet.
Lol which version of 2016 were you watching.
The one where people chose ignorance out of their own lack of critical capacity. Their failure (not speaking about anyone here) doesn't suddenly make not being ignorant hard.
Or possibly, you're confusing a lack of critical capacity with a different value system that leads to people just giving different facts a different weighting in their importance. Just a hypothesis.
@Octane Here is the main menu. The player brings up the Sheikah Slate menu a few moments later. I hate it that games always have two pause menus these days. It defeats the purpose of having diegetic pause screens like the Pipboy and Sheikah Slate.
@Haru17 I see. Yeah, I agree, it's stupid. Especially since the map and the quests are on different pages. Toggling between them is going to be a pain in the arse.
So the inventory has a Adventure Log, Inventory and System tab. The Inventory is split up between weapons, bows, shields, armor, ingredients, food and special items(?). The Adventure Log has a tab for quests and memories, I don't know the other two though.
The Sheikah Slate has a map, rune tab according to you and two empty pages. Any idea what the last two pages are for?
@Octane Someone on Reddit translated the boxy Hylian script to 'Rune, 'Map,' 'Album,' and 'Hyrule Compendium. Not me, lmao, but you'll notice that rune — the tab to the left when he opens it up — is only four characters because the Hylian typeset is 1 to 1 (and doesn't include spaces).
You're spot on on the adventure log, no idea about the other tabs myself. Going back to the SS menu, something I found interesting was that the album and Hyrule Compendium tabs simply stated that the Slate was damaged. So perhaps repairing it will be some sort of story moment. Anyway, my guess is that album is for photos (a feature presumably unlocked after Link repairs his Sheikah Slate) and that Hyrule Compendium has bios for all of the animals, monsters, and bosses Link comes across. It would be super awesome if they had written bios like in past games and 3D model viewers kind of like The Wind Waker, but more recently like Pokemon and Nier: Automata.
Finally, the rune tab makes me very hopeful for either a large variety or an upgradable selection of runes.
What I'm praying for is an upgrade to magnesis that allows Link to magnetize metal armor to cling to metal surfaces like the iron boots (since I assume metal armor will make Link sink to the bottom of lakes by default, because physics). And can't you already grab metal weapons out of enemies' hands? I know I saw a metal-plated lizalfos in the trailer.
Besides bokoblins and lizalfos, what other returning Zelda enemies do you think would work as a typical camp enemy out in the world?
@Haru17 Now got me hyped about that stupid compendium. I love the little lists of enemies in games. Reading the bestiary or character entries in The Witcher is always one of my favourite things to do right away. Gave me a reason to fight new enemies, just to collect their bestiary page. I think that the Sheikah Slate doubling as a camera is also a save bet, it's a little weird, but whatever.
@Octane I'm good at getting people hyped for this game. One thing worth being optimistic about
Here's what other returning enemies I think we should expect: (Though generally I think Breath will continue the trend of missing more of these guys from Skyward Sword due to its focus on AI and emergent encounters.)
Camps / Groups
Darknut: It is almost certain that Link will fight an enemy by cutting off the different pieces of its armor at some point. Maybe they'll make them a whole group.
Iron Knuckle
Aeralfos (lizalfos with wings)
Undead
Poe
Bubble
ReDead: Slow-moving enemies are kind of in an odd spot in this game, since Link could just walk around them in the open world.
Magical
Wizzrobe: Teleporting wizards seem like a prefect fit for an open world. Remember the random mage duels in Skyrim?
Armos: I can already see the corrupted Sheikah armos design.
Natural
Deku Baba: Stationary enemies are again in a weird spot in this game, as Link can just run around them since it's open world. Bio Deku Babas? (lilypad babas) Baba Serpent? (can act independently from stem and bite onto Link) Let's hope.
Kargarok: Despite only being from TWW and TP, and the odd juxtaposition of Breath already having normal animal birds, I wouldn't rule out some type of bird enemy besides keese. Especially as a giant miniboss, which is more my hope than anything.
Skulltulla: Again, the animal juxtaposition, but do you really think we're going to get a Zelda game without a spider enemy?
Dodongo: Dislikes smoke.
Peahat: A roving, hovering knockback monster is another good fit for an open world horse-riding game. Remember the seahats in The Wind Waker? Maybe this has been incorporated into the guardian design and would render them redundant, though.
Leever:
Finally, the interesting about Breath's enemies is the diverse AI found in the campsite monsters and the diversity found in all of them. I can't comment on how the diversity compares to past 3D Zeldas, but all of the 'blins have stal versions, guardians come in all shapes and sizes, and chuchu and keese have elemental versions. And all of the enemies — including the minibosses — are used over and over again compared to previous games.
