@Tsurii I should've said Nintendo of America, but you get my point! I'm sure that in a week or two NOE will also update their site and update the box art for the Wii U version.
@Octane
I like the idea of that art, but I wish they would've either cropped it a bit wider or removed the birds in the top right corner altogether. Now they look like some awkward black blobs. Here's the uncropped version for reference:
Currently on the plate:
Mount and Blade: Warband – Napoleonic Wars
Chivalry
Super Mario 3D World – Finishing the last few levels.
Mario Kart 8
@ClockworkMario Compare the two, the birds aren't even in the same location, same is true for the ''background''. It's not the exact same image, looks like they specifically made it for the box art, which makes the presence of those birds all the more puzzling.
@Nicolai I know right? It's strange how the English version sticks out like that.
@Dezzy That's a pretty standard pose, used by hundreds of games and movies...
@Honelith Having an AVR with 1080p upscaling helps a bit, although the difference is not that big that it alone would justify buying an AVR unless you need it anyway.
@Dreamliner I was one of those who constantly stated that the Switch version will not feature superior graphics... but I was wrong. The Switch version will feature a much bigger draw distance, e.g. when you stand on top of a mountain, objects that a far away (like trees) still show a lot of detail (like leaves). It becomes really apparent in this comparison video:
@Octane@Dezzy They added the birds because the EU cover has way too much negative space above Link's head. Especially since the logo is at his feet.
The NA cover is just a much better composed piece of art, what with Link and his sword silhouetted (a technique the edgy Souls and Destiny covers forgo to have their subjects large in frame) against the skyline. And then to have Hyrule Castle and Death Mountain lined up from where he is is inspired. Even if the colors are a bit less saturated, the NA cover is just a better composition right down to the contrast between the parchment-toned title and the shadow created by the rock Link's standing upon.
Anyway, you can see all of Breath's concepts, promotional art, and both layers of the EU cover in my album here.
Not sure if this has been covered here yet, but Nintendo has supposedly provided some key differences to IGN between the Wii U and Switch versions of BotW.
-Both launch on the same day, March 3.
-Both have a frame rate of 30fps.
-Both versions of the game offer the same content.
-On a TV, the Nintendo Switch version of the game renders in 900p while the Wii U version renders in 720p.
-The Nintendo Switch version has higher-quality environmental sounds. As a result, the sound of steps, water, grass, etc. are more realistic and enhance the game’s Open-Air feel.
-The physical copy of the Wii U version will require 3GB of available memory on the Wii U system or an external drive.
-Some icons, such as onscreen buttons, differ between the two versions.
-A Special Edition and Master Edition of the Wii U version are not available.
Unless you're a spec nut, the differences seem truly minimal.
Lower sound quality had me worried for a second, then I remembered, how big can the difference even be? You probably wouldn't even notice it if they didn't told you. Lower drawing distance sucks, but whatever, I'm just going to pretend that Link has bad eyesight.
I personally don't care, but it's still weird that they decided to screw over their loyal fanbase on the Wii U by making the special editions exclusive to the Switch version.
@Tyranexx, I appreciate the high quality sounds. I never considered it a feature limited to cutting-edge technology before, though. I figured that technology was as good as it needed to be since the Gamecube.
I might need a Digital-Foundry comparison video for this one, lol.

They obviously want those people to waste their money on their next system instead of swag
The differences seem to be minimal, so I don't think anyone picking this up on WiiU will be missing out. Actually, the WiiU version has the added feature of the map/inventory on the GamePad, which obviously the Switch won't have.

Yeah it's weird but think of it in this way: LEs are cool if the game stays within a certain price range not too different from the standard edition (say 10-15 bucks more) . If you have to pay double the amount to get a fancy box with some useless plastic toy in it, they are not cool anymore.
And speaking of useless plastic toys, anybody knows what do amiibo do in this game?!
Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...
