I hope that they develop Ganon's character as they did in Wind Waker.... The monologue he had before the final battle really helped flesh the character behind the classic "I'm a bad guy and I want power".

And, crucially, I hope they do it in the first hour, not the last. Though we've already seen the last hour: I just hope it comes somewhere early / mid way through the plot.
Judging from the gameplay style and the fact you can go directly from the first cave to the last castle... I doubt we will see much villain developing.
Outside of word of mouth and lore. Kinda like in the first game.

This all sucks.
Anyway, if they really are going for this barebones approach then I doubt we'll see Ganondorf at all, save for some rando Demise final boss form.
If the narrative is that short, then I wonder how Zelda's involvement will even work. Presumably we'd be seeing much less of her than even in Twilight Princess.
Look, I just want to see Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf team up against some big bad with the Triforce. Because can you IMAGINE that gif?!?
I doubt we'll be able to go directly from the cave to the final boss, tbh. My guess is that there'll probably be some tasks or objectives that we have to do before fighting the final boss. We've already seen some of this since we need to complete this game's "tutorial" before being able to even leave Great Plateau.
Well, Bill Trinen did say in his interview with the IGN nerds that you couldn't leave the Great Plateau without the Paraglider, which requires the four sphere things. Which already goes against their statement of being able to go directly from the cave to the final boss. It's possible people may be taking their statement too literal.
Aonuma elaborated that there was more to the delays than just having trouble with the physics engine. Development itself wasn't going smoothly at times.
“We have these milestones during development. I play the game, then give staff my comments, my advice on what direction they should be heading in. At one of the milestones, the game was fantastic. There were so many great elements. But at the next milestone, that was all gone.
I’d made a lot of comments about what they needed to add, but I never told them what I thought was good about the game at that milestone. So they added stuff that I’d recommended, but they also added some other elements they thought would work well – and that ended up breaking all the good parts of the previous build. I learned that, when it’s good, I have to say so. If I’d managed that well, maybe development wouldn’t have extended quite so much.”
Nintendo seems conflicted about whether to have Aonuma make a new IP or keep making Zelda games. For his part, Aonuma wants to make a game about living as a thief.
“Actually, Nintendo has been telling me to create a new IP. But then, they’re also telling me to make more Zelda games. I can’t really share much; I’m not sure I’m allowed to say anything. But I really like the idea of a game where I can live as a thief. That’s all I’ll say.”
Perhaps Aonuma's new IP could be some sort of sci fi game.
Rather than moving The Legend of Zelda's genre from medieval fantasy to futuristic sci fi over time, they can create a different series all together with similar gameplay. That way each series could retain their respective identity.
Similar to how when From Software made a game that was victorian inspired rather than medieval inspired, they made a different series (Bloodbourne) separate from Dark Souls to retain each series respective identity.

A demon thief?
Lol, just kidding, but that sounds really cool. I'd love a game just constrained to one city where you burgle different apartments and experience the setting's daily life.
You could also steal from that shop in the woods in Twilight Princess. The bird would punish you for it later, though that's nothing compared to what happens in Link's Awakening. XD
And let's not forget the fact that Link has the habit of barging into private residences, smashing property, attacking innocent animals, blowing things up, causing a ruckus in bars by dropping chandeliers....
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet - The Indigo Disk, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
With nx being reconfirmed for march and this being a launch title I guess we are going to play this one before next e3. Which makes me very happy, of course.
@Octane true. I just think it's likely. Why have so many delays and not launch with a system so you could move units like crazy? Would seem like a waste.
I'd even delay the nx itself if zelda wasn't ready if I were them. But you're right, as with the nx, it has no confirmed date yet.
