I'd choose both because I would want people who liked both purple and dark blue bokoblins to be represented.

My best guess is that Hyrule Warriors take place hundreds of years after Skyward Sword but before Zelda U. (Unless they add Link from Zelda U, then Hyrule Warriors takes place after it.)

I'm kinda thinking it's somewhere before/after the founding/end of Hyrule, since this new Zelda doesn't seem to be adopting the Feudal aesthetic. Maybe it's the way Link is dressed, with the T-shirt and cloak; I just can't imagine that character riding through castle town. So, either really early or really late in the time-line.

They honestly look nothing alike, other than both having blue eyes (which really isn't saying much).
am i really the only one that sees the two same single bang type things on either side of both their heads??? linkle has hers in a braid, and link has his not in a braid, but they both have a single lock of hair on both sides of their head same length, same style. and they cant make them look completely the same, but there are similarities. linkle isnt a separate person, shes an alternate link. same name, same hair, same game, same person but alternate. linkle = bizarro link

just because they fall down the side of his face doesnt mean theyre sideburns, sideburns have to be physically connected to the cheek, otherwise its just a lock of hair from his head flowing down to his shoulders. i know i have long hair and no sideburns lol, look at the wii U photo again, youll see its not connected to his face at all.
