Oh and I used the excellent by-region NL guide to find the 4 remaining shrines I was missing. 2 were shrine quests located in places I really would have had no reason to explore otherwise, it looked empty particularly with the pop-in/draw distance not showing architectural features that should have given it away, one was a puzzle shrine entrance that I'd stood at multiple times before and nothing really made clear it was actually a puzzle I was supposed to interact with, and one was a normal shrine located at the edge of the earth where the sensor never told me there was anything there and I had no reason to get close enough to see. Thank goodness for that guide! Shame, those were some of the best quests and biggest shrine dungeons in the game. Not much of a critique though, there were only 4 I couldn't find on my own out of 120 (well 5, actually, the castle one was unobvious as well, and I stood there twice and had no idea there was a thing there until someone mentioned it.
@DarthNocturnal Ohh! Seriously? That would be awesome! Kind of makes Robbie's weapons a little silly though doesn't it? Beats having to go on Guardian Stalker purging expeditions to stock up on random core chances to buy them though!
@GoronBrudda The arrows vaporize them? Glad I didn't try that yet!
I got distracted by Kart. I still have about 5 shrines to find and 6 "Major Test" ones I'm saving so I can harvest the Guardian Weapon ++ one at a time from them to go lynel hunting with ancient armor. Maybe Ganon too (haven't done him yet.) I missed the one in the castle last time through. I have one riddle one to do...so I think 4-5 I haven't located yet.
Yep, have taken a bit of a detour with mariokart myself (loving it, especially playing as big boo on one of the bikes), but aside from that, as it's so similar to the WiiU version the novelty will wear off very quickly, so will be back to zelda again in no time.
Which riddle was it you're waiting to solve? (wouldn't happen to be the same korok riddle that I'm waiting for also that requires the Lynel Hoof was it?
I don't know if this was mentioned before, but you can now see on the map if you took whatever is in a chest within a shrine. So if you did, you'll see a chest icon next to the name of the shrine you selected.
I finally can erase all those icons on my map... or I just never noticed this in the first place, if so, ignore what I just said.
Thanks for pointing that out. Didn't know about that feature either, so if it has been there all this time, then I must just not have noticed. But definitely very useful to know it exists, so thanks for the heads up!
Just battled the calamity for the 1st time since getting all shrines, completing all side quests and maxing out Guardian and Barbarian armour! Man I want to keep THAT endgame bow!! Please!!!
@GoronBrudda I never bought the DLC for Kart on WiiU and had really stopped playing by the time the 200cc patch came out, so for me it's 50% an all new game I got bored of it fast on WiiU but so far am addicted on Switch. Probably due to more content to keep it fresh.
The riddle was actually the "the tower casts a shadow, and arrow pierces heaven's light" riddle. I can't believe it took me that long to solve it It was so simple it didn't make sense to me
Well, my BOTW game has bugged at 150 hours. 41/42 shrine quests complete and I spend two weeks trying tiofind the last one. I finally cave and check an online list to see which one I haven't done.
Turns out its The Spring of Wisdom. Which I did a while ago. Gone in, got the chest, got the orb it's blue on the map and everything but it isn't showing up in my list of shrine quests. Bummer.
@Bigtime Not sure if it will still activate the quest, but try talking to the Hylia statue there. It may activate/complete the quest for your anyway. I can't remember which one Wisdom is, but you might need to find where (can't remember his name) the Rito with the accordion hands out the quest if it's the one in Faron.

Yeah,. I think that's why it's a bit samey for me, as I had all the WiiU DLC. (and part of the fun was actually unlocking the characters and courses more so than the vehicles, I felt). But don't get me wrong, I do really like the new Switch version, so I'm certainly not knocking it. I do also really like the fact that broth me and my daughter can play on the GamePad as the controller on each of our switch consoles in local wireless multiplayer mode, so this time we each have our own screen, which we couldn't do on the WiiU version. Alot of the new courses in multiplayer mode on the new Switch version are quite cool aswell (just it's a pity those extra tracks aren't available in regular mode though).

Yeah, that one's definitely one of those that's so head-smackingly simple once you discover what it is, but isn't anywhere near as self explanatory beforehand as it seems it would have been afterwards. (so if it's any consolation, even I had to look that one up, and I'm willing to bet we weren't the only ones who got stumped by that one at first!). The other shrine quest that I found tricky was the one where you have to hold the ball of ice up so that the shadow falls precisely on the circle of the sunken orb shrine thing that is stuck in the side of the mountain. (if you know which one I mean). Knowing what to do wasn't so bad, but knowing what time of day it had to be done at was what made that one such a tricky thing to get right, so I must admit, I had to look that one up aswell.
All shrines are completed now tough, so is just a case of collecting the final hyrule compendium pieces and armor set upgrades, etc. Speaking of the Hyrule Compendium, I actually tried to buy all the missing photos, but there were still a few after buying all the ones he would sell that he said I still have to find, so there must be a trick to unlocking those. (I'm guesing that I just have to capture them on camera, or have come across them in the game somehow) but not sure what that will mean in conjunction with the divine beast shadow gannon mini bosses that I missed, as obviously I'm locked out of divine beasts now that I've completed them, so will have to wait and see. I'm hoping that so long as I get some of the smaller still manually obtainable compendium pics that it will unlock the ones that are unobtainable after that point.
If not, I'll just have to be more careful when I play it all again on the Switch version. Will be very upset though if they're completely unobtainable now though on the one I've nearly 100%ed though,as those few missing things are gonna really bug me! (I'm OCD like that)
@GoronBrudda Wait, there's new tracks in MK8D? I didn't think there were any new ones other than the battle mode stages?
Oh the ice shadow one....I actually got that on my own relatively fast, though it took two tries of waiting for like a 4 in-game hour period I never thought of holding the ice balls....I just used the ice rune on the little puddle there If I'd used the ball though, I could have moved it and not had to wait for a second time window! I think your idea was better.
I still have my 6 Major Tests remaining to do. I think I finished my lynel hunting for now, I went around and got every lynel I know where it is all in one go, nearly all silver ones. I have a complete inventory full of Savage Lynel gear now I'm getting dragon parts to finish up my barb armor, and I think the only armors after that I don't have at Lv4 is ONE piece of the zora armor (still missing some green liz tails), the luminous armor and hylian armor (both need lynel parts and it just doesn't seem worth farming lynels for those two relatively useless armor sets), and the jewelry that needs star parts. And I don't have any amiibo armor to upgrade. I'll I'll have to consider if I upgrade the time armor when I get it or not though. More star parts? Ugh, probably not.
No way I'm doing the compendium....I've never been a "gotta' collect 'em all" player I have probably like 20 pictures total in that thing. Maybe more...I took pictures of anything I wanted to track on the sensor, so specific monsters or resources. Not much more than that. I'm OCD enough with gaming, but the "find 100% of all the things" quests I learned not to bother with. Inevitably I'd get 90% done it, after tedious unfun work, and end up never finding the ones I"m missing and never even get the (trivial) reward for it )
Phew, after nearly 1 hr 47 minutes i finally managed to get the ball in the hole lol ! Now need to find 1 more memory & 1 more shrine & quite a lot of korok seeds before i attempt to go into the castle which looks rather scary lol

Is that the one where you create ice for it to bounce off?
@ncfcrulz no you had to hit the ball into a hole without hitting nearby pillars, bizarrely i managed to do the one where you had to create the ice to bounce the ball off in a few attempts. I'm not sure why it took me forever to crack it but i'm very glad it's done lol
@Jen10 If you have most of the shrines done you should have plenty of hearts, so it shouldn't be bad (I haven't done Ganon yet but I've toured the castle a bit.) Just be sure you have some nicely upgraded armor on. Ancient Armor is helpful so you can just shrug off guardian hits, but certainly not a must!
@GoronBrudda Wait, there's new tracks in MK8D? I didn't think there were any new ones other than the battle mode stages?
Yeah, there's new tracks. (They're only on the online modes though. The tracks on the regular main offline mode though are all identical to the ones on the WiiU version except for slightly improved graphics). Still alot of fun though!

Cool! I had no idea you could use the rune item to do that! I guess whatever makes the shadow must not matter so long as it's ball shaped. Great tip!

My god yes, star parts are tedious as hell. Fortunately there is another easier way to get them than just waiting for them to fall naturally (there are about 8 hidden in chests, which makes getting them alot easier). I hope those chests respawn, as it means we could just get those easy ones again instead of having to go about it the long tedious way. (I've not tested out yet whether they respawn or not though, so at this point I'm just hoping). keep feeding raw meat to the dogs you meet at places like the stables and in varous other places, and they will often lead you to some of those hidden chests. That's what the "make friends with a dog" tip that sometimes appears on the loading screen was all about btw. I only just figured that one out recently, so thought it was worth passing on. There are other ways to get them too, I'll try and find the youtube video on star fragment locations that showed me this if you want to know all the other chest locations for these.

I hear ya. Some things in games can definitely be just so tedious that they stop being fun. With Zelda games though, something always comes over me that just niggles at me if I haven't got every last bit. (I'm a right sucker for it). I did skip one heart piece in skyward sword though, and I did skip all the train parts in spirit tracks. But other than that I've pretty much never leave a zelda game until I've got all of it (with the exception of Zelda II, which I've actually never fully completed, but do intend to go back and do one day)
Me either! I've been really dragging it out to prolong the enjoyment for as long as possible! ..after 110+ hours, I've done 2 Divine Beasts - 78 Shrines - and found 178 Korok Seed's (how in Hylia's name have I missed 722 of them?!) ..still thoroughly enjoying it! I'm finding that the side-quests are a great way to push back the end-game (Princess Zelda seems pretty solid at Hyrule Castle...no need to rush!) ..the Tarrey Town side-quest, in particular, gets you venturing far and wide - a great excuse to breathe in all that wild! ..plenty of hours left in this game I'm sure!
@NEStalgia@GoronBrudda No way I'm 100% this game. Im just going to do all shrines, and maybe pictures. I need 20 more shrines and it started to get tedious running around with not much to do. I going to use a guide for the final 20, cuz I couldn't find anything. No way for sure I'm doing all the korok seeds, just enough to upgrade my inventory to max. This game along with windwaker, and twilight princes are the only Zelda games I will not 100%.
Ha Ha Ha, Zelda 2 is the only Zelda I never beat. I 100% it but I couldn't beat shadow link, this was before I knew the trick. I don't have my old GBA cartridge anymore, so my save is long gone. I have it on VC but its a difficult game that I'm just not in the mood to replay.
I deleted my last post because it might contain spoilers, I don't know how to do that black cover up thing.
@NEStalgis thanks for the tip about the Ancient Armour, I wasn't sure whether I needed it but I've now got it & will upgrade it as much as possible. I've got full stamina & 27 hearts & I'm now trying to get some more korok seeds to max my weapons inventory & collecting as many durian fruits as I can carry before I tackle the castle. I've got all 4 Divine Beasts but I'm not sure how I utilise the power of Vah Naboris or what it does lol. Do i need to wear the Thunder Helm ?? Thanks ☺

Ya I have plenty of Side Quests to finish Tarrey Town? is that that one you have to recruit all the people with wood piles or whatever that one sounds like it might take some time....
That guy that wanted 55 rushrooms was a long one too, cleaned me right out, lol

Yeah, that's the one! You have to help build a new settlement called 'Tarrey Town' by recruiting specific NPC's from around Hyrule (as well as gathering wood piles!) ..I've had a lot of fun with it - the main 'builder' guy gives you a clue about the type of person they're looking for and roughly where you might find them - then you have to go and track them down! ..I've been on several l-o-n-g treks already searching for new citizens - and found plenty of cool little things along the way
I've really enjoyed a lot of the Shrine Quests - especially the ones that leave you feeling all clever after you've figured them out! ..thought I'd make a bit more of an effort with the Side Quests too - and I've found a fair few that have been deeper than they appeared on the surface - they're worth checking out if you're looking to extend the game a bit
I was thinking about trying to complete the Hyrule Compendium too - but I forgot to get a pic of Thunderblight Ganon before I defeated him ..so I think I've kinda screwed it up! Oh well..
