I remember that's the only shrine where I had to really really fight with the game to get across.
A favorite shrine of mine was an electrical one where you need to connect the circuits. Wasn't sure how to do it so I used my own weapons and realized that's not how you're supposed to do it
@BLP_Software Ha, I thought so too, but I just can't seem to do it. I've fallen into the abyss too many times... Think I might move on and save this shrine for later. Thanks.
The first swing is also set up so you don't need to do anything at all- just jump quick.
@Meowpheel Is it? Damn, if so then I'm really making this difficult for myself.
@Operative2-0 Yes, it's the most frustrating part of the game so far. Regarding the circuit shrine, I did the same thing (using my weapons), but also noticed I could use the treasure chests to connect the circuits. It's crafty because some chests can be moved while others are permanently glued to the floor, so it's not always obvious which ones can be manipulated in any given situation. I actually like that lack of consistency - it's unusual in games.
(Sorry for double post; I wasn't sure if you guys would see my replies with an edit.)
So I only have one divine beast (on a shrine run at the moment) and I decided to go to Hyrule Castle to guardian farm and to see how far I could get. Made it to the top, realized how the fights would go and tried to "nope, nope, nope" outta there only to get murdered by the Thunderblight Ganon (well I know which beast I'm saving for last now...). At least I got to the memory location. (I love when narratives point how UNFAIR being a destined savior can be. I was surprised that they were willing to do it for Link as well though.) Not seeing the supposed Link/Zelda subtext in this game (thank goodness) although I did see some subtext for some other people. Have I mentioned today how much I love this game? I love this game. Also I think the title theme (at least the live version) may now be my favorite Zelda theme. Unlocked the whole map and all of the Great Fairies finally.

@Monkey_Balls Hrmm... I don't remember struggling with that one too much. I think it was just a case of pulling back the platform with the D-Pad (using magnesis), releasing it, locking it with statis in the next backswing, jumping on, unlocking statis, and jumping off at the other side.
@Tsurii@Maxz I've tried Stasis. I've tried Magnesis. I've tried to not throw my controller across the room. None of it has worked so far. It's probably me just being stupid. I've walked away from said shrine - I'll take out my frustration on a few Lynels then return later when I've calmed down a bit.
Also, I've just discovered I'm terrible at identifying chests... 130 hours later. Seriously, who looks at those things in detail? They're just chests! And if they're so different why doesn't the Compendium acknowledge it? Grumble, mutter. Grr, where are those Lynels at...
@Ryu_Niiyama Oh don't tell me I'm going to have to fight that [redacted] thunderblight AGAIN?! That was just annoying the first time, though the first 26 times I tried him I did so with only 5 hearts and NEARLY beat him each time. He seemed to scale and just wait for me to kill him after I bought another 8 hearts with my hoarded orbs. But I dont' want to have to do that thing AGAIN!
I've got the whole map and about half the shrines. Far too few koroks, same 2 divine beasts as last week (though I made my way to the entrance of a third). Working on gearing/upgrading armors now. Mining. Which is oddly fun. Have you found Kilton? There's a little fun to be had with that Though I discovered unfortunately the perks from dealing with that don't apply everywhere I'd like them to which was disappointing. But worth trying to find him (talk to stables travlers if you don't have the quest yet...it's somewhere.)
I FINALLY slayed a Guardian Stalker. Two in fact. Though I kept reloading saves because 2/5 attempts at deflecting I'd miss. But the parts don't sell for nearly the money minerals/gems do, it's just basic parts...cooking might yield more, so I'm not sure that's the best way to farm cash, or am I missing something?
@NEStalgia Well it was my first time with Thunderblight so yay me I guess? (crap...) I prefer selling Guardian parts because I just hunt for them and they drop so many pieces (it is worse when you get the Master Sword and then you can just torture the darn things) and because ore/jewels are used in crafting. The shrine in the Forgotten Temple was a material spree for guardian parts! However like I said I just wander around mining so even that isn't a big deal. I found the snow bowling so that is my rupee source at this point. Now I'm hording everything for armor upgrades. I need more star fragments...sigh.
Oh my shrine count is pitiful as are my korok seeds. I'm looking for them but I only started to do a region by region concentrated search this weekend. So it will likely be a few weeks (I can't play at home during the week, training and studying to do) before I get back to the main quests...I'm enjoying hunting the memories too much anyway. I have 4 left, and two of the Divine Beast memories. I'm also spending too much time hunting Dragon parts since I need them for quests and crafting.

@Ryu_Niiyama I have the sword and haven't thought to take it against them! I just keep going after moblins and the like until it depletes its energy. Which is absurdly fast. But it spares me from running through my good weapons like water. I have one sad little star fragment. I haven't needed much in the way of jewels for upgrades so far...that might change, but it's mostly rare monster parts so far.
Some of those shrines are crazy hidden. I was perplexed by one for a while yesterday until I finally figurred out how to get it. Another one I kind of brute forced it in a crazy way and then later discovered the much easier way I could have done it... I think the only 2 memories I have left are the castle ones. Not going anywhere NEAR that place for a few weeks still. Hyrule Field is simply off limits to me ! I have a general rule, I don't enter decaying buildings covered in swirling hot pink mist. Just a little quirk of mine
Oh geeze, dragon hunting. I haven't even figured out HOW to dragon hunt yet! I've seen those guys and nope'd away. The electric one fries me any time I'm even near him (there's an app, err, item for that, but I don't have it yet.) Thing's huge...I can't wrap my brain around how to take it on. Still haven't approached a lynel yet. Did a red hinox as part of a quest.....I still stealth tiptoe around the blue ones. I avoid anything bigger than me Those dragons absolutely qualify...
@Meowpheel, that's right. I started watching speedruns now that I've beat the game, and I was surprised to find them fighting all four blights before Ganon shows up. I guess you fight them unless you've already beat them. As it turns out, the whole end of the game is way longer the sooner you to beat it.
Is anyone else having as hard of a time at the Apparatus shrines as I am? Is it just a Switch thing or Wii U owners as well? I'm usually pretty good with motion controls, but come to think of it, I've never played a game on the Wii or Wii U where you were expected to turn the controller in every 6 axis direction for the gyroscope. Skyward sword was different; the boss keys in the game had a click-and-drag system so that you didn't have to turn the wii-remote all the way around.
I can't tell if it's the controller/game, or if I'm just really bad at keeping track of which direction is which on an aspherical device.
Dragon farming wasn't as bad as I imagined it would be. There's easy spots to camp where they'll show up in glider range almost immediately. Mix that with the natural up draft that they create that raises you to their level and refills your stamina and it was pretty simple getting the materials needed to upgrade my final gear
@Meowpheel ...Aww...well that sucks. So if I hadn't gotten curb-stomped by Thunderblight (because I'd beaten the other two from beasts I have not entered yet) it would have counted as a clearing the divine beasts?
@Nicolaison The apparatus shrines are my favorite type actually. I like to play them with the pro controller or via table top mode because I can flip them totally upside down if needed.

@NEStalgia The Sword loses power fast because it is not "activated", and it loses power faster than normal. If you look it glows when you're near "you know what". About dragons @Operative2-0 is right. They're pretty easy to farm. I already know good and easy spots to farm electric and ice ones, now i need just to discover the place to farm the fire one
@Meowpheel Ahhhh, got it. That makes me feel better
@Ryu_Niiyama I'm guessing it just removes the boss battle at the end of the divine beast when you do it but doesn't count as solving the divine beast itself.
And I loved that apparatus shrine where I spent 40 minutes trying to roll the ball and then realised while I was on full rage-tilt that if I flip it over it goes right where I want it to
@FGPackers Hmm, I haven't read Operative's post since I (will probably regret) wanting to figure it out. But I haven't seen the ice one yet, but I happen to know a good place to farm fire: The canyon behind the stable on the border between hyrule field and the rito zones, where the goron plays the golf game. The fire dragon travels right through the canyon and I imagine he's easy pickings there if you know how to fight him at all that is
The sword, yeah, I know it's activation mode and all....but I'm seldom fighting anything that activates it for now. So I still have to use it as a basic club!
@Ryu_Niiyama@NEStalgia not really, while the game knows you've beaten the game... When you load your file after the credits, it's as if you had never even entered the room.
