Is there anyway to repeat the eventide shrine quest? It was really fun and my friend and I wanted to attempt the two player challenge (1 Joy-con per person) but we didn't know how repeat the quest. We did instead attempt to storm through some of Hyrule Castle. We actually did surprisingly well despite all the lasers! XD

Did a little bit of Hebra, the left side. Did a couple of Shrines, really nice and fun. But most of all i finally found the last core so i was able to create the last piece of Ancient Armour Set. All upgraded to 2 stars so i have bonus when using ancient weapons. The set also looks AWESOME!!

lol, you're not around for half a day and all hell breaks loose. The heck happened to you guys to be so bloody touchy over a videogame?

Actually, I think I know what happened but any more out of my mouth and the next person is gonna start whining how mean I am and how I'm wrong to call someone out on their nonsense

I feel like a lot of it started when I announced that I beat the game and started complaining about the ending. Could be wrong, tho.

I'm considering giving myself some limiters for a second playthrough, to make it tougher (kinda like the 3 heart challenge). My idea right now is to ban stamina containers, divine powers, and meals. Hopefully I don't run into any major barriers, though. I'm on the fence about whether I ban heart containers, too, and make it a true 3 heart challenge. If I did, it would make shrines pointless.

Got married.

Well I just got the Master Sword. ...So now guardian hunting is just cruel. Now I hack their legs off and then parry them to death...I'd feel bad but they keep dropping cores in response! It is like they are trying to atone for being corrupted by Ganon! Also, Fi got wrecked 100 years ago, I feel like her elvish "evil is nearby" glow is her spoiling for payback.

At this point of reading what you wrote, I totally thought you were about to say "The boy told you that he's not really a ...boy!!" lol.

(...It's totally not your fault, it's just a random thought that popped into my head!) So a thousand apologies for my warped sense of humour, but I'm not gonna lie, I couldn't help but burst out laughing until I realized my mistake, and just had to get it out there lest the moment passes!

That'll teach me to play so many japanese games, as I think it's rubbing off on me!

No damage done again.

Food for thought. What if they are scrolling up from the bottom of the thread though rather than going down? So they will see spoiler after the at the end rather than the beginning.

See, I didn't mind the sidequests so much. Sure, they are pretty bland but they have great rewards. I'm not talking about the actual "heres a hundred rupees" rewards, I mean the discovery they promote. Without the leviathan bones I wouldnt have thought to explore the backside of death mountain or the edges of the desert. And without Pikango's little "follow me" quest in Kakariko I wouldn't have found the memory location he referenced, nor would I have realized how valuable he is for information. Even though the sidequests are not usually very enriching on their own, they almost always lead to something fun or useful to discover.

I feel the last few pages haven't been overly morose. There's a difficult gap between people being able to fully and honest express their feelings about the game, and then people using the forum as a platform to one-sidedly lay into the game as if it were Calamity Ganon himself (because that's the position that makes you look coolest on the internet).

Perhaps the fact we have people complaining both that there's a "positive feedback only" rule, and that "all hell has broken loose" in terms of negativity means we're somewhere in the middle? Maybe.

Personally, any complaints I have are made on the understanding that this is one of the finest and most repeatedly jaw dropping, heart stopping, brain bending, butt clenchingly awesome video games I have ever played, and one of the few that has exceeded the hype I'd built for it over the years. I can't believe it's here, and it is what it is.

I really enjoyed my Wii U, but couldn't help feeling that there were certain new experiences missing, in favour of slightly more linear affairs. Overly the last few years, we've had several new 2D platforming installations of Mario, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Chibi-Robo, Yoshi, and probably a few others too. I like 2D platformers as much as the next gamer, but then too tend to be a touch more linear due to their missing dimension. Even in the 3D space, the last two Mario games have (very skilfully) taken the 2D games as their structural inspiration. They've been 'goal pole' or 'course clear' style games, as opposed to 'miniature garden' style adventures. I don't feel one is inherently better than the other, but there hasn't been a whole lot of choice. XCX arguably did big and epic, but in such a JRPG manner as to be more offputting than some of Nintendo's longer time franchises.

Zelda is almost unbelievably different. It doesn't hold your hand; it kills you. Or rather, it let's you kill yourself, and then simply asks you to try again, but smarter. It doesn't tell you where to go, or how long to take, or a whole lot other than some brief suggestions. And from my experience, it works, brilliantly, which I think is incredible. So I think Zelda is a triumph, and I feel hugely grateful to be able to play it.

However, we're at a point now where many people are coming to the end of some major part of it, and have built up quite a lot of thoughts over possibly hundreds of hours. Unfortunately, the mind only remember joy for an instant, while unfulfilled wishes and disappointments linger much longer. It's natural in any game's cycle - especially longer ones - that these rise to become prominent issues of discussion, which can cast a 'bluer' feeling over the entire thread.

It's as important to get these thoughts out as any other, though I feel necessary to make them in a way that is receptive to other member's thoughts, rather than being too self-indulgently grumpy or proclamative.

I feel we've had a few relatively level-headed discussions that have been initiated by a complaint (such as about side-quests), and there are still reports from players merrily working their way through new discoveries, so I don't feel it's currently too blue.

Speaking of which, I finally got around to beating Eventide Island, after spending about 45 minutes on it the first time, and then getting OHKOd by a Moblin who I'd missed an air attack on. It was certainly a lot easier with 24 hearts than 6, and I was quite surprised how far I'd got beforehand, as I was a lot more gung-ho this time, and all sorts of attacks were stripping 6 hearts off me like it was nothing.

What a fantastic idea though, from both a narrative and gameplay point of view. The developers must have felt that the initial 'survival' aspect gets somewhat diminished after getting off the Great Plateau and building up some weapons and armour, so wanted to recreate that at a later point. And what's more 'survival' than being stranded on a desert island in your underpants? An absolute gem of a quest. Even if it destroyed me the first time around.

6 more shrines to go!

@Maxz I think the "blue" feeling partly comes from the fact that the negatives in the game are much easier to list than the positives because there are nowhere near as many of them, so people focus on them more than all the things they like about the game. That's the case for me, anyway.

I was pretty disappointed by the side quests as well, and because the rest of the game was so great, the lack of compelling minor characters and quests really stood out to me, so I might have complained about them a little more than necessary.

@Jhena could you please not post multiple messages one after the other?

I mean, it's not like you have been posting cascades of messages and flooding the thread, but it seems to be quite common for you to make post in groups of two.

You are free to mention more than one person in a single post, and you can always edit more content into it after posting it.

@KirbyTheVampire Yeah i kinda see it like you.

Its just that many of the good things were always good in a Zelda game. But some of the new things just pale in comparison.

Well anyway i said all the things i disliked about this game and i think its time to move on to the positives.
Like how the artdesign looks clearly ghibli but still feels a 100% Zelda. I think thats impressive.
