@Joeynator3000 fire zols, crabs, and sea urchins are very useful. Peahats are great for grass cutting or dense formations of enemies.

Remember you can also move echoes and enemies manually, it helps a lot.

...I swear, some of these enemy echoes are completely useless in battle. Like, the only ones that have been actually helping me so far is Darknut and the scorpion. (Peahat was okay at first until it just started constantly flying UNDER flying enemies and never hitting them, ugh) Seriously feel like I'm just better off going into Sword mode and killing them myself sometimes.

That's interesting since I've basically never used Scorpion. I use sea urchins a lot and various birds and fire zol and and armadillo the most. and boarblin.

There is something which is basically a thwomp which you can drop on people's head. So similar effect to an anvil.

Personally I'm not super sensitive to frame rate but I noticed it just a little in Link's Awakening and not at all so far in Echoes. The fact that the action is relatively slow-paced and the art is generally just insanely beautiful probably helps fps be less noticable for me at least. And I'm playing docked in internal storage which may help a bit.

It's definitely worse, at least from what I can tell. I've gotta be honest, I don't remember it bothering me at all in Link's Awakening HD. It has bothered me here a bit. Not anywhere near enough for me to not enjoy the game but enough that it pulls me out of it a bit. Which I never felt in Link's Awakening HD

Haven't watched DF's analysis of it but from memory the issues in Link's Awakening were entirely CPU/Memory limitations and were to do with the game loading new sections. So it makes a lot of sense that it would be more obvious here given the significantly more open game. And if it is a CPU/Memory limitation then.... it should be more-or-less the same docked vs undocked as when you dock/undock the Switch it's the GPU that underclocks not the CPU

The only time the Switch's CPU clock changes is when you are loading a game and it (temporarily) boosts the CPU clock (and underclocks the GPU). And that's docked or undocked. And isn't at all useful here. What is possibly useful is that the Switch 2 will almost surely smoke the Switch's boost clock with one hand tied behind its back. So we can look forward to this game being a rock solid 60fps through Switch 2's BC mode

not that I'm going to wait for that, I'm enjoying it here!

Did anyone else struggle their first time starting up the game? I don't know what my mental block was exactly but that first few attempts to use echoes to get up on a high ledge i couldn't quite grasp what i needed to stack or put in place to reach certain cliffs or ledges. I guess having never seen a zelda game quite like this before was really throwing me off. At one point i even totally got stuck because i didn't notice a wall was climbable. I felt like slapping myself upside the head LOL!

I think after an hour it started to click but yeah i was ready to say well this is too frustrating I'm about to quit.

It's a bit more puzzle heavy than your average zelda. Maybe I'm just losing my gamers edge.

What's with Echoes of Wisdom on amazon in US?
Only third party sellers are selling the game, and their shipping times range from 5-7+ days. Is this just a case of Amazon's stock selling out?

I only buy a game from amazon as a last resort because, I prefer to give my money to retailers that have physical stores, Target, Best Buy.

@WoomyNNYes Amazon has lately not been stocking Nintendo first party games, going back to Super Mario RPG, I believe, and maybe before. I haven't seen any reporting on why this is, but I suspect it's two things: one, Nintendo is shipping less physical product to all retailers to try and prioritize digital sales, and two, Amazon wants to negotiate for a bigger cut of sales/more inventory at a reduced price and Nintendo isn't willing to budge.

@Truegamer79 omg same at the start! it took me the embarrassing time of an hour to solve how to get from the prison cell to impa. I DIDNT REALIZE I COULD JUST CLIMB YHE LADDERS! however as i’ve progressed things click in your mind much easier, especially by the time you get bind

on another note, i am very very addicted to mango rush somehow.

I just reached the actual dungeon in Jabul Waters and it’s been a blast. I really love how we got proper dungeons back, but also tools from modern Zelda games to solve puzzles. And yet you can’t break the game, and that is also brilliant. There have been several instances, particularly in this dungeon (I haven’t finished it; I got halfway through before I had to leave for work) where I solved a puzzle room in ways that probably weren’t meant to be done that way. I’m sure I’ll look back on it and be like, “Omg, how could I be so stupid? This is how I could have done it much simpler.” But the game allows you to solve puzzles in unique ways and gives you all the tools you need right out of the gate in order to do so, so in turn, you feel smart once you figure things out. I’m really loving this game.

FishyS

@Kraven There have been so many puzzles where I was clearly supposed to use the Bind button which I always forget about but instead used some random combination of echoes and platforming which barely worked.

@Truegamer79 You are not alone, my friend! I had the same issue too. I couldn’t figure it out at first, especially the climbable walls. I was making it harder than it needed to be when solving puzzles. I was overthinking things. Now, I finally got a good grasp on how things work, and I’m solving things in unique ways.

Kraven

Kraven

@FishyS I keep forgetting about the bind too! I’ve been using echoes mainly, but in my way to work today I realized I could have used bind on a certain monster to get a heart container. I was slapping myself over the head because I was trying to think how to get it last night but couldn’t figure it out so I left the area. Once I get back home and finish the current dungeon I’m in, I’ll be getting that heart container. Lol.

@Kraven
Yeah I'll get the hang of it. Just got to what i think might be the first dungeon so I'll see how that goes.

Anyone else playing on Hero difficulty? Its actually a nice level of challenge, I've found I need to concentrate much more - which is helping my enjoyment in general.

I’m glad they put that one room in the first dungeon where you MUST use bind to remove the shield….

Because I had honestly completely forgotten about it and that made me realize “oh yes that’s a mechanic they want me to use”.
