Never played Skyrim before, just saw some video's on Youtube. The exploration and the graphics makes me curious about the game. When I heard that many players played a lot of hours in the game, I will pick it up tomorrow or next week.
But, still not finished SMO, not 100% BOTW and yet in year 1 of Stardew Valley. I need more time in my life!

Haha! Yeah, me too! I'm beginning to feel like I wouldn't mind if the whole gaming industry took a year off in 2018 - at least it'd give me 12 months to catch up on all these games I'm missing!
It looks really good. In some comparisons shots the light actually looks better on the Switch! The detail on the trees in the mid-distance look sharper on the Xbox but it’s a small price to pay for portability!
Switch: Dragon Quest Builders 2, Fire Emblem Three Houses, Valkyria Chronicles, Shin Megami Tensei
PC: Farming Simulator 22
Wow they have done a great job with the Switch version. Even as someone who played it at 60fps and loads of graphics mods, it still looks and plays great, the Switch keeps impressing me more and more. I haven’t tried the motion controls yet, as I’m using the pro controller, I have a banging headache so I don’t really feel like sitting up and trying them. For anyone who somehow hasn’t played this game, you are in for a massive treat.
It wouldn't hurt to look at this and a perk calculator to do some character building before you play. You can find ways to change everything except your race, sex, and name (which appears on your save files on Xbox and PS). Also keep in mind while you're building a character that almost everything in the game has 25-50% resistance to frost magic.
@mikecrci I am really curious about it. I couldn't resist to order it so I did it a few seconds ago and it will be delivered tomorrow!
I only watched a handful of vids so I think I will be overwhelmed! Curious about the sale numbers.
When I first played this game several years ago on my PS3, I just thought it was going to be a generic RPG set in a cold ice world with not much else to see except snow-covered mountains and several dungeons here and there.
Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would spend nearly 300 hours just wandering around and exploring...without even touching the game's 2 main story lines (ie, the Skyrim Civil War and "dragon" quest).
A word of caution: the melee combat in this game sucks ass. Half the time, it feels like you're swinging and hitting empty air if you choose two-handed, dual-wield, or sword-and-shield weapon skills. Which sucks for me, because I typically never play magic-based or bow 'n' arrow characters in RPGs (thankfully, this game has a pretty badass crossbow that almost makes it feel like a first person shooter . )
But the sheer amount of content, character + skills customization, lore, story, atmosphere, in-game choices that affect the plot, and things to do and see more than make up for it, IMO.
And yeah, Argonians are probably one of the best races due to their Histskin perk. Also, I don't recall them having a weakness to frost. Where did you hear that?
The visual comparisons are pretty impressive. There are some scenes that look better on PS4/X1, and some scenes that look better on Switch. The ground brush looks better and denser on other platforms, and mid-range trees look better, but other versions shroud everything in a blur and mist (like Snake Pass) where things look more defined on Switch. The volumetric lighting looks great in cutscenes on other platforms, but the higher contrast lighting looks better for castles on Switch....I like that the Switch look isn't just "the same but with reduced settings" but is actually set up with different lighting as though it's "shot on different film" on Switch, giving it entirely different visual moods in the same scene. It camouflages anything "worse" by making it different with its own merit. Personally I prefer contrasty scenes in settings like this, and it mimics my own photography. I adapted to contrast even in color probably as a result of doing so much B&W prints. The volumetric lighting looks less photogenic and more flat to me.
