"And if toys aren't your thing, you don't actually need them to play--you can buy and play the full game digitally, swapping between ships and parts from the menu."
And who says I want to sell it...? Goodness, I don't even have any other room other than bedroom + bathroom right now. I don't understand why you are so adamant about some of these, really.
@Elvie Probably not gonna happen with Fox already in, but I'd love it. Really, anything with Star Fox could have F-Zero or Metroid crossover without any complaint from me.
I'm still holding out for this game to be worth the buy with just the starters pack. Everything I've seen so far suggests it is, and if I don't have to get any of the other toys I'll definitely be getting this.
@link3710 I know but it's fun to talk about impossible dreams just like this, ''Let's have the planets from Super Mario Galaxy in the game as a free update''.
@Elvie True true. And it's definitely not impossible at the least, though I'm sure a Metroid or F-Zero crossover would have to be a big launch next year if it were to happen.
@link3710 Yeah, definitely. At the moment, I wonder what impact this Star Fox crossover this would have the on game. I mean, if this game becomes a series, how much overlap of elements from both series would occur?
I've had a second thought about Starlink and I think I'm going to pass. I was all in...until the required download. Am I willing the spend nearly $300 for toys and a game that'll be unplayable in ten years? The answer is, "no".
After today's Direct aired, I think that money would be better spent on Luigi's Mansion 3, FFXII, Animal Crossing Switch, Yoshi's Crafted World, and Diablo III.

This feels like a crossover game, except half the crossover is actually a brand new IP.
Like it's exactly like that. You have two wildly different sets of characters from two different IP, one enters their part of the universe and they have to team with them in an fun little story filled with callbacks that will ultimately make no relevance to anything outside of this game (unless Starlink 2 also has Star Fox or something...). And hilariously, this will play more like Star Fox than Mario and Rabbids played like either Mario or Rabbids.
Anyone know if for this game if I download the e-shop version will I need to purchase any "vehicles" or will it have an in-game ship? Also, will the whole game be open even if I do not purchase any extra ships or accessories?

According to interviews, you'll be able to purchase a limited-time lease for each individual piece of gear (ships, pilots, weapons) being made into a toy. Pricing and lease duration are unknown.

Good news for you. There's a digital version for $60 with 90% of the pilots, ships and weapons available, or $80 with all the remaining content. Not perfect of course, but that's way better than I expected at least. It's almost like you can get a complete game at normal price digitally... then again, I'm sure the deluxe will be under 60 within 3 months.
For people who want the physical pack with actual weapon models, Arwing etc., there's a $60 digital version with all the other content. So the maximum you'd pay that way would be $135.
If you want all the toys at launch... well... that's going to be $247.
A truck repair and needing to get the dog’s year of heart worm prevention kinda knocked Starlink off my list for October. Hoping maybe a Black Friday sale will hit the starter pack.

So apparently this game has local-only drop-in anytime co-op? How the heck was this never advertised, that's like, a huge selling point. Having an actual AAA 3D adventure co-op game to play on the Switch is really enticing. Or did I just somehow miss this fact repeatedly over the year and a half since it was announced.
Got my copy downloaded and ready to go.
Pretty excited for it!
Hopefully they release the StarFox DLC on the eshop, not gonna bother with the physical toys.
