@Yasaal
It's not of the utmost priority, but my feeling was that I have a 2-3 week window to finish up some games/ get kinda far in Stardew Valley BEFORE Odyssey comes out. Because when Odyssey hits... yea, that's all I'm gonna be playing.

I’ve been playing it most of the day, it’s amazing how it draws you in. When you watch footage you can’t really see what’s so good about it, then you play it and it’s a whole different story.

Hey... don't plant a bunch of crops nearer to the end of a season than the time they take to grow. Just an idea.

Protect them.

Also, bear in mind that every 5th level up is a irreversibly profession path choice. The game very poorly conveys this information if you're just expecting another passive bonus or recipe, and farmer / rancher is a pretty big choice.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

Wow you lose a lot of money if you stay up past 2am, I lost about 700😯 I was in a mine and was so close to getting back home as well.

Is there any way to change appearance or gender?
I accidentally made my character male. Though I'm fine with playing a male character, I would prefer if he didn't have this hair style and clothing.

If you're just starting, you might as well just start over.

However, if that's not a viable option anymore, then you'll have to befriend the wizard. He can't change the gender, though.

I never thought this would be the game that makes me want a second Switch. Between me and the two kids, it's been in play very nearly all weekend. We haven't geeked out together over a game so much since the first days with BOTW.

I'm halfway through Summer Year One and just starting to upgrade my tools. Loving how things open up in this game once you start making some progress. The range of things you can do in Pelican Town is pretty amazing. The game looks and plays like Mineral Town, but with so many more possibilities.

@JasmineDragon
Yea - it brings back memories of Harvest Moon on the SNES. My friend would come over after school and just watch me play for hours until dinner. Kinda weird that watching someone tend a farm and pet cows can be so riveting.

That sounds like my brother and I when we got Harvest Moon 64.

Except for the part where he punched me to keep playing.

What happened to my weekend? I only had enough time to power wash the porch and re organize the wood till today. I don't even know what happened yesterday that didn't involve stardew...ugh. Adulting is hard.

Quick tip: if you want to be more accurate with your tools, consider clicking the tool hit location thing in the options menu. It's kind of annoying in that a red box pops up that shows where you'll be hitting, but I'll take that over tilling the wrong patch of soil by accident.

Ralizah

@KirbyTheVampire Yup. Enabled that right away. Also made it where I run with the D-Buttons, because I haven't really found a good use for slow movement in this game.

This has to be the best value for money on the Switch right now - £12/$15 for a game that I can easily see myself sinking 100hours+ in to - absolute bargain! I'm totally drawn in to it too - it seems like no sooner have I completed one project, I already have my next four or five projects lined up - and even when I put the console down, I find my mind drifting back to the Valley!

My longer-term goal is to have a primarily alcohol-producing mega-farm (with a few smaller ventures on the side) - but I'm pretty satisfied with the chicken coop, furnace and tilled fields (+36 slot backpack) that I've managed to construct so far...I've got a manageable daily routine which seems to be quite a nice little earner - with rainy days providing the ideal opportunity to go out in search of the resources required to expand and improve ..the balance of micro-managing the day-to-day, whilst also always planning ahead, is very satisfying - I'm absolutely loving it so far...long may it continue!

Admittedly I haven't upgraded my watering can at all yet, but watering seems to take an excessive amount of energy...

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

@gcunit How does the watering can upgrade work in SV? Is it like in Animal Crossing where it waters more tiles? ..or does it hold more water (meaning fewer refills) or something like that? (..or maybe it depends on the upgrade? - mine would be basic to copper)

I really think it'd be a huge benefit to my game either way - but the Blacksmith made me a bit nervous by saying that he'd have to keep it for 'a few days'...if he keeps it too long, it could threaten to unravel quite a lot of my hard work! :/

It's just like in the classic harvest moons, hold the button and the area of effect increases.

Upgrading the watering can is a must, and investing in sprinklers can't hurt either.
