Do short, controlled taps.

If you press the button too long even once, it's over.

@CroRock I'm having the same issue with the sound crackling. I restarted the game and it seems to have gone away for now. It looks like there's lot of other users on Reddit with the same issue and the devs are looking into it.

God I hate my internet provider. I've been downloading this game for the last two hours and change. Every big download is the same for me, whether it's for Switch or Steam or whatever - it starts out looking decent, then slows to an agonizing crawl and takes hours and hours. Going to call The Competition tomorrow about switching providers.

Download is finally complete, I'll be going to the Valley now. Thanks for letting me rant!

Anyone having problem with selecting items in crafting tab??? I can’t select some items with ➡️⬅️⬆️⬇️ cursor just jumps over them whatever I try and you can’t select them with analog stick! It’s super annoying 😡

CroRock, I'm having that same issue with the crafting menu. Hopefully they are aware of this issue.

Wow that sucks. A few years ago I was in the same position, not anymore thankfully. It took me a few minutes to download, but I know the struggle.

One thing I don’t get, in handheld mode if the joycons are connected to the console you don’t get any vibration, yet if you disconnect them or use the pro controller you get vibration feedback. No idea what the thinking was behind that.

Also I love the way fishing works. Each fish can be different, so some move about more than most, but I’ve got the hang of it quick. Never hold down the button, just quickly tap. I have very fast reactions, so that’s maybe why I got the hang of it, the challenge of it is great.

I find the fishing just varies with fish, and sometimes holding down the button helps, and contrary to what Meowpheel says, you can recover a bad situation. Took me about a minute to reel one in earlier, but I got there.

I honestly like the fishing system. It isn't the standard "mash the button to get the fish" seen in most games.

It could be more user friendly, but it's hardly the dumpster fire certain posters portray it as being.

My word...what a lovely little game this is!

I was going to wait until after this weekends 'Splatfest' (Splatoon 2) was over before snapping up Stardew Valley, but couldn't resist any longer - and now I'm left asking myself where the last 4 hours have gone! ..aside from a minor grumble about the rather excessive loading/saving times - I'm having an absolute blast!

I highly recommend it based on my impressions so far! ..for the price, this seems like an absolute steal!

@Ralizah Where were people calling it a dumpster fire? It's gotten nothing but praise from what I've seen.

@Ralizah Yeah no one called the game a dumpster fire. Stop overeacting. They just have complaints about controls and some litfle bugs. Hopefully he fixes these issues.

@Scrummer @Samus7Killer The fishing mechanic, not the game.

Anyway, I don't see that particular aspect of the game changing in any fundamental way. Hopefully the long loading time at the very beginning of the game is patched at some point: I thought my download of the game was corrupted at first!

@AlternateButtons So upgrading the rod makes it easier to catch the fish?

I hate to be that guy, but if upgrading the rod doesn't make it easier to catch fish then that's one pretty pointless ******* upgrade.

Rod upgrades, lures and baits all make fishing easier. But it still takes some skill.

@AlternateButtons Addicting? Nah bruh, I can stop anytime I want. I mean, I literally played the game all day long (I had a day off! Totally coincidental, I swear) and only stopped to let my Harvest Moon - addicted teenager play for a few hours. But no, it's not addictive at all.

For real though, lots and lots of fun. I did encounter a few of the issues people have mentioned. Crackling sound when playing docked, arcane fishing process which I still don't umderstand. Nothing that's going to make me stop playing, though.

If you think fishing is annoying wait until you find a treasure chest whole fishing.

I'm planning on getting this game. Out of 10, how quick should I get it? I mean, do I wait until Odyssey and see if I have money left or do I jump straight in?
