@WoomyNNYes This one is just free with NSO like back in the first time.
I’m still waiting for them to update that section on playing a certain game a couple times to be able to get any icons you missed so they can add Splatoon 3 there. It was such a missed opportunity as there are still only 5 games there. It felt like Nintendo was about to let us have a way of catching up on any icons we missed, but they never touched upon it after 5 games and they rather make us wait for reruns that might not last long.
It's been revealed via the NSO section of the Switch/Switch 2 dashboard that Splatoween has NSO icons you can earn from participation much like the prior 3 seasonal Splatfests (there weren't any icons for Splatoween 2024).
I actually still wonder if this Splatoween is a sign of another round of seasonal fests or it’s just a one-off to finally have NSO icons for all seasonal fests while a Mario fest happens in January and Splatfests just end after that
I was just playing right now and I got into a pretty bad losing streak, it’s because I kept getting put against teams leagues better than any team I’m in, in those cases it just gets impossible to win
Behold! Halloween themed lockers.
They don't make it easy to decorate for halloween, but I did manage to come up with these two. I'm kind of surprised I couldn't make a decent pumpkin, nor is there an orange color locker or purple locker. I used the plain white rectangle stickers to make the skull and tombstones.
I'm back... again. Again. I've got a lot of explaining to do, so I'm sorry if this post is too long or if it feels a little heavy.
I'm not new. I left over a month ago, but I'm back because of what happened this Splatoween. A game and especially an event like this inspiring me to come back might seem very silly, but it's more than that. Things could've been completely different and better for me had I stayed. After leaving here, I got bored of being a Shiver simp and chose Skeleton instead of Zombie again. I love Shiver, but I'm not into zombies. I like skeletons (or ghosts) way more. Well, I'm happy that Shiver's long losing streak is finally over, after a year and a half since Japan's Team Lightly Salted all the way back in March 2024. It's even more impressive that it's the smallest winning Splatfest team in Splatoon history. Where was this kind of energy back in 2023?
I might feel bad about not helping this time, but what really makes me feel bad is that I know I'd still be on Team Zombie had I stayed here. People remembered me as, "That guy with the Shiver avatar." Instead of being isolated with regret, I could've happily broken the news of Shiver's victory with you all. I feel bad for what could've been. Whatever issues I had with Nintendo Life before seem overblown now. So here I am. I've had a hard year struggling with mental health and depression. I just want to return.
No, I'm not becoming a simp again! I plan on choosing Family in Frosty Fest and Bear Cubs again in Spring Fest, but I can still choose Palace again in Summer Nights. I'm fully expecting the rest of the seasonal fests to be repeated next year, but I still have a little hope for a surprise Super Mario collab. I've never been a perfect Shiver fan to begin with. There's been Shiver teams I've regretted even if they won, like choosing money over love. I just enjoy Splatfest much more when the team is something I actually believe in. Choosing one character's teams all the time is truly boring. At the end of the day, you can't have Shiver without Deep Cut!
@Dev-N Welcome back! It's crazy how we went from "Will Shiver ever lose a Fest?" to "Can she pull it together?" I went with Zombie this time around, thanks to the Marvel Zombies show.
@CaleBoi25 I think there was just too much fatigue and backlash to Shiver’s dominance back then, so more of the skilled players chose Skeleton over Zombie the first time, but after a year and a half she's been humbled long enough. For once, Shiver's amazing Splatoween costume should be a winner alone!
I've always liked skeletons, whether it's the Jelletons from Side Order or Mario Kart World's Fish Bone more recently. What I don’t understand is why I kept getting mirror matches when Team Ghost was still overwhelmingly popular.
@Budda If I remember right, the details in the NSO post said the icons would come Oct 30 to Nov 16. Just in time for after everyone is done with splatoween & possibly halloween.😉
This system for unlocking icons is pretty moronic. Everyone want's these icons to celebrate the time leading up to halloween. Waiting until AFTER splatoween event and the holiday to distribute the icons seems to defeat the point of the holiday themed icons.
With the recently announced Animal Crossing x Splatoon collab and how there’s a terminal that had what looks like Bugs vs. Fish vs. Plants anyone think we’ll get an Animal Crossing fest in January?
@Dev-N With how I see it, this Splatoween is probably just a one-off while FrostyFest gets preempted to have an Animal Crossing fest instead and Mario fest is pushed off to March Splatfests in Splatoon 3 just end there. After that they’ll probably add all Splatfest and Tricolor maps (+ the ink colors) to private battles and hopefully another way of adding Super Sea Snails.
@MrCarlos46 At this point I'm kind of leaning towards it being a 2 year rotating repeat cycle and we got new seasonal Splatfests in October 2024 - July 2025 to take into account that seasonal Splatfests didn't start until October 2023.
Year 1
Big Run - Wahoo World (December 2022/2024), Inkblot Art Academy (March 2023/2025), Undertow Spillway (June 2023/2025), Um'ami Ruins (September 2023/2025)
Big Run - Barnacle & Dime (December 2023/2025), Eeltail Alley (March 2024/2026), Big Big Run (June 2024/2026), Grand Splatlands Bowl (September 2024/2026)
