@vio As much as I hope you're wrong... you might be right. Splashdown (and reefslider) are really hard to balance, because they seem overpowered in lower ranks, but incredibly weak in higher ranks. The devs will have to pick whether they want to cater to weaker players, or better ones.
In normal jobs, if a player has a stage badge after the switch, they will now start with a higher job title than before
Gold Badge- EVP 400
Silver Badge- EVP 300
Bronze Badge- EVP 200
Other- title corresponding to previous job title
@WoomyNNYes OH MY GOD. I JUST REALIZED WHAT IT IS, IT'S AMAZING. If you grind up to evp 600 (silver badge), next time you play on that stage, you're put back to 300 instead of 40 (same process for other badges). I NEEDED THIS SOOOO BADLY. (It's going to save hours of grinding!)
FrostyFest is happening during Chill Season 2023 but it hasn't been announced when during it yet. Much like Splatoween, there's some special gear you'll be able to get via the Switch news section.
@Croctopus I also get the impression of early January because of sneak peek needing to be taken into account. Sneak peek would need to start December 8th/9th (it's the 9th for some time zones) for it to be in December.
But either way, I get the impression that we'll get the specific timing at an event such as the Game Awards. It's like that Jet Force Gemini NSO announcement, it feels odd that Nintendo announced that the game was coming in December rather than a specific release date given December is already almost here.
@BingleyBongley So, if I wear an EVP badge, I don't have to reset all the way down at evp 40? If that's what it does, that may help me too. I've been stuck in pro 2 - pro 3 since splatoween ended, since i can't get away from newbs sandbagging my rank. I can't carry people that dont paint walls, die all the time, dont understand the basics of salmon run.

Oh snap! I got the gold badge of Jammin' Salmon Junction!... I'm at 400 right of the gate. Will be pretty hard, because I usually have to "warm up" before getting used to that difficulty. The rest of the stages will be 300 for me. Yay! 😅
I'm verry curious how this will turn out. I'm glad they finally changed it though. Getting past 200 and out of range of pro+3 players was hard at times.
@Budda That sounds like we start at the EVP level below the best badge. Since my best badges are EVP 200... This still sounds like I will start at EVP 40.
@DannyBoi No, you're definitely not, but it would be hard to make it work, because there's lots of changed and new mechanics in 3 (Squid roll and surge, being able to pick more than one weapon, different subs and specials, different enemies etc.) . Also, it'd probably be pretty disappointing because of how short it is. Also also, as someone who bought the original, I know I'm also going to buy the port (probably still priced at 90$ WHY ARE PORTS FULL PRICED?) even though I really don't need it.
One thing I just realized about checkpoints is that, say there's a not very good player who just managed to make it to evp. This player struggles a lot, until a golden rotation happens on one of the easier stages. They make it to evp 600 with the overpowered weapons and good teammates. Now, when they play on that stage when it's not a golden rotation, they'll start at evp 300 — way above there skill level — and be a detriment to their team. Point is, this change might make teammates even more useless. On the bright side (if this is true), I guess people who wanted a harder salmon run got what they asked for! (Seriously though, this could really be a problem)
I have the update downloaded and installed, but the servers are still down for maintenance.. Looking forward to seeing all the Salmon Run changes and additions. Too bad Joe(LOL) won't show up until Big Run happens.
