Topic: Splatoon 3

All right, I just made it to level 85 on my catalog. I'm hoping to make it to level 100 before the season ends. I haven't played Salmon Run that much, I should change that sometime. I've mostly been playing Turf War matches, though I have finished the story mode as well.

@WoomyNNYes Hey how's it going? I saw you were online and I tried joining your online session after winning my first match of the day, but it gave me a communication error. I think I know why, actually. I checked my friend list when that happened, and it said you went offline 9 minutes ago. It's odd that your character's still there in the lobby when you've finished playing... I tried joining another friend a while back, and the same thing happened. I did actually join before winning my first match of the day, and it did let me in, but the game had me waiting and waiting after your battle, so I had to go. Sorry about that. Plus I started playing at around 7:40 pm EDT, and a new day begins in-game on 8:00 pm EDT.

@chapuH @Croctopus Drizzle Season 2022's Splatfests were:

• Deserted Island - September 23rd - 25th
• Pokemon - November 11th - 13th

So shifting the Splatfests by 2 weeks for looking at this year you get:

• Deep Cut - September 8th - 10th
• ? - October 27th - 29th

Which would line up for Splatoween timing.

That reminds me. Forgive this really dumb question. Do we have to create a room for friends to be able to ramdomly join us in turf war? I've never been clear on what the game allows. It's rare that friends are online and playing the same mode, so I'm still not clear on how it works.🤣

@Grumblevolcano OH there BETTER BE a Splatoween this year. We need some halloween masks(gear) in Splatoon 3. I'm going to be quite disappointed if there's no Splatoweens in Splatoon 3.

Friends can join your lobby. But in this case, they get on to a random team. In a group, they are always on your team.

Thanks @Budda! I saw you had EVP 710.🤣 I started in pro 1, but with all the newbs I get here in the US, I'm not sure I'll get too far into EVP. I got to pro 3 now, we'll see.

@WoomyNNYes Do you recall setting up a room for friends last night, or did you just end up searching for a Turf War battle without picking the friends option?

Yea. I'm trying to get the gold badge for that stage. And it's easy! It's just a little time-consuming. I'm at 740 right now. Hoping to get to 999 tomorrow.

I made it to EVP, but never beat the king salmonid the 4-5 times I got them this weekend.

I got so spiteful with newbs, I changed my splatoon title for a bit to "Better-Than-You VP".😆 But that felt toxic, so I changed it back to my fave, "Cosmic VP". Have you gotten a "Salmon Run" or "Salmon Runner" title yet? That still eludes me.

@WoomyNNYes For real! This has got to be the best rotation ever. Those Grizzco weapons absolutely decimate Cohozuna and Horrorboros too.

@WoomyNNYes Yeah, I managed to get to Executive VP for the first time with this current rotation. Not getting good rewards for defeating Cohozuna/Horrorboros though, I need 1 more gold scale to unlock the tier 3 unlocks but I'm only getting bronze and rarely silver.

On a different note I've been seeing a lot more Side Order posts in the plaza than normal, looks like people are probably expecting a Gamescom reveal.

Welp, party's over. Looks like most of the veteran Salmon Run players in northeast US got their fill yesterday. I lost EVP, which isn't a shocker. There's virtually always teammates with 35-50 hours in the game. I can't carry them in EVP. I can't be the only one luring & taking out flyfish, fryfish, slammin lids, big shots etc. Sigh. After eight matches in a row of dismal teammates today, the fun is gone.

Finally spent enough scales such that there's no more question marks so I'm done with Salmon Run until Big Run next month. Big Run really isn't fun when your rank is too high and I'm currently at EVP 80.

The full catalog is now revealed, seems that some of the content is from past seasons.

It looks like there's no new gear which really sucks. What would you get if you already have that gear?

It's weird that it was really that bad for you on this rotation. I mean,... this was probably the easiest rotation ever.
I notice it right away, if I'm playing with newbies. And I had a couple of them. But I always managed to win anyway. Though. As always on a weapon rotation like this, people that are not good enough for that difficult, get on to a very high VP rank. And they get often overwhelmed by the difficulty very quickly.
I got up to VP700 with maybe 3-4 losses. The rest to 999 felt to me like I am playing VP300 on a normal rotation. Even Max Hazard. Win/Loss ratio at that point was "normal".
Long story short. I got to VP999 got the gold badge, and I even randomly got the silver badge for Horrorboros. 😁
Collected around 60 silver scales and 11 gold scales.
That said.. I really need a little break from SR now. I wait for the Season Update and the old new SR map.

@BingleyBongley I see a few new pieces of gear peppered in there, but they aren't that cool. You're right though, its mostly not new gear. I wasn't expecting that. New gear I saw: swim cap w goggles, baseball cap with light, a new color variation or two... This is the weakest catalog.

Wow that's....yeah no that's extremely disappointing. It was bad enough when Sizzle Season's only brand new gear was through the catalogue, now you're telling me we're getting even less on top of the latter half being repeats of ones already in the game? I'm usually extremely positive on 3 (more than most online it seems) but this is one thing where I can't come up with a good reason as to why this is the way that it is. They say it's for those who missed out on it originally but if that's the case, A: why wouldn't you just make them purchasable in the shops and B: WHY PUT THEM AT THE END OF THE CATALOGUE!?

Dooming and glooming aside, the brand new gear (as little of it as it seems) still looks really nice, helped out even further by the addition of cap/t-shirt adjustment coming as well, and Heavy Edit Splatling (also shown off in full today) looks pretty interesting, being essentially a Hydra Lite: slower than average charge time but a ridiculous fire rate/firing duration. I've been dipping my toes into Splatlings as a whole in 3 (love Mini and have started to really enjoy Heavy/Heavy Deco as of late) so I'll definitely be tinkering with Heavy Edit a ton come release!
