@novasoup @BenAV I still get communication errors, eastern US region. I can't say I notice things are better or worse for me.

I've been dying to ask this: How do players hang from the floating spawn point at the beginning of a match? I don't think I've ever seen my character hang from the spawn point at a match opening. Is it random? Does it depend on achievement in a previous match?

@WoomyNNYes I've played over 300 hours of this game and that's something that I've never even paid the slightest bit of attention to so no idea, haha.

@BenAV Found a reddit page that says it's Charger type weapons makes people hang from the floating spawn point at match opening. That's probably it.

Wow, I just had an S rank series battle and won 4 battles straight, then lost 3 battles straight and lost the series. I still got some points but I have a feeling this mode is going to be harmful to my wellbeing

@WoomyNNYes yeah different weapon types have different animations

@StarPoint Four wins in a series is still good though. At this point I'm happy enough to just win at least three and anything extra is a bonus. Even two wins I'm not too fussed with because that's enough to more or less break even on points. Just get a bit annoyed when I'm having multiple series in a row with 0-1 wins.

THE FABLED PATCH IS HERE.

I'm pretty happy with the changes we got here overall. Sloshing Machine got (rightly) nerfed, Reef-Lux has a bit more Points for Special (don't think it's going to do too much given the weapon's paint output but hey it's something) and ULTRA STAMP FINALLY WORKS (hopefully), which are definitelt the highlights. Haven't got a clue why they hit Flingza's special output as well (it did have Missiles but they weren't nearly as bad as the Reef-Lux or even Goo Tuber so idk about that one honestly) but apart from that it's a pretty decent patch and I'm very excited for the first proper update coming in December.

Though, in what can only be described as extremely unfortunate timing, my NSO plan expires the day this comes out. FUN.

i appreciate the fact that you can cancel matchmaking after pressing "keep going", a lot of the time ill be playing with friends and one of them would be "ok guys press stop because i have to go and collect my catalog!!!" and it turns out i already pressed "keep going" lol

Oh my goodness those communication patch notes are so good. Those .05 seconds will likely make a huge difference. Splatting people and picking up eggs have always felt delayed.

I'm glad that the Reeflux got slightly nerfed. People were farming the special too quickly. It's good that you can hold down the - button even after clicking keep going, sometimes I click it on accident.

Also, goodness those are a lot of bug fixes! Really happy with these patch notes, the only thing missing for me is the Tricolor changes. But we'll only have to wait a little bit longer to see those changes.

so i guess it looks like we're getting no splatoween this year, huh?
people were speculating that there would be a big run instead of a splatfest this month, but it doesn't look like we're getting one either (the speculation was because dataminers had found that big runs were splatfest-level events in terms of importance, and it even had its own rewards and everything)

@novasoup Yeah it's a little odd that we're just not getting anything in October. But the patch notes are at least something for me.

So when is the 1.2.0 patch releasing? It says 10/25, but it's getting pretty late where I live. Do we have an official time?

@novasoup Yeah, this will be rather shocking if there's no Splatoween, or event, for October/Splatoon 3.

@StarPoint NL's article said

Nintendo has announced Version 1.2.0 of Splatoon 3 will be delivered on October 25th/26th.

That's all Ive seen.

Alright, does anyone else feel like Salmon Run matchmaking is really messed up? I just played and lost 7 matches in a row, most with different teammates. I was an Eggsecutive VP 1+ about 2 weeks ago, but I have now sunk down into Profreshional 2+. It's really annoying because I keep getting stuck with teammates that don't prioritize egg collecting. They just kill a boss and then move on to the next one without collecting the eggs from it. People don't like to heal each other either, it seems. I don't run into this problem in normal lobbies, either. I go into an Anarchy Battle or even a Turf War and things seem much fairer. If we lose, it feels like something we did wrong caused that. If we win, it feels like we earned that win.

Maybe I'm just salty, but I was a really high Grizzco rank in Splatoon 2, and about 90% of the time, I felt that my teammates were helpful or at least adequate. Matches felt fair, and when I lost, it felt like something that could have been avoided. But in 3, I have lost countless matches due to incompetent teammates, to the point where I don't really even feel like playing the mode anymore until an update potentially balances things out. It seems that even decent teammates are a rarity to come by, even when I was in Eggsecutive and Profreshional 3+.

Another side note related to balance: The events are extremely easy compared to just a normal round. If you get a Mudmouth, Tornado, or Mothership event, it's practically a guaranteed win. They are so easy and even with bad teammates, we always get the requirement with plenty of time to spare. I feel like either these events need to be balanced to be more difficult, or standard rounds need to be balanced to be easier. There's just such a drop-off in difficulty practically whenever it changes to night, save for a Cohock rush or a Griller maybe.

Has anybody else felt these things? They're extremely noticeable to me. Maybe I'm just having extremely bad luck with the Grizzco matchmaking system since these problems don't seem to carry over to Anarchy Battles and Turf Wars. I'm considering just sticking to those two modes until this gets fixed since I'm starting to lose enjoyment in Salmon Run. It's a real shame because Salmon Run is easily my favorite mode in the game, but I'm just really struggling to find it enjoyable over the past week or two.

@StarPoint Just before the update, I was profreshional 3, and I went 10-12+ runs without finishing all three waves. The whole f__king time, my cohozuna meter was full. So, I never got cohozuna. It was insane how terrible the matching was. I lost faith, got bitter af, and haven't touched salmon run since. Matching seem really expletive broken. I think I got knocked back down to Profresh 2, too. Its the worst matching I've ever seen in profreshional 2-3. But this was before the 1.2 update.

Otherwise, I played turf war tonight for a bunch of matches. I'm only 3-4 catalog levels from getting the dab emote, which is catalogue level 98 or 99. While laggy splats seem improved, it still doesn't seem as good as Splatoon 2 was. I hope things continue to get better.

@StarPoint Most of the time I don't have too much trouble early on in Eggsecutive VP so if I just want to jump in, get my super bonus and Xtra Wave and then bounce it's usually pretty straightforward.

Untitled

Some weapon rotations can be particularly tricky and occasionally I'll struggle to find competent teammates (especially if I'm playing late at night) but most of the time the struggle doesn't start until probably at least like 200 or 300 points into Eggsecutive VP if I decide to grind it out longer.

Anarchy on the other hand can be a nightmare. I've noticed that in a lot of the games I lose there'll be that one teammate that has like one or two splats when everyone else has like ten. It can be really hard to find a competent team at times which I think is mostly due to how it's set up, with teams being able to stick together for multiple games in a row and weaker players not being able to rank back down after getting carried to a higher rank.

How's the patch going for you guys? My NSO subscription ran out the day this came out so I unfortunately won't be able to tinker with it for a bit (definitely plan on being back soon though) but I'm still curious as to whether the changes feel substantial enough (particularly on the weapons and those damn Flyfish).
