Although the people who keep telling others to ink their base annoys me as you win by taking the middle ground.
(the quote is from Jump above) @BenAV Would your turf % total be the same if we don't ink the base area? I'm highly skeptical that inking the base doesn't matter. I swear I've heard nintendo's own ad say 'ink the most turf' to win.
The most important thing to cover is enemy turf, since that’s basically double points for your team. -Points for the enemy, +Points for your team, whereas when you ink your own turf it’s just +Points. Still a good thing to work on, but probably not at the beginning of a match.

Let me reframe what I said to what I meant. People saying you should prioritize inking your own base annoys me.
Much like in war you need to advance to win, especially in a game centred on taking ground so by people not pushing forward with you from the start as they want to ink their base is giving the opponents a numbers advantage and less ink for you to maneuverer with. You will be travelling through your own area alot anyway when splatted which gives you time to ink your base then unless you've taken more ground to safely super jump to in which case you've probably taken the middle ground. As well as taking the middle grounds builds a defense for your base and makes it easier for you to attack their base more.
Although I do find the best way to win even with sucky team mates is to wait till the last 30 secs and then charge into opponents area and go mad spraying everything.
@jump Yeah, when we're talking about the start of a match, I rush across the map, only inking my path (and for a few maps, I put ink on a strategic wall). You're right, there's more nuance than saying "ink your base".
edit: and if there's a narrow corridor, I strategically skew my path to the side, in case someone behind still wants to build up their special while inking their own path to the middle of the map.
Mark the date for the 28th, our second ever all random weapon rotation for Salmon Run is coming!
Don't think that this is exactly what we're frothing at the mouth for in regards to Salmon Run as of late, but these are always great fun (and an easy way to get Cohozuna kills) so I'm not complaining.
Also oof to all the Bayonetta fans who play Splatoon, you're in a rock and hard place on that one.

Not used to getting that sort of luck in Anarchy (Series). So that's what it's like to have fun with this game, haha.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think S+10 is the point where you can never drop back down below S+0 at the start of a new series? That's what I'm aiming for because I don't want to have to deal with that rank up battle again each time.
Has anyone thrown an egg at the weapons toolbox in Salmon Run lobby? It throws the egg back to you. You can play catch with yourself. (Although, I'm standing the limit of how far the egg can be thrown back to you)
Also, if anyone hasn't seen, the current Salmon Run weapon offering is pretty decent, assuming you know rollers are great for mowing down chum & smallfries for your teammates.
Try to guess how many runs I've gone without getting cohozuna while having a full cohozuna icon? It was five, six, could be more. I don't know. I gave up last night. I couldn't get past the third expletive wave. I kept getting 1-2 newbs. I'm sitting at profreshional 3, but I'm not strong enough to carry the teams the game is serving me.
Dang, @BenAV. You're like some kind of splatoon jesus.😁
@WoomyNNYes I know a lot of people have made it to S+50 already but my Internet connection is way too unreliable for that, it can be a really struggle to play at all at times, so getting to S+10 will do me. Speaking of which, I'm up to my dreaded rank up battle From S+9>S+10 so time to fail horribly, haha.
Edit: I think online services just broke for a minute right when I tried to start my rank up battle... promising start.
Here's a fun little story showing how absolutely obsessed I've become with Splatoon with 3's release:
So something that I like to do when I'm either trying to relax or am just not sure what I want to look up is to search 'Pokemon' into the Twitter search bar. You'll occasionally get some....shall we say 'unsavoury' stuff from time to time but a lot of the time it's just a nice little haven of news, memes and absolutely gorgeous art. I recently started doing the same with Splatoon after the Direct aired to see the reaction to the news and particularly Deep Cut. And what did I find? THE F****** HOLY GRAIL THAT'S WHAT.
I swear, I have NEVER seen this much precious art in my entire life. The vibe is just so cosy as well: it's just people talking about a game they like. No arguing, no flaming, just....zen. It's brilliant stuff and I'm so mad I never realised it sooner.
Also if you're into shipping then good lord do you have ammunition with Splatoon characters (Agents my beloved).

@novasoup I lost one Anarchy game to a communication error earlier and have still been getting plenty in the lobby so no noticeable improvement on my end.

@novasoup The rank up battles can be brutal, going from A+ to S took me seven or eight tries as I kept getting connection issues whenever I looked like I was finally going to win and the rest of the time I just couldn't find good teams. Thankfully I got lucky with both my S to S+ and my S+9 to S+10 ones though and beat them first try.
