So anybody using the tenta brella a lot? I haven't been able to play very much since it has been added, and when I have played it it has been in portable mode and I suck at playing Splatoon in portable mode. I'm running swim speed, ninja squid, and sub power up as the main abilities right now so I can sneak around and place beakons and get close enough for one shot splats, but again that isn't going very well right now. Anybody have tips for using it? It is just so different from the splat brella. Bubble blower just doesn't feel right with it either, so I'm not running object shredder.
Maybe I should get rid of ninja squid and focus on controlling turf and completely avoid conflict when I can.
@NapalmPsalm That just sounds like you may as well be using the Krak-On Splat Roller.
Not sure if the Tenta is good. It hasn't seemed like much of a threat so far, but perhaps Brellas need better teamwork than can be expected from random players to really shine. Actually, though, maybe I'll pick it up and try blocking chokepoints with it. I like doing that.
@Zyrac wow, I didn't even realize it. The Krak-On has a better special too for using it that way. Only difference is one has a shield and a different play style because of that. Krak-On is a lot easier to get the one shot too.
Yep, looks like I'll be changing my play style then to find out how to play it best.
@Zyrac The standard Brella is better for lone wolves, going around claiming turf while being more able to react to threats. It's shield is good for the occasional distraction, but not much else, and it's launch is too speedy to be really helpful.
Tenta is where it's at for people who really want to put the shield to good use. Even with the slower opening, it's greater size and strength against attacks more than make up for it. And the slower launch travel speed makes it much better at covering an advance or sealing a path. Though like the Dynamo Roller, it's somewhat better at defending a location than making a push.
Not fond of Ink Resistance Up, though I've soon got enough chunks
I really wish there was a trading function in Splatoon 2. Originally (during Splatoon 1) I had gear-trading in mind, but trading ability chunks would be even better!
Please add gear chunk trading, Nintendo!
There's no Power vs. Stamina Splatfest in Japan. It was a mistake. Those that got a t-shirt got it returned and Nintendo will announce the real Splatfest toward the end of the week. Weird.
Maybe Nintendo JP realized the Splatfest tees were faulty and could accidentially explode, so they had to recall them. )
@Dev That's really interesting, I didn't even know those bits about Off the Hook's backstory. Now I want to know more! I agree, Nintendo should find a way to elaborate on their backstory in the game...
And @Scrummer I think your theory is spot-on! That would make a lot of sense!
@shani I wholeheartedly agree. And I have the same issue with pretty much all other abilities that aren't Ink Saver Main, Ink Saver Sub, Ink Recovery Up, Run Speed Up, Swim Speed Up or Special Charge Up (8 chunks away from a perfect Sub Power Up gear piece ).
Or maybe add a (pricey) option for buying chunks since you'll eventually run out of things to buy to the point that even Murch's scrubbing price of 20,000 is but a drop in the bucket.
@GoldenGamer88 While I'm also collecting chunks of all the other abilities (except for Special Power Up) you mentioned,. I'd also happily trade them for your Ink Resistant chunks if you don't need them.
Since I rarely found time to play Splatoon recently (especially ranked), I'm actually grinding for cash all the time (otherwise I'd agree)...
I just finished my first proper ranked session - 1:15h Rainmaker - in many weeks and after a lot of straight wins (and a long overdue rank up) I managed to gather 20000p to scrub slots. And right after doing that I realized that Murrch had almost exactly what I had ordered for 20000p, which I now can't afford anymore. Stupid me, why didn't I look up my orders first, like I always do?
And since they made it harder to unlock the subslots of the Splatfest tee, it will take even longer until I finally have enough chunks to replace my first subslot (the closest I am is 6 chunks of Ink Resistance). But hey, at least we have that possibility now, I would've given anything in Splatoon 1 to replace my subslots (apart from Splathax).
I second this. I've always looked at ink resistance as an ability that anyone can benefit from, though I do think certain weapon types benefit from it more. Of course there will always be situations where ink resistance will help, but some weapons like the aerospray for example, that can spread ink quickly and easily, may not need to rely on it as much. While a slosher or splatling on the other hand, where making a get-away path is much harder, I feel that they can take advantage of the ability more, and be able to do more tactics then they could do without it. I know I definitely notice a difference when I am or am not using ink resistance with the slosher, and can say that ink resistance has saved me from many splats because of the increased movement. But I still think one main of ink resistance is enough. Maybe two, but after that I think it's better to focus on enhancing different abilities.
@shani And I‘d happily trade them, more than 60 chunks, for ... lemme see, 21 Ink Saver Main and 4 Ink Recovery Up chunks (that‘s how much I need to finish my Mobility Set). They should seriously introduce a trade system. One man’s trash is another man‘s treasure, after all.

I'd insist on the value of Ink Resistance Up. If you're running away or getting flanked, an 80% (!!!) increase in movement helps.
Not sure where this number is coming from. It's about 60% with one main, and caps at about 200%. But yeah, that's big.
Also, Inkipedia update clarifying something I said before: Ink Resistance doesn't work while firing shooters, blasters or dualies, but does work with other weapons. So it is indeed a good pick for sloshers and splatlings.
@shani If it you did this today you better hit up salmon run or use money food. I've got a little over 200000 just because of salmon run.
Man, I've been in a funk recently and it has been pretty discouraging. Noticed I was using a bunch of slow weapons and decided I wanted to pick up the pace. Switched to the inkbrush(normal) and man, it is so refreshing. Playing slow got stale without me even noticing and oddly enough the fast pace was relaxing. I need to pay attention to when a style starts feeling stale and start switching it up more often. Gotta stay fresh!
The results for Splatoon 2's Famitsu Squid-Fashion Contest contest have been announced. For anyone wondering why this is at all interesting or relevant, it looks as if - just like the first game - the chosen designs will be appearing in the game in some form.
Or at least some of them. I've only skim read it, as it's 3am here and I need to get to bed, but keep an eye out for more information emerging from more reliable sources.
In the meantime, let me leave you with unrelated and entirely egotistical screengrab.
