@shani True! But iirc there's also some kind of XP bonus you get from winning battles with a really high freshness level, which I think will encourage most people to stick with one weapon to get their level up faster.
Is anyone else a handheld mode player? In my opinion, they're all different, but no method is objectively better or worse.
Has anyone else had a loathsome experience upon encountering the tri-slosher?
It's like the AEK-971 of Battlefield 4 or the automatico from Battlefield 1...
Perhaps I'm being hyperbolic but I really hope it gets a nerf
I don't know B4 lingo but yeah. Watch out for the Tri-Slosher. They're very very good at close range combat and at dealing kills. It's pretty notorious based on what I've seen from multiple different sites.
Getting lots of defeats in wave 1 or wave 2, getting deranked which means it's taking longer to reach the next pay grade level. I've almost lost a whole rank tonight through losses, the rewards trickle through no matter what, but losing in wave 1 or wave 2 is making me bounce between Part-Timer and Go-Getter constantly, I've not yet made it to Overachiever which is proving frustrating.
@otterskateboard I ended up of the Splatoon subreddit while researching the mysterious G&K clan. All anyone was talking about was the dreaded Tri-Splosher.
Splosh. Splosh. Dead.
The Octobrush was spoken of in similarly fearful tones. People seemed to feel it outclassed pretty much all other roller-class weapons. I've never been sure if it was a roller-class weapon, but people seemed to speak as such.
When people learn to play proactively instead of reactively to enemies, as well as stop charging headlong into their short ranges and ambushes, then people will stop dying so much to tri-sloshers and octobrushes.
The greatest advantage these weapons can have is the element of surprise. So work to cut off potential flanking avenues and you'll have a much easier time.
The higher I climb in rank, the more I find I have to use my head to get at my enemy with a Tri. Plus, if an ace team is properly working inseparably as a squad, it's almost impossible to catch anyone by surprise, even at the side of your own teammates.
(Probably why I do so much better in RM with the Tri, because squad tactics don't quite work the same way in that mode)
Man, when I first started this game I was sucking it up with the chargers which made me really sad since I got really good with them in Splat1. I decided to try picking up the starting charger again and holy crap it came flowing back to me... at least in turf war anyway. The charge save came in a lot handier than I thought it would with people rushing me since I was splatting people with the spawn punisher ability, which is really fun to use on distance based weapons!
@NapalmPsalm Yeah, charger skill changes like the weather for me. I usually start the day with a charger test round, and switch out of it immediately if I have a bad game with it.
@Missile Hah, it seems like you were always on the wrong team. I would have stayed longer if I had known you were there.
I woke up excited for the weapon that would be announced today, and as soon as I saw it was the Sploosh-o-matic I groaned in disappointment. Never really liked the weapon, and I would much rather a new or re-worked weapon like the Splat Brella or Dualie Squelchers. It does have the Splashdown though, so I may enjoy it more. But even then, I'm more of an aggressive player who rushes in to splat everyone with my range, so the inkredibly short range is not good for me. I'll see, I guess.
Also, I am very excited to unlock both the Goo Tuber and Flingza Roller because I love the idea of a very mobile Charger and a pretty unique Roller, but I'm still Level 20 and it's going to take forever to level up.
@Zyrac The Splash-o-matic had the Suction Bomb Rush. That was pretty much it. Other than that, it was a standard Shooter. The Sploosh, on the other hand, had extremely short range and no accuracy in exchange for killing very quickly and having the fastest fire rate in the game. It's kind of a more extreme Aerospray made for ambushing instead of inking.
