@TheLZdragon, is it me, or did burst bombs get nerfed? They seem less powerful, at least when using them to speed up a splat. I guess they're still useful for that extra distance, though.
They did. They are back to their original stats (maybe a bit weaker?). You can now throw multiple burst bombs again, but they are weaker. I prefer to use mine as a quick attack or to expose hidden opponents.

so been trying to buy clothes with 3 stars but not sure when you get the ability icons how or what they actually do ? they seem to make no difference at all ! also specials... from what i have experienced so far the jetpack one seems to be the most effective so far?
@burger_king the sub/secondary abilities? (Question mark icons when you first get them)
As you play turf wars or ranked battles and earn exp, your clothing also gets exp and unlocks the slots in the gear.
These sub abilities have smaller effects than the main ones, but still can stack with the main ones and other sub abilities of the same kind.
To see a bigger result, try wearing one or more gear with a main ability. For example run speed. And compare it to moving out of squid form without any run speed on and you should see the difference.
As for specials, it kind of varies. I do think the inkjet is a pretty good offensive weapon, but you are also very open to attacks as well.
One good combination is the ink armour with it though since it helps protect the inkjet and makes them a force to be reckoned with.
Lol I'm still grinding to get to level 10. If you know what you're doing, that is an awful lot of turf war to have to play before you get to the fun stuff.
Just realized that the game has a code for that squid icon that shows when you splat someone. If it's a jagged border, it was your own kill. If it's a regular circle, it was an assist.
I believe I'm A- in Splat Zones and Rainmaker, and B in Tower Control. Not to brag, but I'm actually sucking less than I thought I would, lol. A rank is difficult, though. You can definitely see it's where a lot of the Splatoon 1 players are, so I'm not doing nearly as well as I was in C and B.
@Maxz I got mine a few days ago in Rainmaker, and surprisingly I got it with the Tenta Missles. I was only shooting the missles at two people, but it was just dumb luck that the other two people ran right to that exact spot.
@Spanjard I'd be up for some League Battles, haven't tried them out yet. Just got home though and might need half an hour or so to be ready.
Regarding your other question: I'm B- in all three modes since the start of the week, didn't have much time after work or simply was too tired. But my goal for today and tomorrow is to get to ~ A.
@Nicolai: Interesting, hadn't noticed that. Gotta pay close attention to it when I splat/assist the next time.
@TheLZdragon: In addition to what you mentioned, I found another good use of Burst Bombs: When your Splashdown was not enough to splat a nearby enemy, throwing a Burst Bomb at them right after you touch down usually finishes them.

Oh yeah, gotta do that too! Only scanned all three of mine once on the first day and didn't know they had more to offer after you play for a while.
@ACK Ah that's a good point! Hadn't thought about that aspect, but not having to wait to unleash your special is clearly a huge advantage of Ink Armour. Thanks for pointing that out!
And I agree, the ingame descriptions really aren't that reliable. Just like in the original, we'll have to wait until someone does a thorough analysis and posts some detailed videos and charts.
@burger_kingIf you hit 'Y' → Status → Ability, you'll see all the abilities and what they do. Just don't take the descriptions at face value, they're a bit vague.

Not really. ^^ Not to brag, but I unlocked Ranked/lvl10 on the late evening of the release day. And it's not like I played for the whole day, just ~2 hours after midnight and then again on the early evening. For how many hours have you played the game so far?
