@Dogorilla I don’t know why the copies are worth so much but it’s likely because of a limited press run combined with scalping. It took a while for me to fully get combat and exploration but it’s more than overcome that and sits near the top of my all time game list, which is relatively varied.
@TheJGG My point is I don't think it is worth much any more. It's £15 at CEX for example, whereas I paid £46 for it on eBay in 2015 iirc, so its value has gone down massively since then. Anyway, we're a bit off topic here in the Skyward Sword thread...
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music
@Dogorilla I do wonder why, though it won’t stop me from keeping the game as an emotional keepsake. Same with Skyward Sword because it has such a nice cover art, plus the orchestral CD.

Yeah you can find it for £20 on ebay too. About 5 years ago, it was going for about £80.
You can't beat the law of supply and demand. (although Nintendo like to try)
Frankly the demand for the Wii version should be almost zero at this point, given that the Switch version is better in every single way.
@Dezzy No idea why that is, but either way collectors in the future may have a demand for this; it's such a rare game. The Switch edition is the best without any doubt though.
Nintendo do like to control their supplies, back in the late eighties they gave retailers a fraction of their order. And they also held the stock ransom if any retailers supplied competitors.
Yeah but collectors are a very small portion of the audience. Most people just buy games so they can play them. So with Xenoblade being released on New3DS, Wii U eshop, and now Switch (all of which have digital versions, which are infinite in supply), that obviously leads into a drop in price, as there's no longer competition over a limited number of copies.
@Dezzy I agree. I do hope somehow the price goes up so I can make some money off my copy. Or not; it's nice to keep because it got me into JRPGs to begin with.
I wonder if playing with the joycons is going to feel any different or more acurate than the Wii version. I didn't really have that hard a time on the original aside from rolling bombs. That was my biggest issue. The skydiving mini game was sorta hell and that balancing pumpkins game at the lumpy pumpkin sucked with motion controls. As for combat and reflecting enemy projectiles or blocking attacks i had no trouble at all.
"Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" Optimus Prime
@Zeldafan79 Playing the game exactly how you were originally supposed to without troubles means good game design. Sometimes things like resetting the pointer was time consuming but overall they were very immersive for me.
@Slowdive I knew this but hearing it reversed made me realise just how genius Zelda sound direction is.
Never have I heard a song that sounds so good forwards and backwards.
I'm really excited for this game. To my understanding this is the opposite of BOTW in terms of storytelling and it explains much of backstory of series so I'm excited to see it
It's the opposite of BotW in pretty much every way. If you changed the names of the characters and the game title, you would never know these were the same series.

Yup, and that's why I love SS haha
Man, I can't wait for this game. I am so ready for a "new" traditional Zelda.
That looks really great. Lets hope the texturing in the Switch version looks as good as that does. I'm definitely appreciating 60fps a lot more nowadays. In any game that's based on any kind of split-second timing, it's such a huge boost.
That amiibo... it looks nice and all but it does something that is so trivial and for me so useless. Because I’ve played the game through once I won’t be completely lost with progress, so there’s no need to have a fifteen dollar Ooccoo replica in the game.
I can’t say for sure if it’s a necessary feature to begin with. The save statues weren’t exactly scarce, I’d say they were well distributed. In the time it takes to scan the amiibo, return to Skyloft and save you could have just found a bird statue and saved. Plus in dungeons there’s an option in specific statues to leave the dungeon, though it’s a one way exit it must be said.
Kinda crummy Nintendo put this new feature behind amiibo... again. Twilight Princess HD did this too by locking the 40 floor Cave of Shadows behind an exclusive amiibo, and the option to double damage taken behind another. I can’t imagine buying another amiibo for the rest of my life, because of how gimmicky they are... and the people that are like me will lose out for the foreseeable future. God forbid if Nintendo’s next console still supports amiibo.
@Eel Funnily my shield never broke during my playthrough. I have no idea why but I just never used it. One less thing to worry about when dungeon crawling.
