The Let's Go catching mechanics were so bad. The motion inputs rarely registered correctly and removing the battle elements made every encounter feel less engaging. I hope we never see them again.

Retro gaming is too damn expensive.

Nah, for the shiny charm you just need research level 10 on every Pokémon species.

100%ing the tasks further increases your chances of finding a shiny of that particular species, but it’s otherwise not necessary.

True, you don't have to constantly catch pokemon over and over, but the game is built around catching tons of pokemon. It's mostly how you make money, and how you get points towards your team level.

My issue were chunks of the core campaign were locked behind progressing the ranks so far, and just playing organically would not net enough points to progress, so you had to stop and grind out unfun busy work tasks to continue the game like some free to play MMO. If they iron that out and keep everything else, I would be fine with it.

@Pizzamorg I never once had to grind out for ranks. I just always got to the next area without much of an issue.

I didn’t even know there were rank-based area restrictions in the game until after I had seen the credits. I think I reached rank 6 before leaving the first or second map 😅

Yeah, I had no interest in catching the same Pokemon over and over again, so I hit grind walls I think twice before the campaign was over? Where I was just going back to the same locations, catching Pokemon I didn't want and then having to manually release them because you had to catch so many and were given such little box space. I appreciate this is great for the completionists, but for me, this was beyond tedious. Felt like I was playing a free to play mobile game.

I wish more languages would come to game like petition of https://chng.it/JbgYrkj4sk Latin American Spanish. Plus I wanted to see Russian for years, because it's one of bigger languages that is being used in the world, a lot of older Lithuanians can only speak/read only Lithuanian and Russian, and at least in 2016 I saw that in same time when new trailers came for Sun & Moon there was Russian ones too.

Wanted to mention more about languages, that there is, at the moment, movement for Portuguese and Brazillian Portuguese localization for these games. For more information check this link https://br.ign.com/pokemon-scarlet/96871/news/pokemon-scarlet...

@Pizzamorg You get a lot of box space.
You can store up to 930 Pokémon. (Box space expands)
I have never released any of my Pokémon while playing that game.

Oh does the box space get bigger as you go along? Lol I never noticed. I am pretty sure I have always had five boxes, but I was in all likelihood not paying attention, if I am being honest.

@Pizzamorg Yeah. I was a bit concerned at first because I think you start with like 8 boxes or something. But when I got to like box 7, suddenly I had 16 boxes.

Eel

It usually starts at 8 boxes and it expands once you have at least one Pokémon in each box (up to 32 I believe).

So you can actually force it to expand earlier by manually placing one Pokémon in every box and reloading that menu. (This can be done in many of the games and I assume it’ll be the same in these new ones, so it’s a good tip to remember)

So a Pokemon Presents with a new trailer for this game seems like it could happen any day now. May/June is typically when we get the next batch of news after the game reveal. What are your thoughts on when we'll see it and what we see?

Usually the second trailer is the one that really starts to give us concrete details, that's when we get a lot of info on key aspects of the game and early game content. It's pretty typical for us to get things such as region name, release date, mascot legends, rivals, professor, some prominent/early game Pokemon, etc. and some prominent/early game mechanic changes (new dex features, some key sidequests, etc.).

But what I'm most excited for that I think we'll see now is more details on how the open world actual works. Open world is a big step for Pokemon, even over LA, and they're going to want to explain pretty early how an open world Pokemon game will work. As for how, it's arguably not an open world game unless they have open progression of some sort, so changes such as being able to visit any area or challenge any gym leader from the start (or perhaps after a short, Great Plateau-esque tutorial section) would be natural ways to achieve this, so if they're going that route (and I do believe they are), this is probably when we'll hear about it.
