Topic: Pokemon Legends Arceus

@Fizza wow, that's quite a goal. Personally I find having a living regular Dex is challenge enough.

That said, my long-term Pokemon goal is to have a living dex for every Pokemon generation, so I've got plenty on my plate. So far I've only managed to achieve Sword and Shield and that was ruined when the DLC, BDSP and Arceus came out.

So as if to spite me, when the game finally does something I like, it does it in the suckiest way possible. So bad in fact, Reddit is full of people - myself included - who are concerned they are either soft locked or just out and out bugged.

Here is my PSA. DO NOT ENJOY THIS CONTENT. What I mean by this, is when the first Massive begins, you'll see icons all over the map. You'll want to go to each one, see what Pokemon spawn, see if there are any Shinnies, you know... have fun. But what the game actually wants you to do is Supermarket Sweep the three nearest to you, just one shot the first Pokemon you see and then move on in a mad dash.

Why? Well I dunno why they created it this way, but the Massive's only stay active for a VERY small window. And once they're gone, it just seems to be entirely based on RNG as to when they trigger again. If you don't clear three (clear conditions are to either catch or defeat a Pokemon in three of the Outbreaks in the collection, merely discovering it is not enough) of these in one Massive, you just cannot physically progress the game. Some people have made theories about needing to wait for it to rain, people have been resting and resetting their games for hours until it finally works. I am now in this position to.

Just baffling awful execution, I hope to God this gets patched. I cannot wrap my head around how they took something good and then just did it in such an awful way.

@Pizzamorg The fact that it's RNG dependent is garbage I won't lie (it caught me out in both the Mirelands and Icelands), but I really like them honestly.

I use a different method for my outbreaks: I give Munchlax his berries so he'll map out the Pokemon in the area so I can decide which one to go for between the ones I want as shinies, the ones with more Berries or the ones that will give me much needed evolutions for my dex. After deciding which ones to go for (since looking at the map pauses the timer), I go for those ones immediately and clear them out for the quest. If I have time left (which I usually do given the previous planning out), I then do each one closest to me to see if I can get them as shiny as well. I've gotten a shiny Luxio and Swinub using this method already along with completely cataloguing Dartrix, Decidueye, Ursaring and Ursaluna's catching/defeating requirements for the dex.

Could it be better? Absolutely. But what's here right now is something I adore.

(also, maybe don't say DO NOT HAVE FUN in your PSA? That's definitely more subjective than objective)

*unless your fun is meticulous planning to do something, because of a completely unnecessary, unneeded and arbitrary time and RNG restriction to progress a quest. Stealing the fun of discovery for a sweaty game of chance.

Edit: it actually gets worse, you have to catch or defeat EVERY Pokemon of that Outbreak that spawns to count it as a clear, so you can't even just mad dash it either.

@Fizza I'm having a lot of fun with them too, I actually got my third shiny this game (if you count ponyta) the second being burmy, I was fighting a whole bunch or Ursaring and a shiny was close enough too join the battle lol.

@FroZtedFlakerZz Hang on just a second! You managed to get a shiny BURMY?! You can only get them from trees! You're probably luckier than everyone else here if you actually have it. Do you have a picture of it by chance?

@Fizza Really? Burmy's such a low tier pokemon I didn't think it was any good, I don't know much about the odds though, it's the sand/rock looking burmy, but shiny. (I would throw in a picture but I'm at school and don't quite know how lol).

Edit: It doesn't look that different from actual Burmy though, wouldn't have known had I not seen the sparkly star symbols after I hit the tree

@FroZtedFlakerZz It may not be a good shiny, but a rare shiny can be just as special! Also, do you know if it's male or female? Shiny Mothim is fantastic.

@Fizza No I can't remember, I'll be sure to let you know though. I'd much rather the Mothim than Wormadam, I think Burmy is currently rotting away in a box though. Would you recommend evolving it or keeping it as a burmy?

@FroZtedFlakerZz It would be cool to keep as a Burmy in my opinion to show that you did, in fact, get a shiny Burmy when it can only spawn in trees. Mothims can be found in the overworld so they're not too difficult to find if you're looking to get a shiny one of those and I wouldn't bother evolving it into a Wormadam since it's shiny, like Burmy's, isn't very good at all.

These are just my suggestions though, I'm going for a shiny of every regular Pokemon in PLA so I envy you getting one of the shinies that I am going to struggle with without even trying.

@Fizza Yeah that's about what I was thinking about Burmy, from what you've said it sounds like a nice shiny to have. Good luck with the Great Shiny Heist though, I don't know if I could do that so I salute your bravery.

Just beat the main part of the new Daybreak quest. What a lovely bookend to a fantastic game. Can't wait to hunt for the starters and alphas!

(also, the last bit where they ask you about the future and you reply with either gyms or contests is amazing)

Just beat God (Arceus) at last.
Oh my god dude what a fight. It was fast-paced and exhilarating the entire time, the music getting faster and faster after each phase was amazing and it was actually bloody difficult (I died 4 times before finally getting him). Loved this fight, loved this game, bring on SV baby! (oh and I found both a shiny Yanma and a shiny Snover as well beforehand which was incredible)

Yep, I'm well on my way to finish the pokedex, just don't want to have to catch spirit tomb, ugh!

Oh and I actually found two shiny's yesterday.

@Snatcher You can get it through the new raids I think. I've seen reports of people with it, without actually having the wisps.
