It's most likely there will be something new in CoroCoro this month. So that means we most likely will get trailer next week to get ahead of CoroCoro.

We know a lot more about Sword/Shield at this point than about Sun/Moon at this time in 2016. All we had was the Pokemon Direct tease until this trailer on May 10th 2016:

i hope that after this we get a diamond and pearl remake, those games are close to my heart and i think the 3d effects would be so cool

I'd be on board with this actually. Until Sun and Moon, those were the Pokemon games I was the most hyped about before release. The world wasn't as connected then, but I was able to try the in-store demo back when demo units were more common around here. The not-quite-3D effect was mind-blowing to young teenage me at the time. Ruby and Sapphire were significant graphical leaps in their own right after Gens 1 and 2, but this took the series to a whole new level for me.

Gens 4 and 5 still contain my favorite art styles in the series.

Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)

Gen 5’s art style always felt strange to me in appearance. Incredibly blocky and messy, even by Pokémon standards. It was nice that they were trying new things though. Although the 3D structures were among the uglies things in Pokémon that I can recall.

It was a 3d game on the DS, and they were coming out of the “it’s 3D but mostly looks like 2D with depth” phase of the fourth gen. They had to work with what they had.

Yup, I appreciate them trying new stuff and looks. It just didn’t age very well I’d say

DP remakes are the only other game I could possibly be excited for until Game Freak finally decides to go open world. And even then, that's only if they don't screw it up by removing something from the original game or dumbing down the maps or something. DP is already a good game, all they have to do is recreate it in the SM/SwSh style and throw in Platinum's Pokedex and a story arc with Giratina and you have a slam dunk. Knowing Game Freak though, they're going to do something to make this game mediocre.

I think Let's Go is the remake series now (e.g. I think 2020 will be Let's Go games in Johto) so the DP remakes would be in the Let's Go style after Johto and Hoenn have been done.

Imagine that. I would honestly be incredibly upset if Gamefreak decided to go that direction with Let’s Go.

Or they get to remaking Gen 3 in LG style, and shortly after a new mobile spinoff takes the world by storm and they start remakes based on that, leaving Gen 4 perpetually abandoned

Now Playing: Mario & Luigi Brothership, Sonic x Shadow Generations

Now Streaming: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

That’s what I would imagine. Especially with Pokémon games taking longer and longer to make each Gen.

This is the Schedule I be happy with:
Main - 2019
Remake - 2020
Let's Go - 2021
Main - 2022
Remake - 2023
Let's Go - 2024
And so on.

Octane

Let's Go felt more like a one off thing than anything else to be honest. A relatively low effort game to ride the Switch hype wave. Knowing their mainline game wouldn't be ready until 2019, they had to get something out on the Switch.

Eel

I think we would be fine just getting a single remake and up to two Pokémon gens per console generation, with let’s go acting as a separate series to pad out the release schedule when needed.

@Octane I really hope you're right. LGP/E are the very first pair of mainline Pokemon titles that I've not had even the slightest bit of interest in buying even one of. If this cheap cash-in replaces the high-quality remakes we were getting before, I will be very, very angry.

@Harmonie same here, not even mildly interested in Let's Go. I do reckon it appeals to a certain target audience though, so I'd say the people who are enthusiastic deserve a sequel.
