@sixrings Personally, my backlog is the result of me working ~100 hours a week and having a life outside of video games but yknow, whatever.

Anyways, terrible direct, super disappointed. But w/e, guess other people are happy.

And I was wrong about Super Mario remasters happening (even if no Galaxy 2 and only available in a limited run so I'll probably never get my hands on one anyways), I will admit that as promised.

Wow, yeah, so I just feel awful about the Switch after this. Haven't been this disappointed in the system... in it's lifespan. Not going to be anything to play until at least June next year most likely, jeez (well, except maybe SMT III might drop before then). I'm even getting out of having a backlog finally.

Hot diggety, this direct only rides for people who haven't played the mainline mario games already. I really truly expected SM64 to have been remastered to live up to sunshine and galaxy in terms of models and graphics, but aside from Bowser's Fury, there is really nothing New to look forward to until Spring 2021, huh

YES! BEST DIRECT EVER!!! Only 2 weeks... this is incredible! I had almost lost hope.

Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.

I do have a question. 3D All-Stars will still be playable after March, right? You just can’t buy it.

Well, was hoping for more changes when it comes to the 3D collection. A graphical or musical overhaul of the first two games would have made the experience fresh enough for me to consider buying it. All other products shown are not for me at all either. When it comes to Nintendo's offering this year, I am really disapointed.

Yeah, I wonder why there’s still no holiday game? You think they’d choose some game to release in December. On the bright side, we’ll likely still be playing 3D All-Stars come Christmas.

I will at least. I’m not a fast gamer.

Nintendo soured such an amazing announcement today. Freaking hilarious

I was already a bit bummed that Galaxy 2 would be omitted from the 3D All Stars collection on Switch but it's also a limited release both physically AND digitally? This is probably being done just so they could resell the individual releases from the collection at ludicrous prices later.

That's just...really dumb

@TheFrenchiestFry Manufactured demand. It makes EA and Activision look consumer-friendly in comparison.

@TheFrenchiestFry Doubt it. They probably plan on locking the games away as totally unavailable until the 40th or 50th anniversary. They won't be available except from scalpers after March.

Also, just occurred to me, this means that we're not getting a new console on NSO this year...

It seems that (besides Mario Kart Home Tour) Nintendo has no new games coming out through March, with their big Mario celebration title being a ports with no signifcant extras (a la the Mega Man Legacy Collections), no more than touch-ups rather than meaningful improvements, a puzzling lack of SMG2, and an anti-consumer limited edition run.

I want to be excited about this news, I really do. But I don't have unlimited money or time to throw at whatever Nintendo releases, whether it's yet another $60 port of a seven year old, $20 game (though Bowser's Fury might be worth it) or a barebones collection like this. Maybe my standards are too high for one of the most successful and profitable video game companies in the world.

@link3710 Selling them individually for $30 a game seems like a Nintendo move to me.

@ianl579 Nah, they're not too high. This is quite a bare bones year for Nintendo. And all the re-releases don't make it look any better.

Oh and I just realized. Super Mario Galaxy isn't even playable in portable mode (nice false advertising), if the game does require split joy-cons. That was the big selling point... sighs.

EDIT:
Also... I won't be surprised if it turns out digital copies no longer work after March. They definitely don't want these games out there for long.

@link3710 The more I hear about this collection, the more disappointed I get... and I was already disappointed. I am not entirely sure why Nintendo are so keen on being this limited or why they are being so lazy with this. This year has been crap for Nintendo (3 new games, everything else is a port), and 2021 is already starting strong with... another Wii U port and nothing else really confirmed from first party.

I know Covid is a factor, but it seems that Nintendo are affected perhaps too much in comparison to all the other companies.

Signature, huh? Where do I sign?

Just gonna say I really loved and am grateful for everything Nintendo gave us in the Mario Direct today. With that being said, I still love to speculate about everything all the time so here it is:

I think there will be a decent length Nintendo Direct Mini dropped sometime later this month. It will have some big direct sized announcements but just not enough content to make it long enough since they've already shared a lot with Mario 35th and the partner showcases. Also they really seem to like shadow dropping presentations in the uncertain times so they'd probably wanna stick with that. Announcements would include more info on Pikmin 3, Bravely Default, 3D World+, and maybe No More Heroes 3 or Bayonetta, the next smash character reveal, the usual random unexpected Nintendo dlc (probably for Clubhouse games and/or Paper Mario) and finally one or two new first party games for November and/or December. They have to have something coming out in these months since everything announced today was either September or October, and they even pushed 3D World, which is surely done with development by now, to 2021 to space out Mario releases and put something else in there. If I had to guess, we'd get Skyward Sword HD and a new 2D Metoid this holiday.

Given the collection is now confirmed to be real, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo does the same next year for Zelda. Limited time Zelda collection featuring Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and Skyward Sword (Skyward Sword requiring Joy-Cons) meanwhile Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD get ported from Wii U.

@MS7000 Maybe the fact that they were lazy with it is the reason why it's limited.

@Noble_Haltmann I'd assume it's fair to guess that Bravely Default II and NMH 3 have both been delayed into Q2 2021 or later at this point.

Oh, and per my usual guesses (since... somehow I got three right in a row), it's time for my usual prediction. The next Nintendo Direct will be April 8th, 2021. It'll be a mini direct, featuring mostly 3rd party titles, Bravely Default II, No More Heroes III, SMT and announcing 1 new first party title, Mario Golf: Whatever.
