Yeah I think we'll definitely see another Partner Showcase this month, as well as an Indie World presentation.

In September I think they'll reveal the big holiday game via Twitter and then they'll have a Sakurai livestream that'll reveal Fighter Pack 7.

I don't expect a big Direct at all this year.

Also, I think it's more and more likely that September has no big game, and that Bravely Default II has been delayed to 2021.

The Switch is about 2x as powerful than the Wii U. But I was actually talking about the resolution. DKC: Tropical Freeze looked absolutely stunning in 1080p. But with Pikmin 3 I can't see any difference.

It's definitely not 2x as powerful.

There are some parts of the specs that are 2x the Wii U. Like it has twice as much RAM, and reads from RAM about twice as fast. The GPU improvement is smaller though and the CPU improvement is much smaller (though hard to directly compare between different CPUs)

@Dezzy
They Switch can at least render the same games at double the resolution (see DKC: Tropical Freeze).

@Dezzy Is more than double the CPU, is the GPU, that stayed close the same.
Why? Suposely to avoid overheat and battery draining.

@dionysos283 @sixrings

1080p is about double the total pixel count of 720p, but not necessarily "double the resolution". People usually would mean doubling to 1440p to double the resolution.

The CPU is definitely not twice as powerful though, so it's just gonna depend on whether the game in question is either CPU or GPU bound (meaning which one is the limiting factor in performance)

Something like Breath of the Wild for example is going to be far more CPU reliant than something like Donkey Kong.

given we got the second twitter drop of a major first party game from Nintendo with Pikmin 3 Deluxe. I'm guessing Nintendo's year is pretty fubar because of COVID and Nintendo's own weirdly inept means of managing the public messaging, were just gonna get these out of the blue surprises.

I agree. Hopefully we'll see DOOM Eternal announced in the next Partner Showcase, whenever that might be.

To be perfectly honest, I've given up on expecting anything meaningful from Nintendo this year, and I am not convinced 2021 will be any better. The only thing exciting me about 2021 so far is SMT (thanks Atlus).

Maybe a mini direct or partner showcase aling with a nindie direct, but anything meaningful? Nope.

Signature, huh? Where do I sign?

Nintendo's made it clear by now that there won't be a major Direct any time soon. They will still have some major game for the holidays, most likely that Mario collection.

@MS7000 I think people may end up being disappointed by 2021 also. Nintendo are going to be pretty delayed in the development of their games and seeing as how they avoid using crunch, it could be a good while before things return to normal for them.

Since Super Nintendo World was supposed to open this year I get the impression that Nintendo wanted to make Mario's 35th Anniversary a huge deal with the park, the new Lego line, and the big remasters. They've probably discussed delaying the remasters to next year to still launch with the park, but with no other alternative (since I don't believe BOTW2 was supposed to be this year's holiday title) they're in a scramble, and that's why they've been so silent. Also, if you told me September 2019's Direct would be the last big one for a year or more, I wouldn't have believed you. It's unprecedented, even during the Wii U days.

I dunno if anyone posted this supposed "leak" from 4chan, but it sounded vaguely plausible:

(start post)

There's going to be a Direct on 17th of August.
NOTE: I wanna make it clear that I don't have all the details. I don't know whether if this a Mini or a Regular Direct as I've only been made aware of a FEW games that will appear, so anticipated games like Bayonetta 3, Pikmin, or the Rumored Mario Collection were never mentioned to me so I don't know if they'll appear in this Direct or not.

>Sports Story by Sidebar Games will get a trailer, whether or not it gets a release date, you'll have to find out.
>A new game by Square Enix that will release exclusively for the Switch will be shown. It is called "Zatara" No further information on that.
>A seemingly new Nintendo IP co-developed by Nintendo EAD and Frontier Developments is being revealed. The most information I have on this game is that it involves amusement parks. No confirmed release date.
>Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is being ported over to Nintendo Switch and release the same day on the Eshop.
>Super Mario 3D World will be getting a deluxe port released, new content will include new levels tied to a bonus story. There are suppose to be new character though I have no information who the character or characters may be.
> Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition will get a trailer and an August release window.
>Challenger Pack 7 for Smash Bros Ultimate, will be teased, the most I can give is that it's not a 1st party character.
>The sequel to Breath of Wild will make an appearance as a trailer, Zelda is apparently playable, the most I have for the release date is May 2021 but it may be subject to change.
> A Metriod spinoff is being revealed, no Metroid 4 announcements or updates looks like.
>Nintendo Switch Online isn't adding any new library of games but something that seems like a new reward system that involves missions.

(end post)

The only reason I can think of to explain why there might still be a Direct is because they're maybe waiting for some of the trailers to be finished, so they just threw out Pikmin ahead of time because they knew people wouldn't want to keep waiting for too long.

Can we possibly get federation force on switch with local wireless play?

4chan has got quite a few predictions correct over the years. You can't just automatically dismiss everything on there.

Also worth pointing out, something that massively adds to the likelihood of this being true: if aligns perfectly with that "schedule" that Jeff Grubb posted about August. He put Nintendo in a slot between 11th and 22nd August.

Not to mention that an anonymous 4chan troll (or even someone with actual connections to Nintendo) could very easily throw a bunch of garbage in with real information to mess with people.

It would be kinda ironic if their big holiday titles was the Mario collection; a collection of ports to top it all off
