Metroid Dread is currently the best-selling Metroid game and Yoshio Sakamoto is still employed at Nintendo. 2D (and 3D) Metroid games aren't ending anytime soon.
While examples themselves haven't really appeared yet, the general rumour turned out to be true. We're in September and the 1st party lineup for 2025 is:
January - DKC Returns HD
March - XCX Definitive Edition
July - Pokemon Friends (if you count that)
October - Pokemon Legends Z-A
TBA - Metroid Prime 4
So in the end Nintendo did really rely on 3rd party support for Switch 1 this year.
If general Direct happens, I hope that Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is present with the single player demo shadow drop. The beta last weekend was so amazing.
Switch Force (hate that i have to watch him now since he's reliable now rofl) said that there will be three "7 games".
Final Fantasy
007
Call Of Duty
Dragon Quest
Resident Evil
Ace Attorney
Yakuza
Those seem most likely to me but it will be interesting to see
@Blooper987 If it's a general direct, final fantasy 7 is guaranteed. It needs a release date.
007 already has a March 2026 Switch release date so I don't know why it would be in this direct, but I suppose it might be.
I'm guessing Civ 7 DLC or somesuch.
Disgaea 7 Complete is coming soon so that is at least a small possibility, although that would be a quick mention at most.
I kind of agree Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is a decent chance. Microsoft is legally required to bring some call of duty to Switch 2 and people were a little surprised that wasn't a day 1 title.
@FishyS Switch 2 is the only platform for 007 First Light which doesn't have digital preorders live. It is very Nintendo-like to withhold preorders only to announce them going live "shortly after this presentation" during a Direct.
i dunno how to put spoilers but seems like Switch Force is teasing a certain series as one of the three "7 games"
Yeah, there is some chatter about that above in this thread. Considering there are 3 already announced Switch 2 games with 7 in their names, this rumor doesn't really spoil anything. Sure, the leak could be talking about different games with 7 in their name, but it's all guesses from us.
For future reference, to make a spoiler , start with [spoiler] and then end it with the same thing except /spoiler inside brackets instead of spoiler. You can also see the code by quoting someone who used a spoiler.
@FishyS ok cool I’ll put it in a spoiler then, he said not a soul has gotten the combo right and some other people I saw are taking it as a hint towards a possible SoulSalibur 7. With SoulCalibur 2 being on GCN nso now and Nintendo and Bandai namco having such a close relationship wouldn’t surprise me if it came out as a timed exclusive or a version with extra content (like link in SC2.
@PLATINUM7 ah didn’t see the replies! Thank you, for someone reason Twitter hid them from me when I was looking through his tweets :/ Anyways I doubt it’ll happen but I’m praying for Ace Attorney 7, it’s been so long since an actual new game in the series and we’re pretty much all caught up on the remakes so it’s gotta happen soon right?
I really dislike the "I have a secret" dance these people play. Obviously they're playing the algorithm and gaming the engagement but still. It always seems a bit childish and unprofessional
If you have insider information either:
1. Publish it
2. Keep it quiet
Some playlists: Top All Time Songs, Top Last Year
An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions

I agree they are often annoying, but the point of the dance is to get clicks. Although publishing it in a straightforward manner would also get clicks, that's a very good way for them to lose their sources for next time so it would be a loss for them overall.
My prediction for the Direct is that it'll either be 15-20 minutes longer than the typical general Direct for Mario 40th stuff, or that we get an announcement for a Mario 40th Direct for the following day.
What do we think will be the opener? I could see it being Prime 4 release date, or maybe a Kirby Air Riders character reveal trailer?
@PikminMarioKirby I think Prime 4 has a good chance of being the opener.
It's had a slot at the end and a slot in the middle so yeah let's have it at the start!
As for how long it's going to be, it's tricky especially when you throw in any 40th anniversary stuff.
But I think it's worth noting that they may not have 15 mins worth of content like they had in 2020. Of, if they do, they'll be a lot snappier with it this time.
I could see it being in the middle of the presentation, it would be nice if Miyamoto came out to do it as this might be his last one at the company.
And if I were to guess what we'll get, I'd probably go for Mario Wonder Switch 2 edition, some merch, news about the movie, maybe something like Super Mario Galaxy 2 for Switch 1 and if we're lucky a teaser for the next 3D Mario and I think if they were to do that, they'd put it at the end.
@Nintoz
I know I'm going to get flak for this but while I think Super Mario Bros. Wonder was a slight step in the right direction for 2D Mario, I just didn't consider it good enough. And I while I can definitely see them pumping out a 'Switch 2' edition, I have my doubts they will include anything significant to justify its existence.
Ain't no way in heck are they going to show off the new 3D Mario, maybe they'll tease the next Mario movie (which I dread), but we won't hear of the new 3D Mario until mid-next year at the very least. Also, we ain't going to see Super Mario Galaxy 2 again until they release it on a NSO Wii service, and even then it'll be late in the cycle if ever.
