when everything is ww/tp HD, nothing is ww/tp hd" lol. Both of these have been rumored so long at this point, it's like themes. They're just not happening. I own both on gc/wii/wii u. So im set anyway.
I mean, Nintendo will definitely re-release 1 or both games again in some way or form, perhaps on Switch 2 for some schedule-filling or conceivably on some version of NSO. I personally would flip a coin of whether we simply get straight ports of them or if there is some type of remaster. And I wouldn't necessarily expect them to come as a pair.
I think if there's any incoming 1st party shadow drops at the Game Awards it'll be Prime 2 or a bundle of Prime 2+3 (pairing ports/remaster with a proper Prime 4 reveal). But even then, Indigo Disk DLC release date makes me question that. September for 1st party was:
Teal Mask DLC
Physical release of Pikmin 1+2 (digital was in June)
Splatoon 3 Drizzle Season 2023
A bunch of NSO additions
So December could be similar:
Indigo Disk DLC
Splatoon 3 Chill Season 2023
A bunch of NSO additions
It would fit having Pokemon DLC being the big release of the month again but on the other hand you have the question of what the state of the DLC would be in.
Probably more trailers for indie games that will be available on Switch. Little to no first party stuff. Bayonetta Origins and Fire Emblem Engage DLC were the height of Nintendo stuffs at last year's TGA.
@NintendoByNature
Just to be clear, I was mocking the kinds of speculation we tend to see on places like YouTube. I mean, Wind Waker HD does make sense for sure, it has been speculated to death in large part because it's very obvious. But it has also been speculated to death
I feel like Metroid Prime 2 is kinda in the same category.....

Throwing my own hat into the ring, I'm firmly in the camp that we're going to get a Nintendo announcement at TGA. I know that sounds like a pretty baseless claim to make (or rather based off of rumours with questionable legitimacy) but Nintendo's had at least something to show at almost every TGA since 2017:
2017: Bayonetta 3, Bayonetta 1+2 Switch ports and BOTW DLC
2018: Joker in Smash
2019: Bravely Default II (shown as a timed Switch exclusive)
2020: Sephiroth in Smash
2021: N/A
2022: Bayonetta Origins and Fire Emblem Engage DLC
2017 was also the year that BOTW won Game of the Year (with Mario Odyssey also being nominated for the award) which could've been a contributing factor to Nintendo's higher-than-average showing that year in terms of announcements. The only other year with more than one announcement was 2022....which just so happened to be the year Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was nominated for GOTY.
The point I'm trying to make is that there seems to be a pattern building where, if a Nintendo game is in the running for GOTY, there's a much higher likelihood that a larger-scale announcement will happen at TGA (makes sense when you consider how many Nintendo fans would already be tuning in to see if said game manages to actually win) and when a ton of people are convinced TOTK is going to take home the crown this year? Now seems like the perfect time to go big or go home if you ask me.
As for what they could show off, my personal theory would be Pikmin 4 DLC near the start of the show (TGA has a track record of showing off DLC for Nintendo games and new stuff for Pikmin 4 would be one that'd get a lot of people excited) and shadow-dropped ports of Wind Waker/Twilight Princess at the end (would be the perfect capstone to a potential TOTK win if it were to happen and it's probably the last duo of Wii U ports that people have been clamouring for for the last long while).

@nitrolink I'm gonna be completely honest: I don't think we're getting another one until the Switch 2 is announced/released. Maaaaaaaybe one at the start of next year before the expected February Direct but with how many devs have gone on record stating how difficult it can be to bring titles to Switch due to the horrid eShop browsing experience hindering a game's reach, I imagine Nintendo will most likely be stocking up a bunch of the more promising devs for the Switch 2's first year. Could be entirely wrong though XD

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that we won't be seeing anything from Nintendo at TGS this year. We haven't for years, and I seriously doubt they'd do something this year, especially when they have nothing big left to show until the next big console.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
I'm seeing a lot of talk about the game awards and I'm now just realizing how crazy of a year it has been for gaming. TOTK, Street Fighter 6, Final Fantasy XVI, Baldur's Gate 3, Spider-Man 2, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Hogwarts Legacy, Mario Bros. Wonder, Dead Space Remake, Diablo IV, Starfield, Pikmin 4, Fire Emblem Engage...I feel like there's probably even more big games that I forgot to mention.
I really wonder what the GOTY nominations will be 🤔
@Vortexeo Plus a few other games like Sea of Stars, Metroid Prime remastered, and even Cocoon which were critically acclaimed and rated higher than Spiderman 2 on metacritic. It's possible Mario RPG will be ranked high as well, but we don't know yet.
Baldur's Gate 3 and TotK will definitely be nominations. Spider-Man 2 likely will too just because it's a usual suspect. Out of the others? I have no clue. Mario Wonder in many metrics should be on the list but it's not the type of game which usually wins and they might not want multiple Nintendo games nominated. As you said, there are a ton of huge games this year.
Although they weren't nearly as highly rated so not GotY material, we got games like Sonic Superstars and Mortal Kombat 1 too. It's kind of shocking how many franchises had really major entries people have been waiting for for ages.
@FishyS Dude you're right, I forgot to mention those as well! It would be pretty amusing if Nintendo managed to have 2 GOTY nominations this year with so much competition lol. I won't count the possibility out entirely though because they did have 2 nominations in 2017
@Vortexeo There have been so many major games this year, I'm really curious about the 'most anticipated for 2024' category just because it doesn't seem like there is much left. 😆 There is FInal Fantasy 7 part 2 next year. And... I think a star wars game. 🤔 And.... Peach game? 😝 I recall the most anticipated category nomination list actually being kind of competitive last year but this year I can't even think of a full set of nominations.
@Vortexeo
I don't even like AAA games like that.
Games Award is just a straight insult for me since the winner is (almost) always the disgusting rated 18+ AAA games.
Peoples said most anticipated games this, most anticipated games that, but for me the anticipated games are the unpopular / underrated kids games.
I don't care the next Zelda games.
I don't care ff 7 stuffs.
I don't care next smash bros games.
I don't care spiderman stuffs.
I extremely hate and condemn every single upcoming rated 18+ games.
I hate Just Dance games with awful licensed songs.
I hate soccer games.
Those GOTY material for other people's are direct insult for me.
Whoever win in Game Award, I will keep getting upset.
Game Award is should never exist.
@FishyS LOL I actually had to look up what games were announced for next year so far because I couldn't think of any beyond what you mentioned 😅
I forgot the Persona 3 Remake was releasing next year maybe that might be on there? 🤔 It also looks like Tekken 8 is slotted for January next year which I'd imagine is a pretty big one.
@Anti-Matter That is fair! I don't usually take the game awards too seriously. I just think it's a fun way to reflect on the past year of video games with everyone
