I think it's tomorrow, but who knows. Japan is way ahead of us so, if it drops at 6pm their time tomorrow we may get it early morning. I was hoping it would drop tonight but even if it did, it would probably be too late to bother.

@JaxonH That seems strange though, since the techs for the eShop in the US will probably be off for Thanksgiving. I can't recall a single game or patch ever releasing in the states on Thanksgiving. 🤔

I remember the last update happened before midnight for me, so...

@Joeynator3000 Yeah, plus the fact that there likely won't be anyone at the US branch of Nintendo to add the patch tomorrow as I already mentioned in my previous post.

Just saw! I was playing the game, randomly checked for an update and it started downloading.

Here. We. GO!!!

...I'll probably fight Risen Teo and Kushala by myself later, just wanted to use followers for those quests just to speed things up for my videos. xD

I did fight Chaotic by myself, though.

I'm up to MR52, and on a serious roll.

Last hunt was Tigrex. Got not one, but two mantles. One reward, the other pilfered. Quest before was Lunagaron. You guessed it- mantle. Quest before that was Furious Rajang. Got his sparkly rare drop, whatever it was. Quest before that, Chaotic Gore. Got his sparkly plate drop needed for the Redirection +2 gem.

Hunts before that included regular Gore Magala (mantle), Espinas (mantle), Astalos (mantle), Seregios (nothing special), Magnamalo (MR Orb) and Mizutsune (mantle). In addition to at least 4 Large Wyvern gems from various hunts.

There's probably even more I'm forgetting. Ever since I started playing again yesterday they've been rolling in non stop. I couldn't even believe my luck. Getting one here and there happens. But this? This is something else entirely. It's like the game said, "you've been away for a while, here, let me coax you until staying" and just made it rain.

Anyways, this update is fantastic. Can't fight the Risens yet cause I'm nowhere near the MR I need, but Chaotic Gore was excellent, as expected, and unlocking Furious Rajang right after was... wow. Super glad I upgraded my armor beforehand, cause my goodness.

Been hitting the Follower Quests since yesterday knocking them all out to unlock everyone. It's SO. GOOD. that we can take Followers on any hunts now. Chaotic and that Furious Urgent were so much more fun with them around. I love the banter too. "You wanna take a picture of me?" and "oh, I see you're a hunter and a photographer" or "my back's killing me... just kidding. I'm not that old". It's all good stuff.

On my final 3 star Follower Quest. After that it's on to 4 and 5 star, then the Support Surveys 1-6 star, then aaaall the normal and Event quests I haven't played (and there's a ton), and then, finally, the Anomoly Quests A1-A5, followed by the Investigations, which will need to rank aaaall the way up to 200 (and eventually 300 since we know it's coming).

No biggie. That's only like, what, another 2,000 hours playtime? Ya, I totally got this.

...Alright followers, let's see how much you help during an afflicted quest that also includes an Apex monster and an Elder Dragon. >.>

Also...why didn't they bring back the other Apex monsters here? Why stop at Arzuros and Rathian? >.<

EDIT: Yeah this is MUCH better...doing multi-monster anomaly hunts was stressful since I always ended up finishing 50 minute quests with just a minute or two left. Especially when it's a high level...just tried an level 85-ish (I can't remember, lol) Afflicted Espinas quest that had Apex Rathian and Valstrax and finished it in about 30 minutes.

FYI, they did add more Apex. Both Apex Mizutsune and Apex Rathalos.

Presumably, Apex Diablos and Apex Zinogre will be added in Title Update 5.

Seregios Lens and Shagaru Magala mantle, in the same hunt! And a Gore Magala mantle 3 hunts ago! I went a few hunts without anything and thought my streak was over. Got FOUR Magnamalo orbs and no mantle on a double Magnamalo quest. Was like yup, desire sensor back in action.

But it seems the luck continues. I am genuinely flabbergasted at how many good drops I'm getting. It's unprecedented. And it's exciting because it opens up so many possibilities.

Anyways, finally unlocked Fugen and Galleus, the last of the Followers. Got an award for unlocking everyone.

And have officially done every Follower Quest. Now it's onwards to the support surveys. And a full roster of Followers to help lead the way.

Personally, I love Galleus and Fugen together. I also love Arlow and Galleus. Rhondine and Fioraynne pair well, Hinoa and Minoto pair well, Jae and Luchika pair well, and Utsushi and Jae pair well. The whole "mentor/trainee" dynamic plays out really well.

But I really have an affinity for Arlow. He's so good. Though I must admit, I really, genuinely, truly do love them all. Even Jae surprised me. It's the banter. Gotta crank those voice lines to 100% in the menu for full effect.

@JaxonH Dataminers uncovered that rare drop-rates have been increased by 400-500% from the update and might not have been intentional. If unintended Capcom will likely patch that out soon.

Ya, that doesn't sound intentional. Especially since the rates are the same in the menu. If it was intentional they'd change it in there.

Unless...

Unless they wanted to make people think they're still just as rare so they feel just as exciting, but secretly make them easier to get so people get that dopamine rush more. That's some 4D chess maneuvering, but I could see it.

Better stock up now while the getting is good! They could patch it out at any second.

You got a link to anything about that data mine? I wanna read up on it.

...I'm so glad anomaly quest levels increase faster now, especially low leveled quests. Also yeah, Followers may not do too much damage, but it's enough to make multi-hunt quests less stressful and I can deal with most of them much faster.

Also, Luchika sucks. lol

@JaxonH I'll see if I can find it, the link was in a Youtube video I watched and has subsequently been buried from the dozens of Update 3 videos I watched in the past 24 hours. 🤣

It's a channel that focuses on Monster Hunter and had interviews with the devs so I'm fairly confident the info was legit, but I really should have bookmarked that link. 😅

@Joeynator3000 Luchika is crazy good, but only with Heavy Bowgun. Every other weapon she has she sucks SO badly with. 🤣

@TowaHerschel7 I just left her with her default weapon, which is the heavy bowgun...but she faints way too much, lol.

@Joeynator3000 Well, what does your other character have equiped? You need a character with better defense to either draw aggro or be a meat shield for her. Fiorayne is good choice with longsword to continually draw aggro and she also counters monsters a ridiculous amount of the time with that weapon, also any defensive character with a lance is great at keeping attention off of Luchika.
