@iLikeUrAttitude if EA made Zelda there would of been multiple editions at launch so you can prove you're more of a fan by getting a plastic statue. And they definitely would of sold a day one season pass for half the price of the game with no details about what it contains.
Good job Nintendo didn't do that... Oh
But seriously. I'd like a more traditional Zelda again next. Breath of the wild didn't do anything for me personally.
I would like a better story, dungeons with enemies in, areas that are inaccessible until I get the next item (hookshot etc) and just a general feeling that I'm saving the world.
In breath of the wild I was a amnesiac with a iPad that people wanted to do busy work for them, oh and save the world, eventually, if I wanted to, it didn't really feel like the world was in that much danger. All the interesting stuff that sounded like a good video game happened 100 years ago
The next game needs to be a mix of BotW-style and Ocarina of Time/MM/WW/TP/SS style:
Keep the open world, paragliding, and climbing.
Reduce the world size up to one half of that of BotW, and make it much more dense in things to do and see. Make an excellent story with multifaceted and good characters.
Bring back the classic dungeon style of OoT/MM/etc. but also have some locations in the style of Hyrule Castle from BotW.
Make references and tie in to Zelda lore.
Introduce a more linear approach, even something as linear as you have to tackle dungeons or objectives in a certain order and you cannot fight the final boss until you do all the previous events. The novelty of doing anything in any order in BotW quickly wore off when I realized the game's story, progression, and complexity suffered for it.
@TheLZdragon Yeah basically. BotW is a new foundation, and it has lots of ways it can be improved. Using the same engine but adding aspects like more complex dungeons and better story and characters would make it an excellent game. An MM style sequel could potentially have the game release by 2020.
@Grumblevolcano I know you're joking, but you make a very good point. MM and SS both required people to buy new accessory hardware to experience the game. Potentially Nintendo could make the next Zelda require some accessory?
@shadow-wolf The most natural extension would probably be analog triggers for pro controller and Joy-cons, maybe release them around the same time as Smash and then have them usable in other games too (e.g. SS wasn't the first use of Wii Motion Plus).
I like the idea of pulling a Majora's Mask and getting a radically different game out of what's basically the same engine. Obviously, they can't do exactly the same trick twice, but some sort of time travel mechanic could work, or something really out there like the wall-shuffling mechanic of A Link Between Worlds.
Whatever they do, it needs proper dungeons. With most of the shrines being either one-shot puzzles, empty, or the same combat trial repeated over the game was very short on this element. Even the divine beasts were a bit formulaic and on the short side. I'd think they could sweep that away and have ten Hyrule Castle-style areas instead, because that was the one indoor part of the game that really felt up to the standards of the outdoor areas.
The combat mechanics could use a bit of tweaking to make you a bit more resilient when starting out, but not practically invincible once you've got all the best gear. As it stands, too many enemys can one-hit-kill you when you're beginning the game, while even the most powerful are limited to a quarter heart once you've got your armour maxed out, and they'll only manage to do that if you've run out of Daruk's protection.
I don't think the weapon durability system needs that much of a change though. Once I'd learned out to expand the inventory, farm good weapons and acquire the Master Sword it stopped bothering me. Maybe making metal weapons last a lot longer would be a good idea, so you don't have to engage in too much farming in the early game, but it seems second nature now that you wouldn't go into a big fight with a stick or club and expect it to last the duration.
1. Have real dungeons with different settings. At the end of the dungeon have a nice boss. The bosses should be different and not even similar like the Ganons in BotW.
2. Have some open world bosses just like BotW.
3. Way to repair items.
Well that is it!
Also I would like them to keep the variety of landscapes.
