So I guess we're getting this game on Nintendo Switch! I really enjoyed it when I was younger on the Wii so hopefully it's just as good.

The game will apparently be available on July 27th in the UK, but it doesn't seem to have any noticeable upgrades as far as I can tell.
What do you all think about this? Did you enjoy the original or have you never heard of it?

@Kimyonaakuma
Yes, i do.
I have the Wii version.
Hopefully the USA version also available as well, with HD Remake, Better 3D Polygons for furnitures and Trees, More convenient gameplay control during Handheld & Console mode, etc.
I want Miis return as well.

List of games anywhere? And is this indeed a straight port of the Wii original?

@toiletduck
Not really.
I saw some Animals from the trailer, something that Never before on Wii version.
I guess it will be HD Remake with some New contents not from Wii version.

I have this on Wii too and my lil girl like playing it. I enjoyed it too.

But if you said "but it doesn't seem to have any noticeable upgrades as far as I can tell" I am not sure if I will pay full price for it if it comes out on Switch.

My Brain, eyes, and fingers are not team player. They don't coordinate with each other.

This is actually really sick, I loved the Wii Ski games but I never knew there was a sequel. I really hope the slopes have secrets routes and tricks to the same degree. And the games graphics are Miis, so a polishing them up wouldn't do much.

Just don't charge $60. That would have been a good price if they had released all three games as a collection, but very few people are going to pay full price for this. I would think $30 is fair since the Wii disc isn't rare or anything, but $40 is likely where it will land.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

The We Ski (Family Ski & Snowboard) games are made by the same developer as Go Vacation.
One part of the game, the Snow Resort is almost like We Ski games + more.

@Haru17 The slopes have a few secret routes with achievements for finding them! 😉

@Matthew010 Egggggcellent.

@Anti-Matter Uh, We Ski & Snowboard had two mountains, both of them new.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

Matthew010

@Anti-Matter I've got stuck in the cave, more specifically the lava section.

@Anti-Matter I hope the game looks better but the trailer hasn't shown many improvements yet, but that should make it easier for them to make it 1080p!
I'm not sure what they will do with the controls because a Wii Remote and Nunchuck were used so much! Hopefully they'll add controls for one Joy Con for easy multiplayer

@UnknownReader I haven't noticed any improvements but I also haven't played the game since it released, and my memories as a 10 year old are different to how I remember things now However it really does look the same as I remember it, except that the trailer has a lot of animals which I don't recognise...

@Haru17 Go Vacation was awesome! It has different themed areas with different things to find and collect and there were lots of different minigames. They were either great or a disaster but they used the Wii Remote in some great ways! Quite a few minigames had multiple difficulty levels and courses to try so that's cool too.
To be honest I usually just went around the areas in different vehicles doing pointless things or decorating the house that you can unlock, I still enjoyed it anyway
I think this will be a cheap(ish) port, the development costs shouldn't be very high and they are guaranteed to make their money back if they release a good local multiplayer game during the summer.

@Anti-Matter
Thanks for pointing out the details in the trailer.
I just wanted to point out how one part of Go Vacation is very similar to We Ski / Family Ski.
Unless someone's making a We Ski / Family Ski clone, Go Vacation is the closest you'll get.

@Aozz101x At least they are adding something new! The photo mode explains all of the animals in the trailer as well.

Thanks for sharing!

@Kimyonaakuma I know I will still get it just cos my lil girl likes it. But price wise, I don't mind $39.99 (not nintendo standard $59.99 price tag) thou for an old game, $29.99 feels more enticing.

Far as I am concerned, this is a welcome addition to the Switch game library. I have it on the Wii and I've always really enjoyed it. Instead of repeating what I've already said in the article about this game's announcement, I'll just copy/paste the comment I made there into this comment here:
(some people were comparing it to/saying it's inferior to Wii Sports Resort, and this was my response to that)

I think there's quite a few people here that are wearing their subjective, rosy-tinted Wii Sports Resorts glasses...

Entertaining as that game was, it was most definitely not better looking than this game. Far more detail in the surroundings, characters with actual limbs and FAR more customization options, and instead of just separate mini-games with no connection whatsoever, this game offers over 50(!) mini-games which take place on an island group that you can travel around, instead of just selecting events.

And although it's true that it is a bit of a mixed bag, with some games being decidedly simple and short, there's still WAY more on offer here than in Wii Sports Resort, so if you liked Sports Resort, and love playing games with family and friends, you could do far worse than buying this one.

Bit of extra info for the interested:
This game is more or less the spiritual successor to the Wii games We Ski and We Ski & Snowboard, so it's actually one from a series of games, all of which are actually quite fun to play.
EDIT:
Original trailer, for comparison's sake (also shows quite a few more games than the new trailer):

And here's a good review from a parent and his kid, good for parents who are considering this game:
And one other review, just to have a second opinion from a predominantly single player, and slightly more critical perspective:

'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'

@Anti-Matter Miis are technically in the Switch. They just aren't really used for much. I wish Nintendo had evolved that idea, rather than abandoning it.
