@FX102A Good shout on Horace. I really liked the storytelling and how it felt like a subversive Seventies children’s television show from the UK. But I really didn’t like the 8-bit home computer-style collectathon gameplay. I played a few hours and then dropped it hard. I am never going back to that game.
Right at this moment I reckon I've dropped Banjo-Kazooie.
That final boss fight - I just give up. It's where the game ceases to be fun, and it's also where the game shows its age the most - the terrible camera angles, the poor flying mechanics, the delayed response to controls, it's aged incredibly badly.
It's such a shame as up until this point, you somewhat forgive the aged mechanics popping up here and there. But that final fight showcases it all in one. A great game let down by its ending.
I owned it and played it for hours back when it was new, but I never actually finished the game. I endeavoured to do that tonight, but it's just not going to happen.
F*** it.
Finally did it. Glad to close that chapter after all these years. All notes, jiggies and honeycomb pieces also collected.
@Barbiegurl777 I dropped the game as a kid as well, though that was for a different reason - I never made it further than Mad Monster Mansion. Some of the jiggies were too hard for me to get back then, as well! I did enjoy the game otherwise, and I actually 100%'d the game a few years ago.
Yes, Banjo-Kazooie's on the Switch, but you need NSO + expansion pack, which has that and other N64 games. Unfortunately, it's too expensive for what it is...I'm currently holding off on getting it. Maybe when they add GameCube and GBA games to it or something.

Favorite game: Super Mario 3D World
AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
@Barbiegurl777 Yeah. I found myself playing Mario Kart online, backing up my save data, and playing the SNES games with my online sub. I even went ahead and got the Mario Kart and Animal Crossing DLCs on their own instead of the online expansion, so I'd have them for good.
Yeah, in Banjo-Kazooie, those gold puzzle pieces (or jiggies, as they're called in the game) are what's needed to unlock more worlds. Getting musical notes is necessary too, they let you go further into Grunty's lair.

@Tendo64 The final boss in B-K is indeed, unnecessarily brutal. The game doesn't control well anyway, so Gruntilda's fireball spam is a nightmare to deal with.
Currently Playing: Yakuza 0: Director's Cut (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
I dropped three Gamecube games (Rocket Power, Megaman Network Transmission, Finding Nemo) for being almost unplayable at some level. I was stuck at mission that I could never able to clear due to very terrible control.
@Barbiegurl777 I love it. It's actually an enhanced version of Mario Kart 8, with stuff like double items, an ultra mini turbo, and a much better battle mode. Also, it seems that it has a larger online player base compared to the Wii U original, which makes sense since it's on the Switch. I like the new DLC courses, as well. So yeah, I would recommend getting it and the DLC (which is called the Booster Course Pass). Would be cool for us to play each other if you get it too.
Edit: May as well say what game I dropped. Ok, it's not recent, but for me, there's no better example than Paper Mario: Sticker Star. That sticker gimmick just got progressively worse as the game went on...I HATED how you can only attack if you have any jump/hammer stickers on you. Doesn't help that every sticker can only be used once, either...I gave up sometime after the second boss.
@Barbiegurl777 as MarioLover said before, definetley get 8 Deluxe. Basically everyone with a Switch has it, copius amounts of content, and soon 40 more tracks with DLC!
I always drop JRPGs. I rarely ever finish them. They're too long. Too stretched out. Too much grinding. Too many random battles. Or the characters and story are completely average and forgettable. I just dropped FF13 for the second time and I'm not sure I can ever finish it. I dropped it on PS3 when it first came out right at Chapter 11 and wound up doing the same on PC. It's not a hard game, but it just drags on far too long.
I dropped DQ11 when it first came out, Persona 4 Golden twice, Person 3 twice, Tales of Arise, Tales of Abyss, Suikoden Tierkries, and just countless other ones over many consoles. I've finished very few JRPGs in my life and I consider it a huge feat when I do.
@ivory_soul Well that makes two of us. I'd get some decent progress in when I first play a JRPG, and just suddenly, I'd start taking a massive hiatus from them. The typical length of those games are basically the reason why...many RPGs are like 1,000 hours long, and I have so many of them in my backlog! I tried to really get into them, but it seems like it's mostly not working out. I think I'm close to beating Xenoblade Chronicles 2 though, and yeah, that would be a huge feat for me as well.

I've dropped all metroidvanias I own (Steamworld Dig 1 and 2, Guacamelee 1 and 2, Iconoclasts, Hollow Knight). I got back into gaming two years ago after a 15-year hiatus and had to rediscover what type of games I liked. I thought these metroidvanias looked really cool, so I bought them on sale. Turns out I like the platforming (already knew that) but HATE the backtracking and getting lost. I really tried to like these games, but I just don't.
It actually sort of...hurts...to drop this one. I enjoy the WH universe and mythos. I like strategy rpgs. I really like the soundtrack by Guillaume David. (I mean...just listen to it.) But I'm not having fun, sadly.
I dropped Sonic Generations PS3 for unable to play this genre. Dashing in very high speed with quick reaction just made me panic and uneasy. I think I will never get clicked with Sonic type games.
I dropped Jak & Daxter Trilogy PS3 for finding some glitches that made my character unable to move and I don't have genuine appeal with the series.
The Good Life, latest game from Swery, usually I like his awful games, I love Deadly Premonition 2 even though it is almost unplayable, but I cant get myself to play The Good Life. Its just... literally too bad, even for Swery Standards..
@thebottomtext You know what - it's been maybe 6 or 7 years since I play that game, but your description of Emerald Coast brought back some painful memories. I think I might've had the same issue you did!
It's a shame we never got a truly good Sonic game on the 3DS.
