@Magician
Had to drop Sonic Frontiers myself. Decided yesterday. I put in 30 hours to it, but I am just getting frustrated and playing to 'beat' it, not because I find it fun anymore. I find it stressful. First 2 Islands I got a decent amount of enjoyment to it, but as it goes on, you can tell they were running out of time and hurrying. It really starts to come apart. I hate the Cyber levels as Sonic controls so awful in them, and they are just devoid of being memorable or fun. The amount of collectables is too many for no reason and they don't even disappear from the map when you get them (sometimes). The map itself and navigation is awful. Everytime you place a marker on the map, you would think it would be easy to get there, but it often isn't, as the game insists on turning you around multiple times for whatever reason. Mostly because you get shoehorned into a weird 2d perspective for a fixed piece of the map, and even if you can see where you want to go in the horizon, it won't let you leave it. By the time you get your bearings you are nearly always going in the opposite direction to where you wanted. The levelling up system is nonsense when you can be at all the top levels by the 2nd island and so exp and seeds mean nothing anymore.

I must stress, I do actually like the game. The music, the open world WHEN IT WORKS (mostly just island 1 and 2), and the writing. It has a lot to like, but the frustrations are proving too much for me. I just can't get where I am meant to go because of the awful map. Games shouldn't be a stressful chore. I might pick up again when they do the 4th DLC patch with more playable characters, but at this point I have to admit defeat.

I clocked out at 30 hours and decided to try Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga instead. 30 mins of that was far more fun than I found in those 30 hours...

Speaking of dropping open world games, I think I've now dropped BotW for the 4th or 5th time. ๐Ÿ˜ I always want to like it but I always fall of the wagon after just a few hours.
Wander around lost for awhile, try to fight big monsters with nothing but bombs because literally every weapon I have ever obtained has already broken, do a completely random side quest and a couple shrines, get lost and break all my weapons again and then slowly stop playing.

I feel you. I've tried to get into the game several times myself, but always get really annoyed with the weapon breaking mechanic and the lack of urgency and direction that I end up dropping it after 5-or-so hours in. It's not a game for me and I yearn for the return of classic Zelda.

I really love the game but the lack of save points the first time you enter Phazon Mines is some bad game design, itโ€™s just a bit too hard for its own good in that area and one of the new enemies In the area too seems unkillable without outside knowledge

I'm going to be away from home for a while soon and I wanted to finish Xenoblade Chronicles X before I go (yes I started it over a year ago, shh), but I've got to the final boss and I... don't know if I can be bothered. It's practically impossible if you don't have a Skell, but you can't save once you're in the final area and if your Skell gets destroyed during the fight you can't leave and get it fixed even if you lose, you have to quit the game and go back to your last save. (I know you can stop it being destroyed by ejecting at the last minute but that's not always possible if you get knocked over for example.)

I'm a bit underlevelled and I'm sure I don't have the best possible gear because the equipment system and shops are so confusing and overwhelming, so my only chance of beating this boss right now is on easy mode, which you can only activate if you lose three times on normal difficulty, so that makes it take even longer if I have to quit and retry. I might come back to the game when I have more time and level up first by doing some side missions... but most of the best missions are really grindy to access because you have to be a particular level or have a certain affinity level with a character. For a game that clearly has a lot of thought and effort put into things like the character relationships and world building, it's really badly designed in some aspects.

Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music

Probably gonna move on from Sonic Heroes for the time being. I do think it is a good game, but im actively ruining my experience with it by forcing myself to play it. After the TTYD announcement I have been in a Paper Mario mood, plus ive played 7 Sonic games in a row. I'll come back to Heroes another time, but I need a break from sonic games for now.

I don't like the setting. I don't like the music. I don't care about these characters. And after an hour I was still bored. I guess I just don't get the hype? A serious letdown considering this is one of the highest-rated games the year it arrived.

I think Code;Realize - Guardian of Rebirth was better than this.

Splatoon 3.... I put 245 hours into it and now I'm burnt out and done.
The game doesn't update enough and when it does its not enough.
I want some NEW MODES like come on.....

Space and Games are similar. Space is endless and new stuff is out there waiting to be discovered. Games are always being made but the creativity is different from one game to another and so many more ideas still haven't been imagined or created yet. (That came out better than expected lol)

Had some hope for this considering the eldritch horror themed mystery. But...meh, not a scary story in the slightest, very Goosebumps-levels of "scary". Just go watch Scary Movie 3 instead. Same vibes but funnier.

Thinking about giving up on pathfinder as with any crpg based on a ttrpg you can't please us all

I like to play short encounters or long quest and return to a base town for what to do next but in pathfinder i'm finding i lose track of longer quests and side quests are too much of a rabbit hole plus your plunged right in as the big hero

I like in ttrpg form to have 3 hours in session time to side quests before gettikng a big quest but i guess the nature of video games is masin qyuests are the hook side quests are the lore

I think I will drop Baten Kaitos, because I do not feel like playing something sad lately. I remember watching an anime and in the lyrics of the opening was a good line. "Do not take their sorrow", or something like that and I think I really should not.

I have a platinum trophy in Bloodborne and yet, when I think about it and feel it, it does not give me strength. But when I think about Yoshi's Island for the Super Nintendo for example, this gives me a warm feeling and inner strength. So I think I should strive for warm and happy experiences in gaming and in my life.

Warhammer 40k Boltgun

A mild disappointment. The action feels good. But the constant crackling in the audio is aggravating for folks who play with headphones on. In addition to that, I think the soundtrack is too tame for the 40k universe. And the level design...kind of ho-hum as well.

Feels like an oversold yet underdelivered college project.

Go play Severed Steel instead.

I dropped Bud Spencer and Terence hill-Slap and beans 2,at least for now.Because one boss has a extremely frustrating gimmick.I have to hit the boss when he's facing opposite the playable character...which is something the boss rarely does.

Anybody else had this recently?

Animal Crossing actually has credits quite early on so I count that as 'finishing'. Personally I categorize games as:

1) finished and 100%
2) finished but not 100%
3) unfinished but technically didn't drop/might come back someday.
4) permanently dropped before credits.

I have to really like a game to 100% it and really dislike or be tired of a game to permanently drop it before finishing.

That said, there are a zillion games I play for a couple or a few hours and then stop playing before seeing the credits (my third category). It's maybe a bad habit, but there are soooo many games.... Plus with some games you kind of see everything there is to see after a few hours, so doing very mild iterations of the same thing for 30 more hours isn't always worth the time compared to getting a whole new experience in a different game.

Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness

This RPG is as generic as an average western AAA. Zero creativity with characters, dialogues, or events. It's as if a bot was asked to write as soulless game as possible

I may or may not drop Arkham Knight. As much as I appreciate Gotham's aesthetic the open world feels empty; not a big fan of the Batmobile stuff either. One of the best things about Asylum, imo, was its (fairly) brisk pace. I don't want to drive across the map just to get to the next mission.

It's got pretty cozy vibes though... I might give it another hour or two then decide.

@Princess_Lilly It's astounding how lazy and brainless I&F is. I could practically feel the developers' shrugs the further in I got. Never been the biggest tri-ace fan but yeesh.

@Princess_Lilly I looked the game up on tvtropes and apparently all star ocean games have standard JRPG plots but the gameplay distracted people from the generic plots but I&Sโ€™s gameplay is apparently seen as not very good which is why people find the plot soulless. Though this is from tvtropes so take this with a grain of salt.

@moomin @Greatluigi I'm pretty sure it's just about I&F. I played Star Ocean 1 and 4, and of course I'll get 2, and I can safely say that they are not generic. Do they have "standard" plots? Well, that is arguable. Good writing and character dialogues certainly make it above average. SO1 is pretty memorable, too.

It's weird that people say they gameplay of I&S is bad, it's the only bearable point. And it's pretty enjoyable actually, similar to 4 (and Xenoblade 2 which I think took at least some mechanics from SO4)

I generally enjoyed I&F's gameplay, but it wasn't like some JRPGs where the combat is strong enough to carry bland plots/characters (looking at you FFXIII)
