Topic: FIFA 18 Switch

Finally played a bit of this today and it's very good. I can see why the issue with playing friends Online has annoyed people but it has a very good game of football, like a refined version of FIFA 16.

What we have here is a portable that plays a quality game of football which looks glorious on the Switch screen and worthy of XB1 or PS4 (older versions at least) on the big screen. If you're a Nintendo-only gamer or want a quality portable football game this is a great buy.

What I’m liking is the games don’t turn into cricket scores compared to the main series. Modern Fifa is all about attacking play, but this version you need to think about it more, especially in midfield. Mind you when my brother plays me he will probably still stick 6 past me 😂

The bug doesn’t appear to be occurring in every other modes apart from a standard match, and it appears to occur when downloading a squad replace, and turning on dwell type

No idea what that means, but that's how the glitch gets triggered apparently

Thanks for posting that, where did you read it? I honestly have no idea what that means. I haven't messed around with squads or any of the settings.

Pretty sure what the first part means when you select download latest squads when doing an exhibition match. I’ve selected that and had no issues though, no idea what dwell means though, seems like broken English.

@Hughesy Yeah, that seems to be it. I don't see how you can not use latest squads though (other than disconnecting from wifi)? It just does it automatically does it not? And there's no options in settings to turn it off.

Anyways, I tried out other modes and can confirm it's only an issue in Exhibition matches,

And can I just say... holy cow this game is fun on Switch in handheld mode! I'm not a sports guy but this game is super in depth, has varied difficulty modes so that even I could play without being destroyed, I'm even getting into FUT.

Although my favorite by far has to be just the kickoff mode. Playing a quick match with custom settings however you like. It's perfect.

Is nobody else playing this game?

I'm blown away by how awesome this game is on Switch, and literally nobody is talking about it. It's almost like people just wanted it as a trophy piece for bragging rights.

@JaxonH Thr gaming press doesnt seem to want to touch it either...not having reviews pre release hurt it as did no demo.

@JaxonH It's superb,love it. I've spent quite a bit of time with it over the last 3 days and was playing in tabletop mode with my nephew yesterday which was brilliant.I've just not been so active on here as I'm back in the UK staying with family.

For me, EA have delivered an absolute belter of a footy game and I couldn't be happier with it.

I've seen quite a few reviews for the Switch version but none of them on Metacritic. Idk what's going on.

But gamers should be smarter than that. Everyone who's playing it is saying it's fantastic. The complete opposite of NBA 2K18 with it's glitches and bugs (not to slam that game cause it's still great, just needs those issues patched out, and the patch is on the way).

But ya, I feel comfortable saying it's one of the best games on the Switch, and I'm not even into sports games! I'll never go watch a match of soccer but I love the heck out of this game. Takes me back to the PS2 era with the great EA Sports arcadey titles.

This game is so fun, runs smooth, looks great, tons of modes... It's exceeded expectations for sure

I finally found a modern sports game I love. Never thought the day would come. I knew it was a good idea to give FIFA 18 and NBA 2k18 And WWE 2k18 a chance this year...

Any tips on controls or moves? Like dribble fake outs, fake shot, guard the ball, etc etc? I'm just figuring this stuff out myself by playing

I thought I was getting the hang of this game, then I lost 4 nil online! On a silly note, my team is called Hyrule Field FC, and their stadium is called Century Link Field. If anyone knows any Zelda sounding names in the world of football please let me know lol.

Still really enjoying it, my bro played it and also enjoyed it even though he has the PC version. The only thing annoying me is there’s no store where you can use points to unlock new balls, get a scout to find a good youth player or give yourself a big money boost. No idea why it’s not in the Switch version, especially as it’s linked to my Origin account, I have so my points as I play Fifa each year, so I’m annoyed I can’t use any😞

Ah that sucks. I know UPlay works across Nintendo platforms. Never tried with EA.

I'm just taken aback by this game running in the palm of my hand. I said it up in table top mode while making my coffee- I can't wait to bring this to work tomorrow and play with coworkers.
