I can see this reaching over 5 million and that low balling it.
No, that's grossly overestimating it by several million.
I don't think so in the slightest. Looking at the project and the people behind it this is lightening in a bottle. Didn't mighty number nine get close to 2 million?
Mighty No. 9 got almost 3.8 Million.
My best guess for this game would be 2.5 to 3 million.
Ok then what I'm saying then this will be more popular imo. So I'm guessing much more then mighty number nine.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.

Earning $5+ million would have it amongst the top 6 earners in Kickstarter history i.e. that's not happening
I feel you're underestimating the popularity of this project just a tad. Granted, I don't expect $5 mil, but I wouldn't be overly surprised to see it, either. My main thing is that Mega Man is far and away a more popular classic than Banjo-Kazooie, making getting bear that funding total a lot more difficult.
Seems like a lot of people think DKC:TF is the best of the series, don't know why they'd give it away from Retro Studios.
This. Retro hasn't shown any interest in moving away from Donkey Kong yet, so there's no reason to hand it off to Playtonic. If they did start working on Nintendo IPs, it should probably be something that other studios don't have interest in, like Metroid or F-Zero.
But then again, Playtonic seems to be interested in developing new IPs out of the Yooka-Laylee universe, so maybe they're not as interested working on Nintendo's IPs.

Yeah, 5m seems too high but I can see it beating Mighty No 9 however. Whilst Mega Man is a beloved classic the best selling Mega Man game only sold 1.5m copies back in the NES era, Banjo on the other has sold well over double that. Also Banjo's audience are coming into the age were they are now adults with disposable income unlike the Mega Man fans from it's heyday who are middle aged with families.
Their stretch goal of "all platforms released at once" is a bit of an empty achievement. That doesn't necessarily mean you're getting anything extra. It might just mean they waited longer before releasing it
Glad to see the current figure makes it look a definite success though!
