9.5M for me. Struggling as well but funnily enjoying it somehow. I would have never picked up this game but for this thread so I am very grateful.

Finally I get my fair share of gaming.
Praise the Switch!

@meppi64 Cheers for those tips, helped a lot.My first run after reading your comment was by far my best. Nothing special but it's progress. I somehow managed to make it to the 3rd stage without losing a life,then I got obliterated. Really enjoying the game though, this kind of shooter is a new experience for me.

@OorWullie that's normal. Don't worry about it too much. The more you play those later stages, the further you'll start to get.
It's got a lot to do with your state of mind as well.
I find myself returning to the "gotta graze every bullet" mentality every couple of minutes, even during parts where I know I shouldn't be doing this yet as I haven't come anywhere near to mastering them yet.
So I have to force myself time and again out of tha state of mind and into a more casual approach, just trying to survive, and especially observe what the game throws at me, even if only tiny details stick with me most of the time.

My last run for tonight for example was played like that and before I knew it I was at the boss of level 4 with 3 lives, only having lost my bombs on my first live till this point. About 145million at the time.
Again, I fell into the trap of thinking "wow, I'm doing so very well right now! I will finally get to see stage 5 and will no doubt break my record."
Then proceeded to lose all my bombs and lives faster then ever on phase 2 of the boss.

So it's better not to emphasise too much on the goals nor to get too excited about getting that huge score, but just stay in the moment and take it one bullet at a time.

I'm gonna have to make sure to take my own advice when I try again tomorrow.

Btw. I just noticed something. If I'm making a lot of grammatical errors, I'm probably posting on my iPad. lol
I somehow have a tough time with the digital keyboard and the autocorrect isn't always helping either it seems.

I love this game but I’m terrible at it, sorry guys... can’t believe I’m better at it when playing on iPhone via touch screen lol

I'm glad I came across this because I've been needing an excuse to play Danmaku Unlimited 3.

I'm just starting out still with this one, but off to a decent start. Let's see if I can start putting together better combos now.

sooooo... I decided to try it out on the TATE stand and arcade stick instead of the usual portable mode and as you can see by the clock I more than doubled my previous highscore set just the game before 🧐 I guess I really am an arcade player by the bone, I need ma sticks 🕹😂 😬🕹
From 13M to just short of 31M in a matter of minutes...
I’m still sucky tho 😢

EDIT:
@CaffeinatedGamer
I can see looking at your scores table’s clock that you too managed to double your score with each game played, damn! I’m betting on you pulling a 70+M score by tomorrow🤩
However it goes, welcome aboard and if you’d like you can find our Friend Codes in the signatures. 😀

@meppi64
@grailUk

You guys are amazing, can’t even imagine how you managed to pull such scores without even beating the game... the sky’s the limit for you two, lol

@DashKappei That's what I'm hoping for, but I unfortunately made the mistake of looking at videos and seeing how close people are getting to the bullets. So now I'm performing a string of constantly running into bullets lol.

Thank you for the welcome! And nice, I'll definitely add you as a friend.

Edit:

Friend request sent! And by the way, spot on with that guess of my next score, except it was tonight and not tomorrow! I can't wait to see what I do tomorrow night!

I'm seriously going to dream about colorful bullet patterns tonight. I still see them when I close my eyes lol.

Ok guys, I'm posting my first and last highscore screen, I've already uninstalled the game.
That's as far as I can get in portable mode, this game requires a degree of precision I'll never be able to achieve while playing handheld (well... I'll never be able to achieve AT ALL, LOL): besides I'm getting really, really stressed playing this one to the point I'm not enjoying it anymore. Played a lot of what you'd call "hard games" in the past, even played start-to-finish Super Meat Boy while travelling by train on an old laptop... but this one's a different beast that's turning out to be unbearably frustrating, and while I'm a fairly competitive guy I know when it's time to throw in the towel.

DU3 aside, my left joycon is driving me crazy. Before going to bed yesterday I noticed it was wobblier than ever, so I pulled it out and upon inspection I saw a noticeable dent in the inner part of the plastic lock mechanism. So I put it back to the console and made a test: with little to no effort I was able to pull it off even without pressing the back button I ended up ordering a couple of (chinese) METAL locks on eBay. Let's hope it won't take years to arrive... uffff

@RetroGamerAndrew fair dues man, it’s a very tough game to get into, it’s certainly unlike any other shmup I’ve played before.

Wouldn’t it be cool if you could swap games with people on your friends list.

I wish there was a feature along these lines where say, I could buy a game but then gift it to someone on my friends list.

@OorWullie Thank you!

I sure hope to be another top player. I do tend to have my moments. So we'll see how tonight goes.
I'm really happy to have stumbled across this thread because now I have more motivation to play my shmups.

@Lroy Thank you! And I accepted the friend request.

Ughhh! I'm getting slightly frustrated, but it's only because I know I'm one mistake away from having a blow out record. So close, yet I need a break.

Best score yet, though:
