@Sakura7 Your building your collection at about the same rate I have been since I bought my Switch. I bought mine in June and now have over 100 .I think about 40 of them are from Hamster or Psikyo.
I've never owned this many games for any console ever and yep, it's one of my all time favourites too.
@OorWullie Thanks. I didn't even reach the second boss until yesterday so again I couldn't leave my score knowing it could be bettered. I...am...loving Danmaku3.
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
@Jak3_Ry4n It was recorded before the Switch version came out so probably the PC version.
From the micro movements I'd say it's played with an arcade stick.
Possible with a keyboard, but my money is on a stick for someone who plays like this.
@Sakura7 Welcome to the club! I haven't been this excited about a game system since the Dreamcast.
I'm around 140 games and counting. Every Neo Geo game, lots of indies and many other arcade classics.
Thursday has become the day I look forward to the most just to see what classic I'll be grabbing next.
I don't even have time enough to play all the new games that have been released so far. It's crazy!
Boy, this game is really hard on my right thumb in portable mode. After a couple of runs I started to feel a strain through my wrist going to my forearm and had to stop for a while. Then tried using both joycons while in TATE mode and it all felt much less stressing. Unfortunately I play most of the time on the go... so we'll see. Pulled out something along 53MIL-ish, which I thought was a respectable score untill I saw @meppi64 's one... Nice one mate, I suspect we're goign to see some great numbers on this one!
Goodnight everybody
The original fire has died and gone, but the riot inside moves on.
@RetroGamerAndrew Yeah, we are just scratching the surface right now with these scores.
I'm looking forward to where they will be by the end of the week.
I'm using an arcade stick since my joints tend to act up as well along with some nerve damage in my left elbow, so I have days where my left thumb has a bit of a mind of it's own, at least when it comes to precise movements for analogue sticks or Dpads.
Then again, prolonged play on an arcade stick messed up my wrist. /old guy talk. lol
The scoring reminds me a bit of a good pinball cabinet.
At first when you start to understand the game a little, you think oh wow 3 million, that's quite good.
Then a couple of weeks later after you know half the rules and goals of the cabinet and have ready thought 400 pages of instructions in Stern Pinball Arcade for that one table, you're getting 14 billion points and think to yourself "I'm starting to actually understand what this game is about now, I should be able to triple this score if I just get a little better."

Had a little go on DANMAKU last night. My score is 6 million and I thought I'd done okay, lol! ☺️
I'm already so far behind these massive scores. I will keep having a run or two in the coming days but fully expect to be left in the dust on this one.
Man, this game is so busy on screen that I can't even look left to figure out what that meter is about - it is your score combos? I have to just put blind faith in the fact it is filling up.
Nor can I avert my gaze to the meter on the right for fear of being hit. I at least know when that one is full as the screen seems to shake and a gold circle is visible in the top right. I then trigger that for 'trance' mode correct?
As you can see, this is another I'm just playing blind and hoping to survive long enough to get any score up on the rankings, ha! ha!
@Fafounet Yeah, the whole bullet grazing mechanic is beyond my easily befuddled mind at the moment ☺️
I am trying to fly near the bullets but like I said. The screen is just so busy and the colours almost fit-inducing that I can't really tell whether I am actually 'grazing' or not.
Am I supposed to get the yellow light 'core' of my ship to touch, graze the bullets? What graphical reaction should I try and see amongst the chaos to indicate it is 'grazing' the ship. Someone mentioned sparks?
@Lroy
Not sure if you ALWAYS get that kind of visual feedback (sparks around the core), but I'm pretty sure you should hear some kind of audio feedback, like a TICK for each grazed bullet
The original fire has died and gone, but the riot inside moves on.
@Lroy There is a chime that you should try to identify which sounds when your Trance Bar on the right gets full. It's easy to miss it at first with everything else going on, so you'll have to concentrate a bit to burn it into memory so that you don't even need to check up on the meter.
There's also a yellow pulsating light that keeps flashing on top of the meter once it's full.
As for the grazing mechanic.
You already know that only the little circle in the middle of your ship (your cockpit) can sustain damage, everything else is fine, it's the same with bullets. These also have a circle inside of them, only this one is not visible to us.
Notice the first circle around your ship? That's where the bullet core needs to be in for you to graze them.
Either that or even a little closer.
Also if you see enemies with laser beams or rattling guns with streams of bullets, try to graze those, they will fill the meter up super quick.

11mil after the first boss! The scoring is ridiculously awesome. It's certainly one of those 'in the zone' games where occasionally you lose sight of the ship and you just become a small yellow orb weaving bout. This week is going to fly lol.

I'm not dead, I'm working, lol. Actually, for my job I'll be on daytime shifts for the next month (which means I'm at work right now). So posts will be more sparse to none during the day. So I'll have to wait until I get home. I haven't got a chance to play DU3 yet because I was/am agonizing over the Wii Shop points thing (I dropped more than a few pretty pennies on points) and essential purchases all weekend. Lots of classic shmups on the Genesis, TG16, and WiiWare. Anyway, I'll have to catch up on posts when I get off work later.
Welcome to all the new players! Good luck and have fun!
@oorwullie Do you think it would be possible to perhaps create a twitter account specifically for these weekly challenges? We could all share the password for the account and that way post our pics to it.
That would help folk like me as a non-Twitter and FB user and perhaps also help group all the score pics together.
@RetroGamerAndrew I'm wildly inconsistent at the moment. My end of level score ranges from 7.5 mil to about 11mil. It seems to revolve around when the bar is full.
