I know most people are excited over the Switch 2, but what are some of the things you are dreading?
As a physical collector, what I worry about is all the boutique publishers like Limited Run simply repeating their Switch 1 releases rather than continuing on. Will LRG Switch release #1 be Thimbleweed Park, or something else? For example, I'm not spending $50 for a Switch 2 version of Saturday Morning RPG.

But the impreciseness of the motion controls made Skyward Sword incredibly frustrating; for example, there's one section in the first dungeon where you're supposed to swing from one vine to another using the motion controls, and I literally died like 50 times before I managed to pull it off. Similarly, the bits where you were flying in the sky with your bird and trying to rise higher were hell to play; on the Switch version I had to turn off the motion controls for those flying sections because they were so uintuitive and prone to error. So the decision by Nintendo to show off their gimmick made an otherwise good game a chore to play, and that's not how a Zelda game should be.
I'm curious, on what system did you play SS? Cause my experience was: The motion controls worked really great on Wii, and quite a bit worse on Switch. I remember being impressed when they introduced the WiiMotion Plus / Remote Plus, it really fixed what the Wii had tried to do in its earlier years.
On Switch, one obvious reason is the absence of a sensor bar - basically you have to re-center after every sword hit. That's quite bad. And I'm not sure if the gyro is so dependent on knowing what's where, or if the Wiimote gyro was actually superior to the Joycon implementation.
The only one that's really at risk is Star Fox. The other games you mentioned are practically thriving(or in RH's case, going to thrive). Besides, Metroid and Pikmin are the most popular they've ever been in this phase of Nintendo.
Ok, are they more popular? Or were they just on a system with more people who would give it a chance?
Like given the highly reasonable chance Switch 2 sells less, what would cause more people to buy the next Metroid and Pikmin games while they simultaneously cost more?

I'd say it's the former. Metroid and Pikmin aren't more popular just because they're on a popular system - it's Nintendo's stronger efforts to make those games more recognizable to a wider audience that have increased their popularity.

I'm not disputing their efforts, but its not like those efforts can't be undone. For example, if their next system has fewer players and games cost more. Or y'know, if certain people who gave them a chance just find they're not a big fan, and its not made up by...more people giving it a chance, because they're not buying a 4 year old 2D game for 60 bucks because Nintendo doesn't lower prices.
Do you see an audience of 4+ million paying 70 dollars to buy Metroid 6 or Pikmin 5 on Switch 2?
Ok, serious answer time. Honestly I'm finding this question relatively hard because there's not much I can think of to be negative about. But I'll give it a go:
1. Possible issues with Backwards Compatibility. I'm fairly confident backwards compatibility will function well, probably even to the point where Switch 2 is the best way to play most Switch games, but it's still one of the big unknowns. It'll probably be fine but yeah, until it's independently tested we just don't really know for sure
2. Docked mode not having VRR support. So broadly if there was one mode to have VRR and another mode to lack it they've got it the right way around. It would be more likely that you're going to miss frame windows in portable mode when there's less power available. However I'm still slightly concerned that some games will miss their targets on both and therefore feel significantly less smooth docked
3. Poor HDR mastering. It's already an issue sometimes with games on Switch where the surround mix isn't great, to the point where I jump into settings to make it run in stereo. It seems to me entirely likely that HDR could get the same treatment by some developers. Don't get me wrong, when done well it's going to add a lot but.... I hope that's the rule rather than the exception
4. Poor resolution/framerate decisions. Again, another one on the developers. On the Switch it was simple, 1080p/60Hz docked or 720p/60Hz portable. Those were the limits. With Switch 2 however they can push to 4K, which is great but greater flexibility also means more scope for getting it wrong. Especially given that the average consumer has their priorities backwards. I guess my concern here is mostly the possibility of low framerate 4K becoming the target when my hope is for high framerate 1080p to be the baseline. Thankfully, not much evidence of this at this stage

I'm worried mine will show up damaged or defective, being part of the first run of a new console and being cranked out to retailers as fast as they can make them. I'm putting a lot of faith into the fact that they have a lot of years experience with this form factor now and know how to make it correctly the first time (this time). Also, as I mentioned in another thread I believe, this console has certainly not been rushed to market as Nintendo is in a much better situation these days than they were when the first one came out. Hoping for a solid launch with very few scandals or "gates".
