@MrCarlos46 Definitely seems like a point of discussion for tomorrow. Also before this they've been using the Switch 2 trailer music, what's with this new song? Really hoping they use it on Switch 2 menus or eShop or something.

MarioKirbyPikmin?

MrCarlos46

@PikminMarioKirby Maybe something more for system settings or first time setup based on the tone.

Yeah, themes and UI music might actually return this time.

Switch 2 Info from Direct and other places:

1. GameChat is a new feature allowing you to do voice chat with friends, C button pulls up a menu for it
2. 256GB storage, 4K support confirmed
3. 3D audio
4. Dock will have an internal fan
Switch 2 cartridges are the same as Switch cartridges, but now in red and faster speeds (the amount of storage in them is still unknown, but it will probably be somewhere between 64 and 100GB this time)
5. Regular microSD cards will not work on Switch 2, you will need the new microSD Express cards
Release Date: June 5, 2025
6. Switch 2 Pro Controller will have the C button and a headphone jack, will cost $89 USD*
Games that will have a Switch 2 Edition: Super Mario Party Jamboree, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Pokémon Legends: Z-A
7. GameShare is another new feature that allows you to share your game with others like Download Play on DS and 3DS, also works with Switch 1
8. Pricing: $449 USD* on its own, $499 USD* with Mario Kart World
9. Nintendo will make a cheaper Japanese-only variant for Japan, while selling the global version at a higher price on the Japanese My Nintendo Store

*Pricing will vary around the world

The pricing is just driving me away from getting it at launch, might wait to November to get it.

So . . . Who among you called it. I had mid May for a while now, so I was a bit early

How many put themselves onto Nintendo Preorder reservation list?

Jester676

FishyS

@Jester676 I did, although if I get accepted I haven't decided whether to actually pre-order or not.

The Switch 2 UI was shown, and it looks similar to the Switch UI, but some differences were spotted, like GameShare and GameChat being added to the HOME Menu options at the bottom, edges looking rounded and the selection key having different colors instead of solid blue.

Although from seeing it still be white and that none of the media showing it heading to the Themes section, it’s looking likely that we’re still only gonna have white and black themes like on Switch.

Meanwhile some new features were added to the OS, like increasing text size, mapping buttons, changing display colors, and even text-to-speech voice accessibility.

Outside of that, it appears that Nintendo has chosen to take the Xbox and Apple route for the UI aside from adding some new features and other changes.

It’s probably how even though the Switch 2 has more resources to work with, Nintendo is past the era of adding themes and chose to save enough resources for games while adding some more space to the OS was just a case of improving performance and some other new features, not for if they wanted to add themes.

I'm ok with this. The PlayStation UX is WAY too complicated

Following confirmation that the Switch 2 would be $449 ($499 with Mario Kart World) and Mario Kart World would be $80, people got so mad they even took to yesterday’s Treehouse video and spammed Nintendo on the live chat to “DROP THE PRICE.”

After US preorders were delayed, the same has also happened for Canada.

@MrCarlos46 As unfortunate as this is for me as a Canadian, it’s not really that surprising. When comparing the console prices in Canada and the U.S. to Japan, it’s pretty clear Nintendo wants to keep Canada and U.S in line with one another. So a double delay was sadly inevitable. Hopefully this doesn’t set things too far back

Looks like Hades II will be a Switch family-of-platforms exclusive for a limited time.

@SplatRay001 Considering Nintendo of America also manages the Canadian market, they want things for the US and Canada happening at the same time, so yeah. This was gonna happen eventually, we just didn’t think it would happen the day before preorders go live.

Although possible reasoning could be because US people could just drive up to Canada and take up a majority of Switch 2 units from there assuming the price in the states goes up higher and Nintendo doesn’t want Canadians to be left out of getting one.

It’s also why pricing is similar around the world except Japan to an extent, because Japan will have have a cheaper model at 49,980 yen ($340 USD) that only has the Japanese language and only connects to Japanese accounts. It’s gonna be the one sold at Japanese retailers, while the global version is only on the Japanese My Nintendo Store for 69,980 yen, which is closer but higher than the US price. Reasoning for that may because of Japan’s weak yen where if they just had the global version people would also just import from there, especially scalpers where they could spend less to buy units there and sell them for more.

So, since the Switch 2 Edition for Breath of the Wild doesn't have the DLC on cartridge, could we expect a Breath of the Wild + Expansion Pass down the road?

I see what you're doing, Nintendo. You sly old dog you.

@Magician In any case such BOTW Switch 2 Edition + Expansion will probably be available everywhere but North America, kinda like Splatoon 3 + Expansion Pass.
