@FragRed Oh man I'm excited for this. I actually wouldn't be surprised to see game announcements at Xbox's developer direct coming up. This is about to be a fun few months.
The reveal video even showed the new Joy-Cons being used as mice following the optical sensor being added. Maybe that’s what the optical sensor actually is, to use them as a mouse for certain games, maybe Super Mario Maker 3.
The optical sensor will be cool, and it will open up some possibilities for them.
I'm still not really psyched overall, it's pretty much just the same Switch, but... I love the Switch, soooooo yea. It's still gonna be good overall.
So in this case, we already know the hardware is excellent, and the few tweaks in this trailer confirming the larger size for the system and Joycon and stuff should make most people happy. I know the raised triggers on the individual Joycon when detached will be a nice feel.
This is a scenario where, to @skywake's glee, I would say the software really does become the most important factor for success.
@skywake
It’s entirely possible the “experience” can overlap with release, too.
Yeah, that's possible. I do remember them doing something like this for both Switch and 3DS and both were before launch. But they also do this kind of thing with the Switch on a yearly basis to this day where they show upcoming and recently released games
Anyways, I still hope for April but I think early April is out and May seems more likely at this point

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
Overall, I'm pretty happy with this. It was what most of us were expecting given the prior leaks, nothing more, nothing less. If the quality of the hardware has been all-round improved, is more robust with greatly improved specs, then you can't really ask for much more if you want the system to be a success.
It would have been nice to have seen Elden Ring or another third-party game running on the system to see its full potential, but that will of course come soon enough. We more or less know its potential anyway if the leaked specs are anything to go by. The mouse functionality is much appreciated too, assuming you can use it for the likes of Call of Duty, Civilisation, Stardew Valley and first-party titles like Animal Crossing, where it should make the games so much more practical to play.
I expect a late May-June release, but there should be lots of smaller software and hardware announcements between now and then, so this period should fly by in no time.
@Jalex_64 Red Dead Redemption and GTA 5 also have a chance to come to Switch 2, although it’s still unknown if GTA 6 will come over as well.
Yes, I'm hopeful for RDR2 having bought and enjoyed the first one on Switch. As for the latter two games, I'm less convinced. Rockstar have historically been very cautious about releasing modern GTA games on Nintendo hardware, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see. 🤞
@MrCarlos46
Inflation adjusted $299 would be the cheapest hardware release outside of the GameBoy line, DS and Switch Lite. $499 adjusted for inflation would be pretty much in line with the digital edition of the PS5 and 64GB Steam Deck. Both extremes would be kinda nuts
Honestly I think $399US works because adjusted for inflation it's basically the same as the PSP, N64, Switch OLED, Wii, Switch, Dreamcast. And in terms of relative capabilities Switch 2 is basically in the same position Switch was at launch so it would make sense for it to be priced about the same
I could see them going $50US up or down but I'm more inclined to think they'll go higher, if they don't land on $399, simply because they'll be able to get away with it. I mean what competition to they have? Not much in the minds of the average consumer I think
I have to say, I am soo happy they havem't strayed too far away from my favourite console ever. This is exactly what I wanted. Sure, I'm not jumping arounf like a Youtuber, screaming 'whaaat?' and 'are you kidding me?' etc etc, I'm just content that I'll be grabbing one day one...y'know like a sane person. Even the launch is looking more like how I imagined it. The best thing about revealing the date of the Direct so far in front is...we really don't need to read articles about the Switch 2 anymore (or listen on to folk milking a 2 minute trailer for the next 3 months.) Nintendo from my eyes has taken control of their messaging again. We can chill and get on with our lives playing games. Nice.
@GrailUK It's a little weird that they gave us a date for a games direct and not a 'these are the actual technical details' presentation. So although I agree we don't have to read about as much because it's basically proven that almost all the leaks we already heard are correct, there is still going to be endless rambling about dates both for details and for actual release.. I wish Nintendo had told us all 3 dates 😆
@FishyS The direct description makes it sound like it will cover the hardware side of things:
"Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 - 02.04.2025 will air on Wednesday April 2nd, 2025, offering a closer look at Nintendo Switch 2, the successor to Nintendo Switch releasing in 2025."
My prediction that NS2 releases soonest/earliest somewhere at second half of the June due this!:

I was planning to save money monthly to update my console day 1 now after NS2 gotta revealed, because I own NS1 V1 aka the one who survives on battery less then other models from 2018 end of the March bought from person and that person bought at 2017 July 11th, so. Plus my NS1 V1 now has 2 different line cracks on protective glass only from bottom to top, but they most time unnoticeable when gaming and even when doing other stuff on it it's barely noticeable, so it is ok for me. But now I realized if we be getting Pokémon Gen 10 at November 2026 7-8 days before Black Friday then we highly likely will get edition of console for those games which I kinda would want a bit more then regular NS2! Plus all dual copy Pokémon Games on NS1 gotta console editions: Let's GO Pikachu & Eevee NS1 V1, Sword & Shield NS1 Lite, Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl NS1 Lite, Scarlet & Violet NS1 OLED! So now I debating with myself to maybe wait until then or buy regular NS2 on day 1?!
