@MrCarlos46 It's worth noting that in Trump's first term, it took a year for tariffs to be implemented and various specific tariffs were then sprinkled out over half a year. He may be faster this time but fundamentally it takes time to implement major economic shifts. So who knows about long-term, but there is a decent chance this won't effect Switch 2 at release time.
@MrCarlos46 Well, yes, NOW they have officially stated it. (It's still abit vague though and leaves enough room to move the goal posts if Switch reaches 160M! hahaha.) Thing is, if Switch can hit 150M or over after this holiday season, it will get to 160M. PS2 sales weren't worth reporting in it's last couple of years hence why they stopped (like 500 units a week type low.) Switch is still hitting 60K a week in Japan. It's simply not behaving like it's in it's final year despite Youtubers claiming otherwise (honestly, they carry on like it's on it's knees so they can harp on about Switch 2 every bloody day, sucking the joy out of anything Nintendo do!) I said years ago Switch would beat PS2. Back then I thought it would be a slow amble towards that goal...but it's still at a comfy jog. Granted, nay not be first place currently in other parts of the world, but we aren't at Wii U levels just yet. Maybe not for another 2 years.
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.

And even if Sony tries to move the goal post if the Switch nears 160m, it’s too late now because we already know how much they actually sold. Once the Switch goes over 160m, Sony will try to deny it by inflating the number, but the rest of us will know by then the Switch will become best-selling console of all time
@MrCarlos46 Sony only actually said PS2 sold 'over 160 million', they didn't say how much over. Could it be 500k over? 3 million over? They didn't say. If Switch reaches 170 million it would probably be inarguable that they are first.
The pacing of NSO releases being so fast recently and that buy 1 year get 1 year free deal gives me this ominous feeling that maybe Switch 2 is timed exclusive to NSO after all.
@Grumblevolcano They’ll probably do what they did with Alarmo preorders on the My Nintendo Store and make Switch 2 preorders only available to NSO members
Honestly outside of a period in between the lack of an announcement in late October and then the double punch of the backwards compatibility announcement and shipping information? I've been fairly consistent with when I think this thing will launch. Between April and June 2025. And while I do wish Nintendo had shut the door on the late 2025 option I would still say we have more evidence to suggest a H1 release at this point, not less
Now the fact that they haven't done a reveal for it yet? That's certainly a pickle and something that is very odd indeed. I can't really square that circle. However the fact that we have fairly concrete evidence of what essentially should mean millions of finished units already sitting in warehouses? I mean.... that circle has to square. They're doing a short lead up this time

I used Push Square to have a look back at GTAV's promotion timeline and saw some things of note that may be of use to Switch 2 discussion:
November 2nd 2011 - Trailer
November 14th 2012 - Trailer
January 31st 2013 - Game given a release date of September 17th 2013
April 30th 2013 - Trailer
Considering the 1st GTA6 trailer released on December 4th 2023, a similar timeline would suggest the 2nd trailer airs in December 2024. If @skywake ends up right about Switch 2 release window, GTA6 may be the reason for a shorter cycle.
Nintendo could officially call the Switch successor one of 3 names. Either they go with “Switch 2” like how a majority of us call it since there’s no official name yet, they pull a New 3DS and use “New Nintendo Switch,” or they go the SNES route and call it “Super Nintendo Switch”
