@MrCarlos46 Or at the very least allowing headset microphones to work by default. Simply plug in your headphones to the aux port, and your mic is good to go. It'd also be really nice to have a headphone jack on a pro controller like the Dualshock does. I have a ton of gripes with Playstation, but one small thing I really like is being able to plug in a headset to the controller. Super small convenience, but I really liked that feature back when I used it!
What about for when you’re playing in docked mode?
Release date might be revealed once the Switch 2 is announced
It better be! If they had revealed in September Nintendo could have gotten away with a vague release window, but imagine how angry people would be if the reveal was January or February and they didn't say anything about the release date 😆

People want the Switch 2 sooner than later and Nintendo will realize eventually
@FishyS That's what I'm expecting. A commercial similar to the one in October 2016 with release window at the end being "Fall 2025" so that they can be flexible around GTA6.

Summer 2025 may also be likely depending on what Nintendo wants to do
Note specifically the work in progress inventory. This is all hardware sure, so it also includes Switch Lite and OLED etc, but note that at this same point in time in 2016 before the Switch launch vs what they have now. 5X the value of in-progress inventory. And twice as much as there was during the post COVID recovery production ramp up

I think we can fairly safely assume H1 2025
Yup, but probably not until sometime in the first three months of the 2025-26 FY. May 2025 could be the most likely
Somewhere at Nintendo factory, the employees have to work assembling Nintendo Switch 2 parts and they have to keep their mouth shut to not leak anything about Nintendo Switch 2 to anybody.
They are the first witness of next Nintendo Switch machine.
@MrCarlos46
what if the switch 2 release date is finally revealed after switch 2 is released!?
in all seriousness my main interest is just knowing more about what the system itself actually is and whatnot. from the little official info we do have (it will be a "switch" and will support switch 1 games and nso) does seem promising though im in the cautious optimism phase until ive seen what the system is and the features it has or if theres any aspects about it im not a fan of. (tbh i would be satisfied if it was just a more powerful switch that could play more games and maybe offer performance boosts to older games)
@WaveBoy You've put off Mario Odyssey? I didn't wan't a 3d mario when it launched, but I fell for that game by the second or third world. The third world, Sand Kindom, is big and kind of amazing. There are several big wow-factor areas & events in the game, and that's one of them.
If it is H1 when do you think we’d get the announcement? November/December don’t seem likely. perhaps a January announcement and a May/June release? There are reasons to think May won’t happen but it still seems possible to.
@skywake Wouldn't stockpiling units for a later launch have the same effect though? As for a reason to stockpile units, maybe there's no crossgen period (outside of perhaps Legends Z-A considering the normal timing of Pokemon games) and hence Nintendo can't really afford to have Switch 2 stock shortages.
@Grumblevolcano
We're talking about inventory they've paid for, have to pay to store and have to have on their books. And at a value that is 5X higher than what they had during the same half before the Switch launch and 100X more than what they had at the start of this year. Inventory that is costing them money to hold and only makes them money when they can sell it
Sure they can technically hold onto this for as long as they want. Nothing stopping them. But it would be a very strange thing to do. It'd be like opening a hardware shop and ordering 1mill widgets, hiring extra storage and security and storage to hold it and.... not putting them up for sale for a year
Again, these are the times they they had a higher volume of WIP inventory:
H2 2016: 5th of now (Switch launch Mar 2017)
H1 2019: 10th of now (Switch Lite launch)
H1 2021: half of now (COVID shock/OLED)
H2 2021: 10th of now (tail of the above)
H2 2024: (???)
